    I just got this modem/router, I love it, I’m getting max 800download on wifi it’s insane! I came from the c7000 router combo and man so glad I upgraded. My c7000 was capped at 650mbps down Ethernet and 350down wifi when I upgraded to fiber, and now I’m getting full speeds! I saw a lot of negitive reviews about set up, but took me 15 min tops with spectrum and I was done with everything from activation, naming, password, settings inside the router.

    Nice review. I don't know if the argument for saving money is really there though. I don't know too many people that pay more than $5-10 per year for their modem/router combos from ISPs. It would take a few years at minimum to break even by then new tech is out. The argument for performance is there though.

      Thank you for watching and for the comment. Xfinity in my area charges $14/month for a modem router. I will have this thing for a minimum of 5 years, probably longer. $14/month for 5 years is $840. I’m not getting rich off the savings, but it’s definitely there.

    Does the wifi cable that Comcast or xfinity provide.. does that ever grow old and affect wifi speed or is it router snd modem that determine the speed and the cable will be good for years?

    • @DocValentino
      @DocValentino  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s a great question. In my experience with electrical/electronic connections of any kind, corrosion would certainly affect the signal strength. If the cable is protected from weather on both ends, isn’t damaged in any way, and isn’t being tampered with often (skin oils can cause corrosion), it should last a long time with minimal degradation. However, if corrosion is able to occur at any point on the cable or connection points, it would impact your internet quality.

    • @NATURALGAMING
      @NATURALGAMING 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DocValentino wow intresting ! If Comcast would need to replace a cable would it be fairly easy or would it pretty much involve a lot of extra work?

    • @DocValentino
      @DocValentino  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the installation, but they may need to dig up lines to replace them. They should be able to test the integrity of the lines for you and determine whether or not the cable needs replaced.

    Hello. I am stunned by the fact that I cannot find the cable adapter for this unit in the market. Can you please tell me what is the part number on that adapter? And, can you tell me if your adapter is a female? I need a female connector because my CAX80 unit has a centered-pin. I have looked everywhere and they all seems to have a MALE connectors at Amazon and ebay.

    I have the same CAX80 and xfinity plan of up to 800mbps, right now I'm getting around 400mbps and I have an issue with uploads, I installed the latest firmware from the webpage and still have the issue. Have you encountered something similar?

    • @DocValentino
      @DocValentino  ปีที่แล้ว

      Xfinity doesn’t always deliver on their “up to” speeds. My plan is 300mbps, and I get anywhere from 50-400mbps. They also have low upload speeds. I have always seen this inconsistency with Xfinity, unfortunately. They are my only high speed option, otherwise I would jump to FIOS.

    This Cable Modem Router cost $429.00 on Amazon. Why does this warrant such a high price tag?

    • @DocValentino
      @DocValentino  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not necessarily the one to justify Netgear’s product pricing for them, but if you were to buy a modem and a router with these specifications, you wouldn’t find that the price tag is unreasonably high. Pair that on top of eliminating a monthly rental fee for an ISP provided modem router, and you easily get your money’s worth.

    do you need a range extender if you want outdoor yard coverage? What would you recommend using?

    • @DocValentino
      @DocValentino  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the question. It really depends on a lot of factors such as.. Where the router will be located in your home? What type of and quantity of material/walls the signal would need to pass through to reach your yard? How big of a yard? etc. For me, I have this modem/router located in a back lower level corner of my house (not ideal), so my worst connectivity is the upper level side of the house furthest from the router, as it has to pass through the most building structure of my house. I sit on a .25 acre lot, and I can connect to my WiFi anywhere in my yard and driveway. I get automatically connected to my WiFi as I pull into my driveway.. This is with no range extender.

    • @DocValentino
      @DocValentino  ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose it would depend on the extender, and where you locate it. I don’t have a need for one, but I have used them in the past, and it certainly helped getting connected when I normally would have been out of range. Unfortunately, I don’t have any speed or latency tests to give hard data.

