Amazing how far LSMs have come since their debut. The launch definitely has quite a kick. Overall good ride but the one aspect that keeps it from being in the upper tiers of world coasters is the short ride time. Definitely recommend riding at night when the canopy is lit up.
A little pissed you said the movies didn’t hold up. Tron 1 is insane and Tron Legacy is mind blowing and also has one of the best movie soundtracks ever.
I made a big mistake on halloween once. My mom and dad decided to go as characters from TRON: Legacy, using LED for the lighr effects - but I made the mistake as dressing up as deadmau5 - unaware Daft Punk made the music (and a cameo) for the movie
The sound goes very wonky starting at 8:27. The narration drops dramatically in volume and shifts to the right ear only while the coaster sounds boost up.
@@AmusementLabs Oh it's true, my hearing is getting worse by the day, it sucks. I am also working on a science lesson while watching your video and thinking about how to apply your stuff in future lessons while working on the one I am going to teach in a few hours. Sorry I missed your warning first time. I am sure I will hear it on future viewings where I pull stuff from your lesson for mine.
2:23 sums the thing about this ride up pretty well. It's "reminiscent of Tron". The Tron: Legacy film has a very distinct look and the design of this ride doesn't follow the style guide. Even down to the smallest hexagon pattern, the energy gate, the light stripts, are all different shapes from the movie. So you are always getting Tron adjacent but not actually Tron.
thank you, im glad im not the only one who noticed!! it felt like it was designed by someone who just googled "tron aesthetic" and just copied what they saw
Kind of like how Disney's Galactic StarCruiser Hotel was Star Wars adjacent, but felt more like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, or Fifth Element. It's almost like Disney doesn't want to pay royalties for art from the original works, so they make their own - just different enough to avoid royalties. Walt would never let quality slip like this, but this is Iger's Disney. Sad but true.
I rode Tron LightCycle Run with my sister in August, and I need to tell you what I thought of it: It was so awesome!! It may be only 90 seconds in duration, but as long as it looks awesome, it doesn't matter; I still love what I saw! How it works is really interesting! I've kinda wondered how it works; thanks for sharing!
I went on this ride in Orlando recently. It looks pretty intimidating imo from what you see on the ground but it's not really once you go through with it. It was a quick but fun ride in the end.
Rode it again. This morning at MK. Timely. Saw this when I can back to the resort. Still a great ride. First time in front. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Totally different ride in the front.
I've been on it both during the day and at night. The nighttime experience is more authentic to the theme of Tron. I would recommend a night run on the ride if you can. It's not a long ride, but it packs a pretty good punch.
No Splash Mountain for you - it's problematic. Instead, you get "Tiana's Rainforest Cafe". At least that's what it looks like right now, but it's supposed to be a ride. Someday. Just not today. But you could take a selfie it front of it, I suppose.
Was about to mention that, is not only for wheelchairs but people that had problem sitting in the bike. I manage to but it was highly uncomftable the bar that locks behind your knee area so I took those chairs and the ride was still as amazing!
This was super cool, especially that demonstration for how the screen turns invisible. I pretty much never go to Magic Kingdom, so when I did last year it was just to ride this ride. It was cool but I was underwhelmed by the length- but I also rode it during the day, which means no lights, so I’m sure that made a difference. Wasn’t planning on going again, to avoid making the trek to MK just for this (I’ll be connected to my favorite parks via Skyliner so taking buses is kinda annoying), but after watching this video I’m debating lol. I’d love to go at night. But only at night, for the lights.
As someone who doesn’t ride launched coasters that often, this launch felt wildddly fast to me. That LSM at work! It’s a bit jarring. But once you get up to speed it’s a fun experience, super smooth although short. Loved seeing the demos here! Especially with the PDLC. 😍
I would love to see one of these on the scoop vehicles for transformers and Spider-Man at Universal. Or one on the mummy. I think the turntable is so cool.
Some of the tech is cool. But the ride itself is lackluster with the handlebars hurting your hands and it only lasts 1 minute long for a Virtual Queue'd ride. You also didn't mention that there's an optional Car you and be on that isn't motorbike oriented that will fit other sized people. It's similar to the Guardian's seat.
