The worst thing ever written was a story I wrote using Chat GPT where Harry Potter makes Ron a disgusting sweet and sour dish. Ron complains about it so much everyone calls him Sour Ron. He uses magic to try get rid of the horrible taste in his mouth and accidentally transports himself to Middle Earth. The locals ask him his name and he says Sour Ron since everyone calls him that. The locals mistake it as Sauron. They start to fear him because he builds a magic portkey ring to get himself back to Hogwarts but it doesnt work and he turns into a giant flaming eye.
"I wan't someone who knows me, not when I was this weird little kid crawling around in the mud, they can know me now, when I'm still crawling around in the mud" Pls Emma, that was the funniest
I say this as a writer in the industry, there is no standard in the industry. The industry standard is that where there is money to be made they can and will siphon it all out of every source until it is drier then the Sahara.
I watched a video of Emmie’s where she compared reading The Alchemist to having a Live, Laugh, Love decal in your house and I’ve been a loyal fan ever since .

I have the same problem with my belly button, I start screaming the second someone touch it 😂 I send all my love, I appreciate every video you film and I hope this year will bring you a lot of joy❤ Love from Italy
I was scrolling the comments to see if anyone mentioned the belly button part! 😂 I don’t get nauseous when it’s touched, but I get goosebumps and like a weird internal chill, similar to a brain freeze but in my stomach. Bleh, I can feel it just talking about it!
Slowly getting back to reading at least one book per year (used to read a lot but school and life made me busy + usually the books I wanna read come late to my country so yeah, but I'm slowly getting back into it tho) and I refuse to read most of the hyped booktok authors/books (rwrb was exception bc it was perfect to ease my stressed brain and I read it during the holidays, also having couple of lgbt books (which are quote popular on booktok) on my tbr) and I wheezed when I checked out some upcoming 2024 books and Ali Hazelwood is coming back again with a book with a vampire main character and an ALPHA MALE. A were alpha male. I propably won't read her works ever but geez this woman seems to write in a speed of light bc she almost constantly publishes new books left and right. Your ranting once again was glorious and I had a great time listening it. Thank you Emma and happy new year!
My last book of 2023 was Central Places by Delia Cai also because it’s about a girl going back to central Illinois for the holidays and I recently moved to central Illinois and thought oh wow this is me. It wasnt nearly as bad as you described Every Summer After, but it was just so odd. *spoilers* the main character leaves her fiancé that she had a great relationship with and randomly starts deteriorating when they get to her hometown… and he also completely changes and I think it was just poor writing not the location change… but anyways she leaves him to be with her high school not even boyfriend but crush… just so odd.
@@emmiereads yeah but there are funny bad books like Midnight Sun and really bad books where the author repeats themselves 100 times WITH THE SAME WORDS.
Emma I think this annual event/series should be called A Toast to the Roast. 🍷🔥 I just love these videos. (I can imagine you thinking in Holden Caulfield language: I always pick a gorgeous time to read a godawful goddamn book)
Omg I was so looking forward to this video!! We love red-wine-Emma!! I read my first Colleen Hoover this year which was definitely my worst reading experience.
Already looking forward to you doing this again next year! My worst book was definitely "The Pallbearers Club" by Paul Tremblay. It sounded like something I was going to enjoy, but really it wasn't worth it at all!
In the House in the Dark of the Woods by Laird Hunt omg I had to DNF it because the main character refers to her husband as "My man" every few seconds (counted 5 times on one page) and it was so aggravating that I could not take it anymore. The writing was so odd, unnatural, and choppy that it actually seemed like it was written by AI, like chat bot or something.
Although I love when you talk about your 5* reads, it's so entertaining to see you ramble about the questionable books you find along the way. Couldn't stop laughing when you told the girl to get her lumps checked out. Or when you figured out what gigamanders were
The worst thing I read in 2023 was Jonathan Livingston Seagull. It's an allegorical novella written in 1970. It was a big deal when I was a teenager but somehow I never got around to reading it. Lordy, was it tedious. Absolute dreck. Cheers, Emma.
I have House of Leaves on my shelf. After seeing your genuinely strong emotion to that book, it will remain there for a while longer… that book both calls and frightens me. I’m not ready 😅
Thanks Emmie. You make even bad reviews fun to watch. And, because I generally like your lit taste, I will avoid these novels. But I may read house of leaves. I don’t like books that seem intentionally gimmicky, but I’ve heard reviews both pro and con so I’m curious. Happy New Year.
I don't know if you have seen Jack Edward's videos talking abou the worst books of the year but similar vibes, very funny roasting of books, never thought I would enjoy these so much haha
my worst book was Twisted Love as well! I thought nothing could beat Colleen Hoover's books but then I read this and... wow (derogatory). CoHo's writing is not any better, but her abusive and toxic male leads are angels compared to Alex Volkov.
Hilarious! I didn't read much because I had state exams but I still managed 8. The worst for me was Hunting Adeline. I decided to try this genre because everyone is hyping it. And after this book I don't think I can ever trust another 18+ romance book. This was just so bad. I am shocked someone read the plot and said " yes, we are printing it". And considering 80% of bookstagrammers think it's 5/5 I am NEVER picking another hyped book. I will stick to thrillers and classics
I took a break from the Count of MC and started reading 1984 Julia by Sandra Newman. It's a retelling of 1984 from Julia's point of view. If your ready to return to Airstrip One you might enjoy this.

This was hilarious! Perfect start to my day💕 I read Below Zero last year as well and you couldn't have put it more perfectly, took the words right out of my mouth haha
Regarding the belly button thing, I 100% can relate. If somebody touches my belly button, I instantly get a stomachache and I just can't stand the feeling. I sometimes get the same feelibg if I touch it myself.
The reason for the next 3 books in the shatter me series was 100 percent monetary. If I recall correctly Tehereh Mafi wanted to only write the first three books and the publishing company was like actually do three more or we will drop you. I could be wrong about this as well but, theres a big gap in publishing between the first three and the last three as well.
Mine was Pillars of the earth and my god was I never more regretful about not abandoning it after the first chapter like I wanted to. But I was adamant to torture myself at least a couple hundred more pages to be able to rant properly. Secret history was not as bad, but up there.

I'd have to drink a lot to get rid of all the bad memories lol. Surprisingly don't think I gave any 1-star reviews last year, but I did give a couple 2 stars. "Girls Against God" sounds exciting, isn't.
I am exactly the same about my bellybutton. Augh just thinking about it makes me weirdly uncomfortable. Also, I am a space enthusiast and I think Mars is boring. Maybe it’s just me, but I think Mars is overdone. Let’s study Pluto. It has active geology! It’s wild!
