The restrictions are quite stringent to qualify. You need to have a certain number of hours (10, I think?) on the low-level course in the last 30 days in order to be authorized to drop into this canyon. I was there this week. Most planes just fly above the canyon at 500ft. Only one, an F-18, dropped into the canyon the whole week. Even the Air Force Thunderbird F-16 that came through with his smoke on, stayed at 500ft above the canyon lip.
I just got back from spending the week (minus Friday) at Father Crowley Overlook (had to camp outside the park on BLM land at night). That's the place to watch for planes traversing this canyon in the video. Traffic was surprisingly sparse though. Only a handful of planes each day, and only one that dropped down into the canyon all week long. I hear there's a spot overlooking the Kern River Valley that is now the preferred spotting location. 1.5 mile hike. But that's all I know about it. You can drive along the rim of Star Wars canyon from Father Crowley Overlook. It's on google maps.

I looked for Martin Knutsen Industries on the air forces providers database to look at better designs and could find it. I mean, because yours got to be better and smarter. Or you cant design a shit. which one is it?
Although the C17 is basically a NOOB (think that's the young people's lingo) relatively speaking to the USAAF, being introduced in the early mid-90s (I think)...Technology was kicking into high gear around then as it relates to the integration of air platforms with all other AO assets...The majority of the C17s are being flown now the newest ones are probably ~10yrs old or so...even so, I can not be for sure but this C-17 looks to be one that actually has been updated vs what they originally had or the "Legacy" legacy Head-Up Display system...This one seems to be the newer system, Due to the type of Helmet used by the pilot, the display or for simplicity's sake will call it the HUD components directly before the pilot as can notice near the beginning of the video...I could be wrong but does seem as if this C-17 does have the newer cockpit, instrument panel system providing an increased field of view, contrast ratio, and resolution plus a lot more. I know all C17s were being rotated over the past 3yrs or so to have the new cockpits installed. Obviously, when changing something out, very unlikely will be the same size or fit exactly like the old stuff so the layout to someone who hasn't flown a C17 may seem clumsy but I doubt it is clumsy to any pilot who is rated & sits in either seat of the C17. Simply due to repetition, whether something is clumsy, awkward or not, after 1000s of hours of flight time it becomes 2nd nature...maybe clumsy compared to the Legacy system but it's more of a familiarity situation than a clumsy situation because a pilot is not going to know if clumsy or not if nothing to compare it too...I'm still a little surprised the military allowed the entire fleet to have this done because it didn't affect airworthiness, the airframe and systems were still relatively new...barely 20yrs old when they started rotating them...
