I think Eternity's "wish granting" is less of a wishing well and more of a way to dictate what form Eternity takes on. Eternity became Love, because that was the motivation behind Gorr's final wish. If Gorr's final wish was death to all gods, Eternity may have turned into Death itself or something even more frightening...

"Love is a dagger, it's a weapon to be wielded from far away or up close. You can see yourself in it, its beautiful until it makes you bleed. But ultimately when you reach for it, it's not real." I don't think it's a mistake that this was spoken by Loki, brother of Thor. It's hard to tell if "Love" is going to be good or bad going forward

Someone in theatre literally gasped at this part and I didn’t understand why so I told myself “I’ll wait for Erik to tell me why this is important” 🤣
I was literally speechless during the Eternity sequence, it was incredible CGI work and I can’t imagine how long it took the VFX artists to get it to look that good. I want more!

In regards to the bifrost reaching Eternity and not being used to stop Thanos:
Thor didn’t know the bifrost could be used (I would go as far and say that the gods were blinded by their power to know it either)
Thor couldn’t reach it until stormbreaker was created. Which makes me feel like stormbreaker is a taboo by giving Thor crazy awesome strength at the cost of opening the doors to other dangers (literally)
I believe the gate could be opened with other objects able to harness inter-dimensional (aka Zeus’s Thunderbolt) but Gorr was only made aware of stormbreaker for reasons like it being easier to acquire than others.

it shown that when gorr fist touched the necrosword, he saw an axe that opened the bifrost, so the only thing that could open the gates of eternity were the axe

Since Eternals has come out, there have been several installments in the MCU; however, none of them addressed the events of Eternals where the Celestial Tiamut was stopped/killed. How and when will this tie in to future MCU films?

I was saying on the same post that at some point I think they're going to have to have the X-Men and avengers fight against some of these cosmic entities. I'm not sure how this would happen but these threats are much larger than Thanos and if they were introduced before I don't even think we would take Thanos seriously.

As cool as it was to see Eternity, I still really hope that we get to actually see him and the other cosmic beings actually say and do stuff in the future as opposed to just sitting there

See i like this way much more. They are too OP to get involved anywhere. The only reason they appear in comics is to fix the "unfixable" mess the writer cornered us with to set stakes impossibly high

The screaming goats were gold. It was a very popular novelty item 2 years ago (I even bought one) everytime you tap it it screams like crazy.
This is just me spit balling here, but maybe eternity was waiting for someone to unlock the door to free him. Could have been locked in the statue for some reason in the past and Granted the wish as a thank you, now being able to traverse the universe again.
That would be awesome if the MCU went that direction

Eternity is everywhere and nowhere. I think its more like this is where other multiverse beings have created a conduit in which you can approach eternity for this purpose and be able to actually see/ understand him

The fact that we actually saw live-action Eternity in the MCU is still crazy!
Seems like a big jump to assume Eternity "expired" after creating Love. If Eternity is capable of creating things just by thinking it surely they could create Love without needing to die. I personally saw it as this being an avatar of Eternity, one aspect of them frozen at the center of the universe to grant the wish of whomever should get there first. I highly doubt Eternity is gone now or simply changed forms into Love, living on in them, etc.

At Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness they showed us the Living Tribunal and in this movie they shows us the Eternity,MCU is getting more and more exciting

6:20 The problem with the idea that realms are “buffer zones” is that What If…? clearly showed an alternate version of the Quantum Realm where Janet van Dyne became a zombie. Additionally, I think Eternity merely granted powers to Love.
You guys have done some of the HEAVIEST lifting for the MCU during Phase 4. And I say that with nothing but love and admiration for the MCU.
Absolutely, at some point fans will stop trying to desperately connect the dots and simply realize that directors don't really put that much thought into these projects anymore. They just want to make it big, colorful and throw as many jokes as possible on there. Obviously I'm still a big mcu fan but just kind of disappointed with their output lately

Just saw it and totally loved it! My only complaint is I would’ve liked another half an hour of run time dedicated to set up, the beginning was a little rushed.

