Why The LEGO Crocodile Locomotive Doesn’t Need a Fix

  • I have had a lot of comments from viewers telling me I need to remove the rubber bands from the Crocodile Locomotive to keep it from derailing. It has puzzled me because I don't think I have ever filmed it derailing. As you can see in this video there is absolutely no problem going around turns and crossings. So that is a fix a do not need. Perhaps it has to do with others that either built it wrong or were using 9V track. I do not know.

    It was the 2 into 1 switch track piece that made mine derail. You don’t have one in that layout.

    The derailing happens ONLY on 9 volts tracks, not on the modern tracks.

      Ah - makes sense. Must use it the way it was designed to be used. I think this explains the other people’s problems. It would then likely derail if I used the 9v track too. Obviously 9v rails were not designed for use with rubber bands on locomotives and that metal rail adds a bit to it. I am going to need to do a video on the 9v again because apparently they are also designed for a particular direction of travel

    That seems like a good Lego loco. I guess it depends on how you build the loco then

    If you are pushing the locomotive, taking the bands off does help for just about every Lego train. Other than that, the train is spectacular!

    Yeah it’s the 9 volt track not the modern tracks that cause the problem

    If you make the tracks turn left and right at the same time, there is a higher chances of derailing

    My Crocodile used to derail all the time. I fixed it by filling up the one plate gaps above the outer bogies. You must have really level floors; see what happens if corners are angled up/down or switches aren't put in the ideal direction.

    • @BrickTsar
      @BrickTsar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look at the thumbnail - the floor is not level between the carpet and the slot car track

    Look at how yours is going around the corners. That is not smooth.
    Removing the elastic bands on mine has made it a MUCH better runner in my experience. It now goes through curves and switch points smoothly without slowing down like yours does.

    • @BrickTsar
      @BrickTsar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh good grief. Even when it doesn't fail people still complain. Mine has NEVER derailed even on this crooked track! That was the point

      This video is actually why you don't need to do that. It has been quite annoying getting the comments on my channel on how to fix something that I am not having a problem so I am doing a video to clearly show I don't have that problem. I just built it as it was designed and as you can see there is no problem

    • @joevictor53
      @joevictor53 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Jang put it best. If your layout is maybe slightly unconventional, you might have problems with the train derailing. If you do everything "perfectly", then everything probably works for you. It's not really fair to say there isn't a problem with this train and everyone who's had problems is building it wrong. Look at how many people have complained about this. All of those people have built it wrong? Some of who love Lego trains and have been buying and building them for years. I doubt it. If it works for you, great. But to say this isn't a problem and putting the blame on whoever built it isn't right

    • @BrickTsar
      @BrickTsar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe Victor one of the main complainers is a German TH-camr that complains about everything. I don’t think running on a carpet with multiple grades and custom crossings is perfect. My main complaint is that I’ve not had a problem and I am tired of people telling me I need to fix a problem I don’t have

  • @Stiegsfeld
    @Stiegsfeld 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    BrickTsar you fanboy of Lego must have faked this!
    "Held der Steine" - Germany's most successful TH-camr - said this loco can't even pass curves by own power. And it derails permanently when being pushed. And all his fanboys secund him in that in the comments. As he is the "Hero of Bricks" he cannot be wrong. You must be.
    So get the damn rubbers off your loco!

    .
    (just kidding of course - my own engine works well and so I am a liar, because my croco runs fine even through points AND pulls 9 heavy cars.
    And yes I also recieved comments on rubber. :-)

      Though I cannot speak German - I have figured from his videos that he loves to just talk negatively about stuff whether there is a basis for it or not. Sometimes “success” comes from being a jerk.
