  • Travelogue and detailed trekking guide on the McLeodganj - Triund - Snowline - Ilaqa - Lahesh Caves - Indrahar paas trek
    It is an easy to moderate trek up to Triund and can be done by anyone without knee/heart issues. You can book tents from Mcleodganj or Dharmshala. No need to book trekking guide as entire trail is properly laid and there is no chance to get lost ( unless you want to get lost). You can also pitch your own tents.

    Nice video. Is it advisable to do this trek around February on our own or do we need a guide?

    • @XTraveler
      @XTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +varsha rana You can do trekking up to Triund on your own. If you want to go further towards Lahesh caves then also it's feasible but Indrahar paas should better be done with a guide.
      February month is not suitable to go beyond Triund due to snow.

    hiii...we are planning to go triund in july middle...and will spend a night there in tent..is weather will be ok then???please let me know..

    • @XTraveler
      @XTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      July is one of the monsoon months, so trekking is not preferred by many. However, the crowd will be lesser and weather would be more dramatic. It's absolutely fine to spend the night in the tents, they resist rain pretty well. FYI : Triund receives very high precipitation, almost half of the days of the year it either rains or snows!

      Between these two, triund is more beautiful. You can go further up in both treks but porter and guide is reccomended. There are many other treks in the Pin-Parvati region that you can search. If you are religious then you can try Manimahesh Kailash trek also!

    • @XTraveler
      @XTraveler  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as my experience goes, there are relatively lesser insects in these hills compared to Western ghats and other dense forests.
      You should avoid monsoons. In other season insects would be less.

    What'd you prefer-till triund or uptil Snowline? Coz im planning one next week. And roughly how many nights/days would it take for a whole round trip?

    • @XTraveler
      @XTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I was travelling so could not reply on time. I hope this answer helps others at least : Snowline is any day better, but it depends on how much energy you have left and what you expect from the trek.
      For partying people, Triund is more suited. One can spend 1-2 days there. Snowline is for nature lovers where it is spoilt less and seems peaceful.
      For entire trip one should take out 2 days at least.

    Hi, Great Video! Can you please suggest me a decent place (Don't want to stay in Hotels. Homestay or hostels would be perfect.) to stay within Rs.500 before going for the Triund trek.
    TIA! :)

    • @XTraveler
      @XTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can check out Once in Nature lodge/hotel in Dharmkot for around 400-500 bucks per day. Once you reach Mcleodganj, take an auto for around 70bucks which will drop you to Dharmkot where the Triund trek starts. This is the best place to stay before the trek.
      Most of the rooms near the far side of Dharmkot are cheaper than Mcleodganj, while most rooms in Dharmshala are expensive than that.

    Rent of the tent is only for day or day night??

    • @XTraveler
      @XTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They charge for entire day. Usually 400 to 1000 depending on peak/non-peak season. Also depends on inclusion of 3 times of meal or not,etc.
      If possible, then it makes more sense to buy a tent from Decathlon @ around 2k and use it for treks, if you plan to go for at least 2 treks every year.

      +Saurabh 567 not a good idea.
      Precipitation (Rain or snow) usually starts later in the day and trekking becomes difficult. You can go if weather is fine and you can trek fast and have already booked a tent. Else not a good idea. It's better to trek early

    • @XTraveler
      @XTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can ask for a tent+food combo deal at Triund itself or ask around in Mcleodganj for a package. It will be cheaper at Triund.
      Else you can make a day trip from Mcleodganj and return back in the evening. You can do round trip if your family is more comfortable staying in the tent.

    • @mukulp960

    • @XTraveler
      @XTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would get pretty cold in Nov. You should try for other places if you are going with a toddler/infant. Triund is a borderline zone for high altitude and safe for adults but I am not sure about infants. Please consult a paediatrician!
      I suggest you should plan a trip to Rajasthan, Gujarat, etc in Nov, Dec. If you want to travel to hills then Nepal is a great idea for the family vacation that time as it remains relatively optimum in cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, etc. which are also relatively low altitude.

    • @XTraveler
      @XTraveler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, usually it does not snow in November. However, it is pretty cold.

      Sorry for delay in reply.
      1. I am not really sure about which agency is better. However, one suggestion from my side, book trek as close to the place as possible for best rates. You can reach Mcleodganj and get rates from people over there and compare their prices and services.
      2. I used Nikon D5300. However, later I mostly travel and shoot with smartphone. Its much lighter and versatile. At least for treks it becomes a 3-5kg for full DSLR setup vs 190g for decent flagship phone. Still DSLRs have their own advantages too. You can get similar video quality from any DSLR from Nikon and Canon in 30 to 50k price range. Above that price, Sony A6500 and Panasonic GH5 are some popular choices for video shooting.
