Then they'd ask that at fifteen years, twenty five years and so on. If Chinese society becomes more liberal in its treatment of gay people then long term relationships will become more common. Lucas and Kibo in China have been together nine years, in Taiwan Renjie and BibBin have spent eight years together so far, and young men like Pai being so open on the internet will push things along too as Y series (BL's) especially of the Thai variety have done. The rise to fame of Thai gay actors and lovers, e.g. NuNew and ZeePruk, in Asia and across the globe, are taking a new message to young gays, it's okay to love who you love and be who you are. Keep up the good work Pai!

Despite opposition we embarked on a relationship and just kept going as society changed around us. Public acceptance came as we, and other couples, decided to be open and visible. Unless you're out for just hookup sex and sex alone, then T or B is a perfectly valid question to ask. But if you really like a guy and he likes you and you want to start a relationship then I think that stuff kind of works it's way out along the way. Another point you bring up is that people have unrealistic expectations for their partners. The partner thinks that they should be the center of their universe when this is not how life works. People have responsibilities to their careers, education, other friends and family. Real love involves understanding, caring and giving. Placing multiple deadlines on a partner such as replies by a certain time is asking for trouble. If both partners in a relationship agree to be monogamous then this should be respected and honored.
From what I hear you say, it sounds like you are mixing up "Love" and "Sex". Love is a feeling, sex is a physical act. As far a the intimate contact, everyone has their likes and dislikes. It all comes down to mutual fulfillment at the end. Penetration is for many the ultimate goal; but not everyone. Both parties need to express their wants beforehand so that they are able to experience mutual pleasure. It's about communication as well as participation. When it comes to couple's relationship, I find it best not to judge. What works for them is none of my business.

You are right ! As a Foreigner in China I discovered that being 1 or 0 is so important among Chinese gays. They would always ask (and often expect me to be 1!). But in my life, I always follow my heart and let things happen naturally... But there is also another point Dear Pai you don't mention (and I am interested in your opinion) - I had "side" sex with several Chinese boys who did not consider themselves as gay as long as there was no 1 and no 0... Then it was ok to go with another boy :). So in China, being "side" is a way to "save face". Let me know tour view and if you agree!

Back when I was young many years ago all of the guys I dated were uncut and we never had anal sex. For that reason I would only date someone who was uncut as the sensation is much more enjoyable. Yes, there used to be quite a few gay guys who would only sleep around as it was a thrill for them to not be involved with anyone. That was never my desire and so I will add that for some of us, we are much more mutual and have no desire to be intimate with a stranger. When I meet older guys who survived the AIDS epidemic, they did so as they were not interested in promescuis sex and such sex was leathal. So in the end guys who died from AIDS could not live without having anal sex with strangers and they ended up dying. It was suicidal if you ask me.
