It feels like incest is making a comeback in books, and I don't understand the appeal. I kinda (not really) get the stepbrother/stepsister relationships in contemporary romance since they aren't blood related, especially in the case where they're already dating and then find out they're going to be step-siblings. But a lot of UF and fantasy are leaning into heavily again. I never did read Clare because someone told me about the incest before I started the series and I noped my way away from that before I'd even begun. I'm quick to DNF a book, but it's hard to DNF mysteries because I want to know whodunit and whydunit. I read all the way through The Writing Retreat and hated every moment of it, but I wanted to know the end, so I pushed on... I regreted it... I'm glad you didn't. I love Jaws, but thanks to you and Kate, I will never pick up the book unless I'm just trying to punish myself for some weird reason.

The way you describe these books is hilarious. Also Blubber is a book I've had on my TBR since i read Are You There God It's Me Margaret. Now I can't wait to read it 😂

I didn't make it very far into City of Dusk at ALL. Like a chapter? Maybe two? It just wasn't my vibe man.

2023 was a rough new releases year for me, honestly
In 2023 I DNF'd 25% of the ARCs I read. In 2022 it was 44% hahaha
