Because, when the CO are doing the move back to station they can’t see much/of anything from Thomas or anything leading locomotive so they have the CO at the caboose to count the feet to the crossing so they can flag it then make sure no one is on the rails! Hopefully that cleared up your question
Definitely not worth it. The train ride has no views, all trees as a view. Nothing is themed like cartoon, just the front. Nj transit is a better ride. No Ac. Very old interior. Would not recommend to anybody.
