Hi Mary: the cottages are awesome and I, for sure, will be staying. You are very smart to hire property managers. Managing vacation homes/air b&b’s is a full time job. My husband and I managed 3 vacation homes in Sonoma county, ca for many years when the owners went on vacation. Since you have light fabrics on your furniture, my suggestion would be to spray fabric protection on everything that you can. You will be surprised on how hard some guests are on your furnishings. So, protect your investment as much as you can.

We have rental property. I use to manager them myself. I think people take advantage of mom and pop. Now, we have management company do it. They get us more money and take care of everything.it’s great!
@@bettypecoraro8104 yes, it would make it much easier to get out stains. Most guests are respectful of your property. Others…not so much.
The Cottages are the best ever! We stayed in Apple Blossom May 17th to 19th! It made our trip to Ohio from Oregon, to sit on the back patio and listen to the birds, hear the clipity clop of horse and buggies going by and watching the neighbor down below planting corn with his horse drawn planter. We were hoping we would run into you but we didn't. I think we did see you later near Berlin on Township road, unless there is another red '72 Chevelle in the area! You have outdone yourself with your cottages! The attention to detail was second to none! Thank you and hopefully we can return someday!
Mary-I have rented some pretty nice homes over the years and try to be as respectful of these homes and leave them just as nicely as I found them. I hope people will do the same for your lovely cottages. You have gone above and beyond with the amenities and all the beautiful decor. You and John deserve to have guests who will appreciate all you both have done. It is exciting to watch it all come together. You can tell how much it means to you--a dream come true.
Looks so good. I hope this helps, but one B&B we stayed at had a black washcloth that had "makeup" embroidered on it so as not to ruin the white washcloths and towels. It was handy!
I have those in my home as well! Got them from Amazon.
I always bring along my own Makeup Washcloth from home, along with my toilettries, so I don't wreck the ones at the vrbo's!
@@DH-qz2so Oh me too - I bring my own hand towels and wash cloths. I feel bad getting makeup on the lovely clean wash cloths in motels etc.
I came here to say this, too. It was recommended by someone who has airbnbs and really saves on having stained facial washcloths.
Very nice! My hope is that guests respect the cottage interiors and keep them nice-looking. BEAUTIFUL. It takes SO much to put these together.
I love the green and white combo! Suggestions: Places to hang coats, floormats inside and outside (I lived in the country for 20 years without sidewalks and the gravel and grass that got inside was incredible-you don't want to scratch your beautiful new flooring!) broom and dustpans as well for the person like me that does not want to leave a mess! Candles for ambiance and in case of power outage.

You have thought of everything a guest would need! It is just perfection. I love the "English Cottage" back splash! Your style is impeccable....
Mary, just a little tip for the curtains, if you put toilet paper rolls between each pleat it holds them nice.🏡
I love all of your choices. The bathrooms look so luxurious! You could make a little patch for your ottoman, like the tissue box, "Put your feet up".

The cottages are outfitted better than any air b&b that I have ever stayed in. My stepdaughter always finds the most outstanding vacation spots. You’ve done great.

Hi Mary we had a bed and breakfast for a while. We met many people from all over the world. I had a journal book inside on the desk so our guests could write in and leave a comment. I love looking through it now and remember our guests.
Wow! The cottages are absolutely beautiful, so warm and inviting. Truly a dream come true ❤️ Your eye for decorating is amazing, everything coordinates so nicely! I only have one suggestion that I think would be interesting for you and your guests: a journal for them to write a review of their stay, their name, and where they traveled from, any thing they enjoyed etc in the area. It would be fun for you and John to see what they liked best, and future travelers to read!