So no, I don’t just think every movie should be 3 hours, I think the set up was rushed so that people like you would complain that it was too long.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I was looking at Eternity in an MCU movie. With the cosmic design and all. So crazy, just like this movie lol
Seeing eternity in live action is a huge jump we went to the strongest character we've seen being Thanos with the Infinity Stones to this thing which is nearly omnipotent
I think they did a great job with Eternity look just like the comic book.
Something worst and powerful than Thanos is coming for this part of the mcu journey. Eternity knows that and Love is going to be a big part in the later phases. Hopefully at comic con and d23, Feige and Marvel Studios shows us what phase 5 and 6 is going to look like.
Something I wanna bring up now that you mention that love is kinda some type of avatar to eternity I feel like if gorr never brought his daughter back and wanted the wish of revenge and the wish of killing all the gods he probably would have been eternity’s avatar if that makes sense.
I think the fight with Thanos was amazing and right now people are unable to wrap their heads around the fact that the avengers will eventually fight a lot of these cosmic beings.
I don’t think the avengers should be able to fight them. It diminishes their power and threatening presence
That's the...whole point? This is literally progressive storytelling of what happens when you reach particular levels of power. If the Avengers were still stuck on Loki & scepters you wouldn't be here lmao.

Considering how easy Thanos defeated Thor (on the ship) and Loki, I'd say it'd be easier for him to seek Eternity rather than the Infinity Stones. I mean, Gor was nothing without the Necrosword and still pulled it off
Maybe Thanos didn’t know of eternity. But I wonder how Gorr knew about him. I know people are wondering that. They never explained it.

Was that eternity itself in the movie or just a representation? If I remember correctly they say the ALTER of eternity grants the wish. Maybe the actual eternity being is separate and created the alter. We might see a more fully fleshed out version of the character in later films.

Okay that helped clear up that ending. I was wondering why Eternity chose to take on that form rather than just create the daughter of Gor for him. Interesting.
Of all the changes to the MCU that I’ve mostly embraced, I really couldn’t get down with the “Eternity is a wishing well” concept. It feels like the same watering down from the early 2000’s superhero movies where they think audiences are too stupid to grasp bigger concepts. I really hope Eternity shows up in future films and they clarify/retcon it’s story to be closer to the comics.
I was thrilled to see Eternity make his MCU debut in this, but I’ve been wondering why he never spoke or moved physically. That left me disappointed.

Well phase 4 seems to be about trauma and consequence from the previous events. Eternity becoming love might be because it knows what's coming like you said. It might get involved later down the line
I can't be the only one who thinks the goats screaming is a reference to an internet meme where a real goat screams like a human! Either that or its a callback to some behind the scenes filming of Infinity Wars (I think) film where Chadwick and Danai were in a scene talking to Bucky Barnes to give him the arm, but there was apparently this real goat in the scene that kept bleeting super loud ^^

Also, to my knowledge, almost all of the "screams" in screaming goats videos are dubbed to some degree. I've seen thousands of goats in my lifetime and see many more each week and have yet to see a goat that really screams like a human.

It's literally just an avatar of Eternity, Eternity is so inconceivably big that it's impossible to see the real him. Especially considering you'd have to be outside the Multiverse to see his true form.
Well we have seen characters as or even more powerful than eternity like Phoenix, Phoenix is actually the top most powerful don’t think that even LT could disagree with whatever Phoenix decides to change in the multiverse and like eternity it exist outside of it and it’s insanely big, we only have seen Phoenix in it’s avatar form and I think this is the case with eternity, that’s just his avatar form

I really like the concept of Eternity. I thought it was strange that Gorr would seek help from Eternity because I thought he was a God but after several research Eternity is an abstract entity and the embodiment of the Universe itself and is thus distinct from the Gods. A good analogy would be like comparing the president and the nation he rules over where God or gods would be the president wielding power and authority while Eternity would be the entire country itself, the embodiment of all the land and people that make up the country represented as one single entity.

i love how one of the most powerful beings in the marvel universe was reduced to a genie essentially, first hulk getting significantly depowered but I think eternity just topped the list of nerfed characters
Can't help but wonder how much the stakes would've been raised had Gorr met Eternity while still being in possession of the Necrosword.
Do you think he could have “killed” eternity? That seems dumb, I know Eternity can’t be killed but neither can Gods and they’re acting like a weapon of Helas can kill them. I know necroswords are powerful but you can’t truly kill Source. Maybe only the physical aspect of these Gods.

It's just you. Eternity has always looked like that (or close to it). More of a similarity than anything substantial - since the writers have gone through the trouble of actually naming the entity, I think we're more likely to see Galactus and Eternity as two separate characters/forces.

Yeah don't think E is inside Love. Love like you said at first is it's own cosmic entity. I do think this is dope how they have the higher-ups of the universe rolled in now.... Can't wait to see TLT with the Eternals, if that's who is judging them I also hope the cosmics become more active, at least certain ones.... Tbh I LOVED all the scenes with Gorr. Didn't care too much for Jane. I felt more connected with Gorr and his daughter than Thor and Jane.
