    It's touching to think that despite his ultimate betrayal, Hephaestus' sacrifice in the defence of his daughter left such an impact on Kratos that he would later pass the story of the smith god down to his son, many years later. He's the only Greek god he ever refers to in any sort of positive light at all which speaks volumes.

    I have a strong feeling that Hephaestus was the only god Kratos felt remorse for killing. He trusted him with his word about the Flame, he never approached him with hostility and actually had a conversation with him, Kratos did not kill him out of revenge but in self defense, he then said to Pandora he understood why he tried to kill him (he wanted to protect his daughter). He didn't even try to kill him after he knowingly sent Kratos to fight Cronos. They both share similar traits, they were both fathers, both had their status as gods stripped, and truly lost everything. I guarantee Kratos genuinely feels bad for killing Hephaestus

    I feel so bad for Hephaestus. His wife cheats on him all the time, and yet he still loves her and holds out hope she’ll come see him. He was so excited when Keaton used the portal because he thought it was her coming to see him again after centuries. All he had was his daughter, Pandora, & Zeus took her from him after beating him down & torturing him. Then, after he fails to save Pandora from Kratos, he dies, begging him to spare her. It’s so sad. He was literally one of the very few gods that did not deserve to die. The only other main one I can think of off the top of my head is Prometheus.

      American Boy Yeah I feel bad that he was killed and he wanted to protect his daughter but I don’t get why he would try to attempt to kill Kratos? Yeah Kratos isn’t a saint but he did nothing wrong to Hephaestus during these scenes. Yeah he wanted to kill Zeus and that means finding Pandora but he later on found her to resemble his daughter and didn’t want her to go in the box. Hephaestus knew what Kratos was capable of and yet he went and risked his life for nothing. He also wasted a stone to create a weapon and then try to kill him after crafting it. Kratos also should’ve never turn his back on anyone either. He’s probably the only god I felt sorry for but still poor move.

      He knew that Hephaestus was also a victim of Zeus and really despise Zeus as much as him,so it's obvious that he took his words seriously and didn't take his betrayal personally because unlike other gods or titans,he did it for a valid reason,to protect his daughter from being sacrificed.Something i noticed that other people didn't talk about was Kratos's attitude after Hephaeus told him about him with Pandora and how he was brutally assulted by Zeus for hiding Pandora away.He assured to him that he would stop at nothing to destroy Zeus.As if Kratos understood and really empathized with Hephaestus's pain of losing a child and had to watch them being taken away,it fueled his hatred for Zeus and motivated him to kill Zeus at all cost,avenged for himself and for Hephaestus.

      He was evil. People tend to forget he slaughtered many innocents, both as a mortal and a god. Way more undeserving than those who were. He was also so single minded he destroyed the world in his quest to kill Zeus with the only thing left being the power of Hope to survive (which let’s be honest, is pretty useless in an apocalyptic scenario shown in GoW 3).
      That’s why I love GoW 4 so much. He is carrying a burden on his conscience heavier than he ever had before, and instead of fleeing his guilt like in the past, he’s attempting to amend for his mistakes.

Even the fates say he needed to go through trials or blood trials to become what ares wanted him to be. As soon as the deal happens kratos was just a "pawn in a game he didn't know was being played". His wife did oppose him and that was before he made the deal which at that point he was doing it for Sparta which was something he was raised to do and was common back in the day. I just realized at 8:10 Hephaestus is examining dead Cronos' face, right after Kratos killed him. Hephaestus must've thought "damn is this Cronos? Kratos sure is a tough man to kill". Pretty cool.

      Hepheastus's plan was to
      1: Send Kratos to his certain doom against Cronos. When that failed he improvised
      2: Make a pair of masterful weapons Kratos would accept without question, then turn on him.
      3: Oh s**t that didn't work! Just hit him!

    Hephaestus is the only god I felt sympathetic for and actually quite liked. He is the only god in my opinion that has a backstory that I makes you feel for the character. The story makes Hephaestus seem like a good guy. You can see that he does care for his daughter and loves her. And yeah him trying to kill Kratos was kinda dumb but he was just trying to protect his daughter. He couldn’t have stood by and let Kratos kill his daughter

    • @Caveman90210559
      @Caveman90210559 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      its why Kratos doesnt hold any grudge against Hephaestus for trying to kill him since being a father himself at one point, he understands why he tried. if he was in Hephaestus position & found out somebodys trying to kill his daughter to further his own gain, he woulda tried to do the same
