Greg Jones Hendrix knew his stuff beyond the blues. He had enormous respect for Manoli Xiotis a Greek bouzouki player. Never paid enough attention to Roy Clark. Will do now. What a genius.

I met Roy Clark in the dressing room of the Capitol Music Hall in Wheeling. Roy was in his 70s at the time... What a wonderfully kind and funny man. We talked about Hee Haw, spoke about all kinds of things- I had told him we have a little local band and I never could get the intro right on one of his songs that we would do in our show every night... after a while they called him to get ready to go on stage- which I thought was a cue for me to get the hell out of there- as I went to walk away I heard Roy say "come here son"... I walked out with him right behind the stage curtain as he sat down to warm up with his guitar... Roy says "let me show you that intro you was talking about"! He played it, then slowed it down for me and all that I could think about was "HOLY SHIT- I AM GETTING A GUITAR LESSON FROM ROY CLARK"!!!!!! It was so surreal. It was like a dream, but thankfully my wife had snapped a picture of me knelt down next to Roy's stool watching him show me that intro... so I know it really happened!

Same here. I think the most amazing part is how funny he is! His stage presence is just amazing. I always smile ear to ear and laugh when he does his jokes.

Talent, talent, talent! Today you get performers screaming, swearing, having wardrobe malfunctions, with no talent at all compared to Roy Clark...

Because of the TV show squidbillies I had to Google Roy Clark. Roy was so talented I am blown away. I am going to start listening to Roy I can't wait to discover his music. Once again squidbillies has made me a better person. Thank you Unknown Hinson.

I should've paid more attention to Hee Haw back in the day! I vaguely knew about Roy in my teen years but only Yesterday when I was Young and maybe a Rocky Top or Orange BLossom Special because my Father worked for midwestern country based/agricultural radio stations, but youtube bringing this stuff back shows what an entertainer he was. He's solid on the instruments, every one, but it's the banter - carefully practiced and kept in the holder in case he screws up. It's all part of his charm and act, yet it always leaves a smile. Now, it may not have been as much fun to LIVE with - the practicing and rehearsing and careful maintenance of the sideburns in the sink, but Roy made himself stand out in an entertainment field that viewed country as the visiting cousin.

As a teen, my buddies and I were total rockers, Hendrix and all that, but Hee Haw was the only thing on on Sunday nights in the Chicago area, and we watched it and fell in love with all of these awesome players, especially Roy Clark!