I definitely recommend riding at night--The coaster doesn't have the same impact during the day! It's also unfortunately very short, but the smoothest coaster I've ever been on. This is a new gem among a lot of really outdated attractions at Magic Kingdom.
My family and I rode this when it was a month old and when the train hit the final brake run, my 12yr old daughter said at a level the entire train could hear, “thats it?”
Just got on this in Feb and had a blast...the ride itself isn't anything too special, but all thr effects, the queue, themeing make it top notch...had so much fun And any chance we can get a raging bull LED card???
Maybe this ride is good, I haven't been on it, but whenever I see videos of it it doesn't FEEL like Tron. The queue is fine & the station and vehicles are nice, but you are immediately sent out and that just kills the Tron vibe imo.
I got to ride it as part of cast preview thanks to my brother, it was alright but not as intense as i expected so was a little underwhelming, the ride car is pretty cool at least
I still don’t understand why TRON of all rides goes OUTSIDE???? If anything it’s one ride where being entirely enclosed and full of screens would make complete thematic sense.
I’ve ridden this several times since it opened in Florida. I’m not a big fan. The building and queue are more impressive to me than the ride itself. I find the vehicles EXTREMELY uncomfortable. With several herniated disks in my back, this ride is just too painful for me to find enjoyable. The ride also goes by so fast that it’s nearly impossible to take in much of it. If there’s any sort of story to it, it’s lost on me as well. Maybe if you’ve seen the second movie it might make sense. I’ve only seen the first movie, all the way back when it was in theaters more than 40 years ago…
The restraints may be uncommon but not perse unique in opinion. They are just a more advanced version of the restraints vekoma was already using on their motorbike coasters.
Yeah, it's unfortunately quite short. I assume that's cause of the turn radius of the trains being kind of limited due to size. It would've been nicer to have a little more than brake run, turn, turn, brake run.
I don't understand why Disney would make this coaster partly an open ride, and partly a dark ride. The open air sections, especially where riders can see the other guests on the ground, would seem to break the Tron immersion. Shouldn't this have been an entirely dark ride like Space Mountain? IMHO, another swing and a miss, like Seven Dwarves Mine Train, and Runaway Railway - two more underwhelming Disney additions. --- I hope Nintendo Land at Universal does better than Disney. Can't wait to ride the Donkey Kong coaster. 🍌
Did you just say "the movies didn't hold up"? You are dead to me. Ok. Tron Legacy wasn't good at all. The first movie is still totally awesome, if *SO* dated.
Agreed. First movie: Great. Second movie: Made by Disney for "modern audiences". Of course Disney ruined it. They had a perfect script from the video game "Tron 2.0", but Disney blew it. The same way they blew it when Disney trashed George Lucas' scripts and wrote their own "Disney Wars" scripts. You can see how "beloved" Disney Wars is by going to Ollie's Discount Outlet, and looking at the toy aisle. All those Rey figures, collecting dust.

Loved the demonstration of the polymer glass
My takeaway was even though it’s short it packs a solid punch. And it’s the smoothers coaster I’ve ever been on
These videos are the best! I love the breakdown of the mechanics. Learning about these crazy magic tricks is awesome. Thanksss!!
I absolutely love your channel. I’ve always been that kid busy looking at the technology on attractions rather than just enjoying the ride. lol

"through the magic of having to order five of these"
I see what you did there 😏 very subtle.
I mean the minimum order quantity to have them made is 5 since they make them on a tandem machine with 5 slots. I don't need all 5 so 🤷♂️

It’s crazy how long this ride took to built. Literally years just to clone a ride.
Yup, now to think how long it'll take them to build a park. 😬
blame covid - Disney was being very careful.
Thank you for the stereo audio warning, I usually listen on my left earbud and would have missed half your commentary!

Can you compare the speed feel to Hagrid, Big Thunder, or other coasters for a way to compare and measure? It looks so fun.
So, still no plans for a Paris variant?
That would be interesting, but probably not. I think Paris needs more than a clone.
Doesn't LSM come from Intamin like Hagrid's Motorbike??
LSMs are more of a term like "motor", anyone can make a motor. Indrivetec makes a good share of LSMs, but so does Intrasys.