Hi Mary! Thank you for the update on your cottages; both are simply gorgeous! You have great taste; I love everything you picked out. I wish you every success and happiness with renting them. If I had to choose, I would say #1 is my favorite. I like the darker wall tile in the kitchen, and the bathroom floor tile. ❤

Outstanding overall design Mary! These cottages would be my own personal choices for a perfect retirement home. Love everything you've done to make them so welcoming and comfortable.
Mary, you and your husband have absolutely beautiful cottages! I’ve never seen any places more beautifully decorated than yours! I certainly hope all the people who rent from you take the best of care of everything you have. My husband and I owned rentals for many years and they weren’t always occupied by the best of tenants. Be sure you charge enough to cover extra for damages. I know you will get lots of good replies from happy visitors who spend time in your cottages!

Everything looks so lovely & will be cozy too when completed!! It sure takes ALOT to make first class cottages Air B&B!! I give you, John & your boys so much credit!! One little suggestion, black wash cloths embroidered " make up". They sell some on Amazon.

EVERYTHING LOOKS LOVELY! I like the tile in the kitchen. It ties in with the beams and wooden cabinet. I love the black, white, wood and green!!! I hope to stay here someday!

Back in 2018, my family was the first guest at a newly built VRBO cottage on a lake... there were still things inside drawers, in packages, that still had price tags on! and many things missing (kitchen towels, and no steak knives... we all shared one knife at dinner!) One thing I notice that many VRBO's are missing from when we are guests are: not enough kitchen towels, nor scrubbies for hand washing large items...and there is never any cleaning supplies left for the guests to use during their stay, to wipe down counters, tables...or to clean the bathroom and no toilet brush either!
One we just stayed in in Florida didn’t have a bath mat. I went and bought one right away, but I shouldn’t have had to do that.
I watch you all the time. But this is so fun watching the cottage set ups. I truly enjoy everything you do. Congratulations on your whole projects.

WOWZA!!! Everything looks amazing! Anyone would be so blessed to rent one of your cottages. You're living a dream of mine. Not so much owning an Air B&B, but living in a beautiful farmhouse, and creating things for it, the way you do. I actually would love to live in a cottage house that looks like these. It's just me, now, & I don't see that happening so I'll live vicariously through you. Lol. Keep up the incredible work you do!
As popular as Tide is, you may be surprised to find a lot of people have allergic reactions to it. My husband breaks out into hives and so we never used it. When our daughter left for college she thought she would give it a go and bought the tide free and clear for her herself. Her first week she calls me crying with itchy hives, it was the Tide! She couldn’t even give it away! She put a free sign on the bottle in the communal laundry room and it stayed there for a month. She comes home for a weekend and we’re laughing about her Tide fiasco with friends and some family and they all were allergic too! We’re fine with Gain or Arm and Hammer. Maybe something to keep in mind. Your cottages are breathtaking. ❤️❤️
I use Tide, haven't had problems and I have lots of allergies. But wondered if maybe Mary you could look into the new self dissolved detergent sheets that are so earth friendly and little to no rubbish at all.

You can tell that the people who rent the cottages will not only feel it but they will also consider it a home apart from being very beautiful and elegant, especially with touch and love for all the stuff and the interiors with Ms. Mary, I love it! Congratulations and the family!
The cottages are so lovely, well designed, thought-out and decorated.
If you have a sleeper sofa, you might want an armoire if you can fit it maybe on the wall where your table will go so that when they remove the cushions and pillows they could put them in there instead of the floor. Can’t tell by video how big space is.
I hope every guest uses the same care for decor/furnishings, etc. that you have given in decorating and furnishing these lovely cottages!

