What is that I see coming down the tracks? The little engine from the Island of Sodor has taken a vacation from shunting those trucks and hauling those so-called freights, to pull excursions over the former Pennsylvania Railroad's Belvidere-Delaware Branch. He teams up with our very own NYS&W #142 to take passengers for a scenic ride along the Delaware River. During this event, NYS&W 142 pulls the River Train bound for the Susquehanna Mine stop, and Thomas follows shortly behind with his train, making this event an especially busy one at that. Join Thomas and Walter along the scenic Belvidere-Delaware in this special presentation brought to you by Blue Comet Productions!

WOW i didn't know strasburg Thomas was capable of doing high speeds like that amazing 2:48 it never did that in it's home at the strasburg railroad am impressed.
Its probably because there are less cars on the train or because he has to go slow due to there being farms around and animals might wonder on the tracks.
This Thomas was originally built in 1917 by H.K.Porter for the Mesta Machine Works as a facility switcher. Later it was sold to the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal and renumbered to 15. Number 15 and the other steam switchers were retired in 1965 after the arrival of diesels and was sold to the South Appalachia Railway. Number 15 was sold again to the Toledo Lake Erie & Western in 1975, then sold again to the Strasburg Railroad in 1998. The Strasburg Railroad intended to restore number 15 to operational condition and be used as a road engine. However it was determined her fuel capacity wasn’t large enough to make a round trip with a full train. But by a stroke of genius, it was decided to restore the locomotive and give it a cosmetic makeover. The saddle tank was removed and replaced with side tanks, the pilot was modified with a cowcatcher and buffers, the sand domes and headlight were removed, the smoke stack was replaced by a custom design, painted blue with red stripes, renumbered to 1, and a face was attached to the smokebox. All these changes lead to the Day out with Thomas event in 1999. Ever since then the locomotive has been brought out specifically for the occasion.

Phillipsburg used to have it shipped there until 2016, same with greenfield village which still has it come to their railroad

They replaced the old Thomas voice box and now its baby thomas...
shame that the strasburg thomas doesn't visit that place anymore. I've also heard that 142 is nearly completion and once the pandemic is over (probably sometime in 2021) she'll be back and running.

the animatronic mouth is a nice touch, the wheel rods kinda ruin the magic for me a bit, but i guess its easy to overlook when your a little tyke, Id've been thrilled to go for a ride on thomas's train when i was little :)

Did the Strasburg Thomas get fired from Strasburg railroad? And why is he inside of 15s body?
They loaned it, and it’s actually just a rebuilt BEDT 15. The easiest way to explain it is that BEDT 15 was extensively rebuilt to be a working replica of Thomas.

It’s the same one. Strasburg gets payed by other heritage lines to use their engine.
Its easy to tell its the porter tank engine converted into thomas btw there's footage on youtube were his eyes melted i watched it it was scary 😲
