Steam dropping support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 as of January 1st, 2024

Hello everybody! Today's video is about Steam planning on ending support for anything prior to Windows 10 (7, 8.x) as of the beginning of next year. Considering Valve uses Chromium for their built in browser, I guess this really shouldn't come as a surprise. Also, I talk about why you should never dual boot Linux and Windows, especially on the same drive.

Hey man yeah I will not update Windows to Windows 10 so yes I will need it.

upgraded everything on this HP built in 2011....
CPU, GPU, memory, power supply, SSD, cooling heat-sink, PCI ethernet card, molex fans, monitor and it runs great.!!!!
what a shame....

Support is being dropped because Steam is web based and the newest Chromium is dropping support for older OSes.

Well just like with XP and Vista, there should be a way to prevent Steam from updating at the end of this year !!😎

@@himmelskibet Yeah just saying it wasn't so much Valve's decision as Google's. Wish they would make a barebones legacy client without the web stuff but its probably such a small market its not worth the RND for them.

@@screwb1882 Or better yet, how about switch to Firefox embedded? Firefox is still supporting 7 until next September.

The good news is just like with XP and Vista, I am guessing it sgould be possible to keep using Steam on 7-8.1 for at least another few years, albeit an older build