Oh also..wow the black bench 😍 its kinda of a mud bench...that's what it reminds me of. Perfect near the door. Wet, muddy, or just working out perfect for keeping that bench to sit on as opposed to sitting on the sofa. Great 💡 idea!!!
Love everything that you've shown in the cottages! What fun that would be to get to the point where you are choosing the decor and setting everything up! I imagine it's been stressful too because you have SO many decisions to make! You have succeeded in making those cottages extremely warm, cozy, comfortable and very classy at the same time. Wonderful choices! I think the colour of the brick backsplash coordinates beautifully with the wooden ceiling beams. :) ~~M~~

Hi Mary I am from Maine and have been to Katahdin it is windy at the top at least when I have been there I am from Bangor Me but lived in Millinocket Me Moosehead Lake is a beautiful lake I also lived in the Doverfoxcroft area a little town called Atkinson I remodeled an old farm house and had so much fun found an old wagon in the woods out back of the farm house pulled it to my lawn lol and painted the wagon wheels and built a big flower box and filled it with flowers and got so many compliments on it I had old cast iron beds I redid dressers I love your cottages they are bright and cheery ! My grandmother was a Penobscot Micmac Indian From Maine Also I love to Paint I do a lot of the Maine Coast it’s what I miss the most had to move due to my husbands job and my children Married and settled in here I get so homesick for Maine but this is where my children and grandchildren are can’t leave my babies lol but I do go home and visit my Family stay happy healthy and safe …Julie ❤️😊
Mary your taste with every purchase and furnishings in both cottage is exquisite,I love each cottage. I could live in either one full time. So light and bright and cheerful and tastefully done the workmanship is gorgeous with each room making its own statement,the beams,windows and fixtures.I am wishing you and your husband much success with your cottage business and many Blessings. Everything is so homey and beautiful! The only thing I would strongly recommend is going with all free and clear, unscented cleaning and laundry products, soaps, and etc, so that folks with allergies to scents and unhealthy products would be able to stay there too!
I was going to say that too! I always suffer when places use all the scented items.

We stayed at an Airbnb not too long ago and they provided a dark colored washcloth in the bathroom with "makeup" embroidered on it. I thought that was a great idea.

The cottages are both very nice. I love the brick wall in the one, but also love the vintage touches in the other. The only thing I can think of to add is lots more area rugs. They seem a bit cold feeling with the high ceilings and a lot of white.
Hello Mary! As someone who rents Airbnb’s I always appreciate when they have a dark washcloth that says “makeup remover” or something like that. Then you know that is to remove your makeup! 😊. I am so excited for you all!
Hello Mary from Windmill Flower Farm in No Ca. Always enjoy your videos. I thought I would mention that a few times when we rented vacation homes, they would have items for sale, particularly the furniture. There was information that the owners of the house partnered with the furniture pieces or art work or decorating items and if interested, a person could call them and buy the item in the house. There was a house once that had partnered with an antique dealer and the piece of wardrobe or end table was for sale. Just thought I would mention since you several of your items are furniture companies or local craftspeople, or even yourself to sell items in your cottages. It would be such a delight to stay in either of them, you guys did a wonderful job. Best Wishes.

Hello. I think the brick is not bad at all. It will match other items in the home like other natural woods and glass light fixture and whites throws. It will give balance and the light fixtures go very well. Great job!! I like all your findings even the garage sale finds.🤗

I love getting up Wednesday morning and watching your videos (= As much work as it is to unpack & put away all of the new things in your cottages, it still must feel a bit like Christmas morning! Your cottages are beautiful, and a bucket list item for me is to stay at one of them with my sister, who got me hooked on your videos. I live in PA, and she's in Washington State, so we need to coordinate to make it happen!!

I love that you have a dedicated cabinet for garbage/recycling. Many years ago I was invited to see a neighbor’s remodeled kitchen and there was no garbage can in view, I asked where it was, and she opened a cabinet and pulled it out…a few years later when we remodeled we also hid ours away, I think that has the potential of making or breaking the overall aesthetic of a kitchen. ❤️

🌻Hello Mary, I so enjoyed this tour and watching you set up the lovely cottages. So comfortable and truly “homey” which is wonderful. If I ever come as a guest I may not leave!! These would be a perfect retirement home/size for me! It’s hard for a woman alone to find a small home in a secure location to enjoy owning a retirement home while enjoying convenient and beautiful surroundings.
