    Personally I’d put last man standing matches on my list of most hated. Too much stalling and standing around for my liking.

      I definitely could’ve seen them do one in the ruthless aggression with Cena, Batista, Orton, Triple H, HBK, and The Undertaker.

      I mean I feel the match was really sloppy, but it had so much potential it was just overly booked for how many people were involved.

    Elimination Chamber was Eric Bishoffs idea in Kayfabe. Triple H is the actual mastermind. I for one actually love the concept, and when it became a staple at No Way Out it made sense following the Royal Rumble, particularly in the Era of two world titles. Winner of the Royal Rumble picks one world title, the elimination Chamber match is either for the other world title, or a shot at said world title at Wrestlemania. Even in an era with only one world title it works as an obstacle for the champion to overcome. In that regard it maybe fits survivor series better. And yes, the legacy of the EC was tainted by the likes of the Extreme version at December to dismember, and the IC and tag title bouts at the titularly named event that took place in May 2015, but show me a stipulation that has been executed well in every instance.
    Also I has to laugh when you state that wrestlers think logically in an elimination type match. Particularly in WWE we continually see wrestlers break up pin falls in an elimination style multi man match. Logic is more often not present in the wrestling ring.

    I was always a fan of RoH's Christmas tag match. 5 on 5, heels and faces mixed together and having to work together to win. Throw in some holiday props, and you've got some good sports entertainment.

    i like King of the Ring with 32 men over a month with 8 to 4 to 2 on PPV

    In my honest opinion, every gimmick match who has its name on a PPV was killed because of it, because now they are doing them just for the sake of it, barring 1 or 2 exceptions, which Hell in a Cell, which Elimination Chamber, which TLC match was really memorable in a good way in these PPV's ?

    The most fucked up 3 way matches I have seen was the tomosan three way in which 3 people are drawn with letter A, B & C and they would fight in A vs B, then A vs C then B vs C and two people would fight until the match was over then the third participate would fight the anyone of other two in order of their drawn letter. The one who win the most matches wins the match.
    Basically triple threat but in a single round robin style match.
    It's happened only twice first one at AJPW champions carnival 1997 finals between kobashi, misawa and kawada and second in 2021 AJPW triple crown championship match between jack Lee, Yuma aoyagi, and kento miyahara. And both are available on TH-cam

    Regarding KOTR, would you bring back all the elements of the classic tournament(king gimmick/ guaranteed title match) or modify them in some way?

    • @DaveKnowsWrestling
      @DaveKnowsWrestling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I'd probably bring it back in all of its cheesy goodness. And nice that you caught the reference... I think you're the first

    • @Unlitedsoul
      @Unlitedsoul 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      KotR never had a guaranteed title shot attached to it. In fact, it’s rarely lead to the winner getting any kind of a real push whatsoever. The only KotR winner I can think of that wound up booked into any title picture at all (brand title, world title, US/IC title, tag titles, and even lowcard filler titles) directly due to their performance during the KotR is Austin. Even then, it’s believed that Austin and Hart was going to happen that following summer even if HHH hadn’t been punished for the Curtain Call incident and won that KotR.
      That said, I do think that the KotR should come with the stipulation of getting a title shot at Summerslam.
      Oh, and, I got the reference too...though I’m only just now getting back home and online to see the videos.

    • @DaveKnowsWrestling
      @DaveKnowsWrestling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brock was given a guaranteed title shot against the Rock at Summerslam when he won

    • @Unlitedsoul
      @Unlitedsoul 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DaveKnowsWrestling Oh that’s right, but there were already little hints being thrown around that Brock was next in line. Little face-offs between him and Rock months before the KotR started.
      That said, yes the stipulation was there. It’s the only time, though. Even Austin didn’t get a guaranteed shot at a title, though the KtoR was used as a building block to it.

    I personally miss the old traditional Survivor Series PPV style, where all (or all but the title match) was with teams…could tie that into your idea, where like 3-4 SD and Raw teams are formed, culminating in the Grand Finale match…and keep the WWE title match separate for either the main or semi-main spot.

