    The 4551 is not a "real crocodile", but the German DR E94 or (later) DB 194 or the Austrian ÖBB 1022. It really has "only" 6 wheelsets in two bogies (in technical terms: Co’Co’).
    A "crocodile" in the proper sense is just the Swiss SBB Ce 6/8 II or SBB Ce 6/8 III (wheel arrangement (1’C)(C1’)).
    But yes, the term "crocodile" got somewhat "watered down" nowadays.

    That last scene with all the trains running is just majestic! LEGO Has gotten the first hint that we would like more trains, now they need the hint that we like opening doors! A bit fiddly on the new one but sure someone will solve it. And there was photos of a 4th Crocodile Train before the others but they never released it sadly. And those 9v cables need some love dude! Thanks for showing these. I really love the Hobby Train one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    The first one is like an ÖEBB crocodile. The second one is like a swiss one, but in their flag's colours, most presumably one operated by SBB CFF FFS. The third one is based on the realistic Rhaetian Railways livery of brown.

    • @rolexmike
      @rolexmike 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The third one is based on the first livery of the SBB Crocodiles which was brown and not green. Has nothing to do with the RhB Crocodile.

    There is an awesome Lego Via Rail that needs support on Lego Ideas. It might be turned into a Lego set that you can buy. It can be motorized with Lego Powered Up. It comes with a baggage car that can store canoes, a sleeping car with a lot play features, and a dome car with a lot of play features. I really want this train to achieve support and be turned into a Lego set.

    7:45 I actually agree that the black does not work very well for these types of models. While the system has been available since architecture in terms of instructions, it does feel weird that this particular 18 + set has a black background while the haunted house said released months ago had a gray to white background. I also thought that on the box art, while it is consistent with other models, it does detract from the reddish brown color of the train itself. When I first saw this I thought that it looked very dull because the box surrounding it was dull. I understand they're going for a classy appearance for the adult collector market, but they also could have made it look like a painted background with some mountains and clouds.
    either way I really appreciate the review and comparison to the other trains, I'm actually a little bit more interested in it now thanks to your video but I am very curious on the ease of motorizing it

    Finally another serious train set. Those pantographs are ridiculously big lol. I have a problem with you calling a singular locomotive a train but you say locomotive that many times to not make it a problem. you actually know the difference between a locomotive and a train and it’s not force of habit. It’s not like you’re Izzy’s toy time or anything lol. Anyway that’s not gonna stop me watching your videos and your not oblivious to the terminology unlike Izzy’s toy time lol. Additionally I love your comparison between all 3 crocodile locomotives. I love how you always mention the wrench and the radio

  • @PlasticGeordie
    @PlasticGeordie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What a great video. I loved seeing the comparison, and also a chance to see inside the cab, something the photos I have seen to-date have excluded. I would love to get this model to add to my rolling stock, which alas only comprises a 7740-1 Inter-City Passenger Train from 1980 (beautiful as it is). How I feel is that not only should Lego produce more trains, but also some quality railway station models akin to the Disney set (minus the Disney-related bits). Something architecturally similar in style (not in size) to the great stations seen in cities like Chicago, New York, Milan and so forth.
    Insofar as the trains are concerned, I think it would be nice for Lego to produce a range of models based on a matching style (for the 7740-1 Inter-City, they produced a matching sleeper car). A good engine, or engines, accompanied by a range of add-on sets including standalone carriages... then let these stay on the market for at least 10 years, to allow people to save/collect etc. They can still produce special sets. All of this business about sets appearing and then going off the market and being resold by people at a mark-up as they are no longer available does my head in. This seems to be already happening with the new 10277 Crocodile Locomotive. I know Lego limit number per household, but Lego.com (UK site) currently out of stock, but plenty on ebay.co.uk at... guess what? a higher price.

    The colour is very similar to that worn by some Crocodiles in service. My main dislike is that the actual locomotives don't have big gaps between the cab and the snouts. But Lego had to design the set this way to allow for articulation or the locomotive would just be a display piece.

    The 9V era Croc is a GERMAN croc not the swiss one like the creator set and the new croc... its not scaled down dude. Its a ERG Class E94....
    Look it up. Completely different loco

      Thanks for info. Either way you cut it - it is still smaller. Dude.

      @goclunker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BrickTsar Of coarse its smaller, its a completely different locomotive. I agree on the hobby train and the new croc comparison but the e94 doesn't belong. Its like comparing an opel kadett 2 door sedan and a trabant because they are both two door sedans.

    Just do a Google search. There are other colors but brown is pretty prevalent.

    Take off the rubber bands, it will prevent derailing!

    • @BrickTsar
      @BrickTsar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t have any problems with derailment. Is that a thing? The axles have to be lined up correctly. Check the instructions and make sure you got it lined up right. Maybe that’s causing the derailing? I’ll test mine more but so far it’s running good

    I won't lie, I think the crocodile locomotives are kind of ugly, but man if Lego puts out more Expert Creator trains at the same price point I'll probably have to pick them up, even though I don't have motors or a real layout to run them on
