Thank you for showing us how to make some dumplings. Because we are trying to learn some Chinese sides to go with the 5 or 6 good dishes that my wife knows how to make now.
In my 41 years on this earth, I’ve never had tofu (prob a combo of me living under a rock and the fact that I love my meat 🤣), but you’ve definitely inspired me to give it a try Marion ❤
I love tofu but I tell people it is a vessel for flavour. On its own it doesn’t taste of anything but add to stirfries/curry/coat it in a marinade or spicy batter and it’s delish! I’ve used loads of Marion’s tofu recipes and loved them all. Ottolenghi also has a great black pepper tofu dish though it’s a little spicy!
You dont know what your missing Try Teriyaki Tofu from a good Japanese outlet to ease you into the tofu craze Oh silkin tofu is by far the best especially with a sweet ginger sauce...Yum
It’s very firm, slights gritty savory pudding. That’s the best way to describe it. It’s just a mushy and super soft texture that is honestly just a fad, especially for non Asians. Lol it’s like they said it takes on the flavor of whatever you add. But do you remember jello jigglers? Lol yeah it’s that but flavorless 🤣🤣
I noticed that the pork mince you have available is so much drier, crumbly texture compared to the US which is wet and mushy out of the package. I think that’s why your finished dish has the beautiful little crumbly charred bits.
I’m not sure if anyone will read this but we were out at a great Chinese restaurant in Melbourne last week and had this insanely good dish of like slightly crispy green beans tossed in a spicy mince (beef or pork). We were running late for a show after so I forgot to take note of the name of the dish and of course the restaurant doesn’t have a website/menu available to see online. Can anyone name that dish?! So I can try making it myself. Haha if not I’m more than happy to go back if I can find the place.
Sounds like ‘Gan Bian Si Ji Dou’, obvs I might be wrong as I’m no connoisseur but maybe check it out and see if it rings a bell based off the ingredients 👍
Best wishes and greetings to Madam Marion ❤ U r a great teacher and super entertainer. Ur chuckles and laughter are very human. Love and hugs from Ceylon 🇱🇰 ! Satya.