      @@DaveKnowsWrestling ah come on Dave, have a little faith. I like the idea of the two doors only being opened once for a limited time period, having to resort to climbing afterwards. And a small cage inside a huge cage has potential idc how bad it's been done in the past. If you made the "Punjabi" Prison match a multi-man match where the participants could utilize both the inner and outer area, change the bamboo style of the cage, and didn't have the Great Khali, it could be a good match. Imo at least

    The Triple Threat was actually done first in SMW. It too had an elimination rule and they made sure that there was a reason for all 3 guys to be in that Match. Heyman stole that one. They only did it once because it for that one feud (Smothers, White Boy & Prime Time). I don't think that there's footage. Christmas Chaos 1993, all 3 nights.
    Personally I can go on without ever seeing a Match involving ladders ever again. Used to be Wrestling Matches with Ladders. Became stunt shows with occassional Wrestling Moves. For which I blame those 3 Tag Teams. Needless to say that I don't care much for their Matches either. Which happened on re-watches. I liked them the 1st time around.

    One-fall multi-person matches is probably my most hated thing in wrestling now. Do it with the elimination rules, and I'm down. Blood & Guts/submission only WARGAMES!!!!!!!! with a roof and "I Quit" will always be my favorite gimmick matches.

    • @DaveKnowsWrestling
      @DaveKnowsWrestling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I thought I was the only one who hated triple threats... glad to see I got company
      As for Blood & Guts, I do hate the lack of roof in NXT, but the whole point is that I want the chaos contained... AEW they just went out of the cage anyway

      @@DaveKnowsWrestling That's why I prefer Hell in a Cell matches to "steel cage" matches. Fences don't impress me.

  • @Unlitedsoul
    @Unlitedsoul 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used to think that the Hardys, Young Bucks, and FTR could put on one hell of a TLC match. The Hardys and Bucks could basically fill the role of...well... the Hardys and Edge and Christian, doing all the big spot monkey stuff. FTR has shown that they can work off of all that and be the grounding, foundation force that brings the missing elements much as the Dudleys did. However, after seeing the recent debacles between the Hardys and the Bucks, yeah, I don’t think this way any longer.
    However, I’d be intrigued for a TLC match if the Lucha Bros were put into the Hardys role.
    Of course, none of the tag teams are in the WWE...
    I’m pretty much done with WWE trivializing steel structures. I don’t even want to see them scale down to one big steel cage gimmick a year anymore. Just take a break from them for... oh... 5 years. Then break one out for a particularly strong feud and rivalry.
    Triple threat matches are so bad that even the wrestlers hate working them due to the clunkiness. I’d much rather see an old style 4-corners (or tornado) match where each contestant is in a corner and has to tag himself in. Even in the elimination style, these tend to work so much better than triple threats.
    That ECW champions quest match is an interesting take on this as well.
    Oddly enough, I miss the “loser leaves town” type matches where the face loses and comes back in an obvious mask for a while. Especially when the heel manages to “reveal” them, only for it to be some other similar looking face under the mask. Those still crack me up, even though they were always ridiculously obvious.

    • @DaveKnowsWrestling
      @DaveKnowsWrestling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Solid picks but for me, the Bucks and Hardys are a little redundant. And also is it cheating that you're using one of the original 3 teams? And while I love FTR, they aren't exactly known for ladder matches. But adding technical wrestling to the mix works for me. I think what's missing is a powerhouse, a muscle team to take on the Dudleys role. But I don't want a pair of meatheads. I'd want a team that's strong like Dudleys and also good in the ring like them too

    • @Unlitedsoul
      @Unlitedsoul 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DaveKnowsWrestling I did like the TLC styled match between the Revival, DYI, and AoP several years back. The match was mostly carried by the two challengers, while AoP had their power-based highlights. Of course, a better all around (and not still too green to be in a high profile match) powerhouse team would have made that match even better.
      While none of these teams were ever in such a match, I do wonder if a TLC match involving the Midnight Express, Rock N Roll Express, and either the Steiners or Road Warriors could do as well as the Attitude Era trio.
      From a more WWF focus, the British Bulldogs, Hart Foundation, and Demolition could have torn the house down with a TLC match back in the late 80s-early 90s.

    KOTR needs a reboot and the semi finals & finals take place at the Royal Rumble. Those who fail to qualify or advance automatically get entry into the Rumble match. Winner of the KOTR gets an automatic WWE or Universal Championship match.
    Definitely time to bring prestige back to the MITB, Elimination Chamber, TLC & Hell in a Cell by getting rid of the PPVs themselves.

    The only Elimination Chamber match I enjoyed was the one where Ryback one the Intercontinental Championship. I only like it because it's hilarious with all the botches. Mark Henry had his door busted early, Sheamus was stuck while they were confused and trying to buy time. It's so funny.