    • @DocValentino
      @DocValentino  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For the extra $100 that the CAX80 costs, you get bumped up from up to 2.7Gbps to up to 6Gbps internet speed capability (there aren’t any plans available in my area that get up to either of those). You also get support for 30 concurrent devices from 25, 2,500 sq.ft. coverage up from 2,000 sq.ft., and a multi-gig LAN port. Either one would work great depending on the size of your home and amount of connected devices.

      @@DocValentino thanks so much. I purchased the Nighthawk CAX30 AX2700 from Costco for $250 ➕ tax. Xfinity in my area only offers 1 gbps speed and they charge $110 ➕ for that. There's no other high-speed internet available around where I live. My house is only 1000 square feet so I think that this will be good for a few years without having to pay for a rental that will eventually become obsolete. • @DocValentino
      @DocValentino  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Fun Gamer Fever You would need to get a separate line from Xfinity to bring it into your modem/router (you would have a separate internet bill). After getting all of that set up, you may get some interference on the WiFi networks since the Xfinity one for your family and the C7100V will both have a 2.4 GHz network. Not sure if the Xfinity one that your family has has a 5 GHz network or not, but you would want to use that for your best WiFi speeds. Ideally, it would be best to replace the family one with something that can handle the bandwidth for all the devices, to have certain devices on the 2.4 GHz network, and devices that need the higher speeds to the 5 GHz network. Even then, hardwired to Ethernet is always more reliable. I hope this was able to help.

      @NATURAL GAMING I’m not sure exactly what you mean by down stream issues. If you mean your stream goes down in the middle of tour streams, there are many things that play into it. What equipment you’re using, what streaming software (OBS, SLOBS, etc?), internet upload speed (www.speedtest.net), settings within your streaming software. It’s always better to stream a little lower picture quality at higher frame rate. For instance, 720p at 60fps and 1080p at 30 fps will need the same bandwidth, but 720p at 60fps is your better option. I would make sure to have NVENC encoding if you have an Nvidia GPU and using a PC for your stream, and don’t have your bitrate set above your internet upload speed as a start.

      Hey Dylan! Thank you for the question. Honestly, it probably is overkill for you. It is overkill for me as well since my current internet plan is only for 300Mbps, but I have no concerns if I want to up my plan in the future. @Rod Scrivner Thank you for watching and commenting. I have been using it for a month or two now and I’m getting much better WiFi speeds than I did before. I feel at least like I mostly get what I pay for from my ISP now. Let me know your thoughts once you put it to use for a bit.

      @@DocValentino I will. I am in a bit of a fued with my ISP. Paying for 1G and getting 45 MBPS most of time, and have yet to see anything above 500MBPS, and only for seconds at a time..I was told by the tech, it was most likely my modem. So, I thought I would buy the most expensive one, I could find, to prove him wrong..It has better coverage than my old one, but speeds have not changed..You just can't make ice cream out of crap. I will update, after tomorrow..

      Yeah.. I only pay for 300Mbps, but would only get 45-55Mbps almost all the time.. even down to 5-10 at times. I consistently get around 200Mps now. My old modem was only rated for 100Mbps even though the router could do Gigabit, so that was my bottleneck. This has made a big difference for me, but those ISP companies get away with their “up to” speeds that they provide. They should at least have to meet the max of the next plan down from the one you have. It’s always a battle with them, it’s not just you.

      @@DocValentino I agree with your thoughts on speed. I have SuddenLink, and unfortunately, the next best speed another company can offer is 25MBPS..

      Cool. I’ve never used it. I’ll have to check it out. I’m curious what objectively makes it better?

    Waste of time watching you reading stuff off the box instead of showing how to connect etc. Total waste of time.

      Cool.. it was one of my first few videos ever. Thanks for commenting. It helps the algorithm. Even though you couldn’t be constructive in your criticism, I’ll learn from it and continue to improve.

      You set it up like any standard smart device. I didn't even read the setup instructions. The nighthawk app does just about everything. Insane signal strength. The matching extender has NO Instructions..The hardest part for me was calling my internet provider to have them add my device. It took them 40 mins to find it. COX cable is GARBAGE....
