There is a level you missed that is above all those, an "immortal frag king" who stores them in a wine cooler he bought specifically for storing fragrances where he went out of his way to black out the glass panel door so that no light whatsoever gets in and the fragrances are kept at the ideal cool constant temperature(lower shelves at 8 C for summer citrus fragrances, upper shelves at 14 C for heavy winter fragrances).

@@JetofOZ-vs5rr Hey there. Quick question: When it comes to storing fragrances, if your fragrance(s) are kept in a bag/backpack or rucksack for a few hours (say for example you carry your fragrance with you in its box and the box is kept in your bag/rucksack, does it make any difference if it's not stored upright for a few hours till you get home and store it upright in a cupboard)? I ask because I want to take my fragrance to work with me in my backpack and I'll keep the fragrance in its box but with me walking around with my backpack on to and from work, do you think will it make any difference to the potency of the fragrance after a while? I appreciate the reply. Thanks.

@@enterthebruce91 i don’t think so but the possibility of breaking my perfume is too great of a fear. I would decant it into 5-10ml atomizer. I even broke a decant bottle once. Lucky it was not the original bottle. But that’s enough to make my heart bleed.

the style of the bottle is part of the aesthetic of my room decor, of course they are on a shelf away from light. Everything has a risk. imagine having to open a box everytime you want to wear a fragrance. shit half the time I just open a bottle take a sniff to remember how it smells. lol

I store in their box in my cupboard drawer as well. Some of them have nice boxes that you should not be throwing them anyway e.g. Penhaligon's boxes.
The box will also drive the price up if you ever want to sell it!
I actually went one step ahead and keep the cellophane plastic on the box. I just cut an opening at the top and leave the rest of cellophane intact. As a bonus the cellophane will protect the box!

      I do the same.
But sometimes I really think its a shame, to keep the beautiful boxes and then put all of them in a drawer where you can't see and enjoy them.
Take Lattafa Khamrah e.g. I love the presentation with the mirror like reflection wall behind the bottle.
Sometimes it really is hard to decide wetter keeping quality high or enjoy the sight of your purchases.

I am an Olfactory Overlord but there is a level above me which I fail to attain although I should, living as I do in South Australia where summer temperatures are often in the 30s to low 40s degrees Celcius (think 86 to 108 degrees Fahrenheit). A few obsessives maintain their treasures in controlled temperature environments such as wine coolers.

If I know I'm going to use one, I do take it out and let it sit at room temperature to warm up a bit first before spraying though. Writing this down and reading it does make me wonder if the colder temperature would actually help it stick better though, I mean, because it's more viscous.

100% false I put on fragrances every single day and I alternate through my several dozens of them, and Guess what they’re all in their original boxes. I don’t mind taking 10 extra seconds to remove them from the box apply the fragrance and then return them to their box.
If I don’t take care of them, they will expire before I use them due to the fact that I own so many fragrances and purchase new bottles so often. I am bit of a fragrance enthusiast, and I call it one of my few my hobbies.
Admittedly I tend to be a bit excessive with my passions, but it always pays off. I find it very rewarding, knowing that I’m doing all that I can to get the most out of my hobbies.

Only with cheap fragrances you don’t mind ruining as extreme temperatures are not good for fragrances

@@SchoolOfScent ahh okey. Thank you. I just store and edt Invictus in fridge. Just a chill temperature because the damage it may cause when it will be stores in my room in a hot weather here in my country is a bit worrying. So chill temperature is my preference

I store my fragrances in a 30,000 dollar safe, buried in a climate controlled chamber 10 feet under my house.

This video is pretty bad because it neglected to talk about temperatures and how to keep fragrances at the right one at all times.
