That proves that just being a great player does not get you in. There is a lot of Bullshit involved. When its extremely obvious the President of the Hall should be Fired! It proves that there are very Stupid people be there too for there very own personal reasons. Disgraceful.
I’ve been Raiders fan for 50 yrs & I saw every Raiders game. Snake was the best of the 70’s quarterbacks. His end of the game surgical strikes were a thing of beauty & no QB since has had as many “last drive” wins. He should have been in Canton as soon as he was eligible. He called his own plays and got hit every play (because you were allowed to hit QB’s after they threw the ball) but ALWAYS got up. He was tough and a great leader. To bad we don’t have players like that anymore. Snake, you were the best and I’ll always love you
As a lifelong Steeler fan, always respected The Snake. He was tough as hell - maybe the only NFL quarterback to consistently give the 70s Steelers a serious run. He should have been in the Hall a long time ago - but good to see.
I'm a Raiders fan because of Snake.Man,the Raiders and Steelers played some heart stoppers back in the 70's.Ole Terry Bradshaw was as tough as a bayou alligator!!!
I grew up in Oakland, so I was a Raiders fan. But I have to give respect to the Steelers and Terry Bradshaw. They played tough and took many Super bowls. I really got to like Bradshaw's offbeat humor. RIP Ken Stabler
And you say you are a Steelers fan, what about LC greenwood & Donnie shell they have 8 super bowl rings, criag Morton Beat out stabler and the Oakland Raiders in 1977 to get to the super bowl when stabler could have won back to back Superbowl but stabler didn't and Ken Anderson & Steve Grogon were just as good or better than stabler, you need to know your football fake Steeler fan !
Them were the toughest teams ever all of them and to get any where was an amazing feat.Lets here it for all the seventies men sooner or later I'm sure they will all be in the hof.
The fact that Kenny Stabler was left out until after his death is a disgrace. He should have been in 25 years ago. Although, I do think it was great how Favre mentioned that at the very first NFL game he attended as a kid, it was Kenny Stabler who inspired him to be a QB. Now, Jerry Kramer and Roger Craig should be next. How does the only guard named to the NFL's all-time 50th anniversary team get left out of Canton? And, how does the greatest all-purpose running back in the history of the game get left out? It is just ridiculous.
Given that it's now Aug 2019 and this video popped up in my recommendeds, it's better late than never for me to say. The fact it took until 2016 and to be awarded posthumously is more than a disgrace. I can't find the words to put it in it's proper perspective. The committee who votes for eligible players includes people from sports media. One in particular who worked for SI as a columnist made it known that he would never vote for Ken Stabler for the Hall because he disapproved of his "flamboyant" lifestyle, (ie: Studying the playbook by the light of a jukebox) . That infuriated me to the point of cancelling my SI subscription and never looking at the magazine again. There's more to this but I wont keep droning on. Bottom line is, the Snake is in Canton, where he belongs and a wrong was made right.
@tracie J. Wow, I never knew that about Farve, but Farve always reminded me a lot of Stabler with his fearless, gritty style of play. Maybe that’s why Madden liked Farve so much too?
A lifelong Raider fan The snake filled my childhood with joy to be a Raider fan. I loved watching my favorite QB the Snake throw TD Passes to my favorite Raider and the best TE of all time in my opinion Dave Casper!! RIP Snake!!
Should have been in along time ago!! Best come from behind quarterback I have ever seen AND could beat those Steelers teams in the 70s. No other quarterback could then. Staubach, Tarkington among others couldn't do it but Stabler could. I truly hope they do find a recording of the 1974 Raiders Dolphins playoff game (Sea of hands game). That was the Snake at his finest! Congrats to family of the Snake as he is finally in and well deserved!
the self righteousness of hall of fame voters never ceases to astound me. I've seen multiple interviews with hall of fame voters saying they flat out refuse to vote for him. it's great that he's finally in but the fact that he essentially had to die to do so is a disgrace.
Totally agree Todd, that game always sticks out as one of the greatest games I ever saw, I was 11 years old at the time, the TD that the "Snake" threw while being tackled from the back left me to be a life long NFL fan.
Ken Stabler finally gets his long overdue honour of being inducted into the NFL HALL OF FAME! Congratulations to the Stabler family on this great honour!
If you were not alive to watch Raiders games when John Madden was coaching and Ken Stabler was playing, well, you've missed out on a piece of life that is irreplaceable. RIP Ken Stabler.
He deserved to be in the HOF immediately after he finished playing. Finally he’s in! Just Win, Baby! Al Davis said it and Stabler made it happen! He was the greatest comeback player ever! He was exciting to watch at the end of a game because he would pull out a win. He was amazing because I watched him do this repeatedly week after week. RIP Stabler and Madden
Loved watching him. He just kept pulling off magical things. The persona of a winner. He had to strike fear into another team. He couldn’t be intimidated.
I loved the Raiders when Stabler played. He was never out of a game. How he pulled out victories out of losses was beyond me. He was incredible at comebacks. I remember finally realizing he could win almost any game. And he was a lefty! And of course, he beat the Vikings in the Super Bowl. Whenever I saw the Raiders down by 10 or even 20 points, I always knew the game wasn’t over. He was exciting to watch! RIP Stabler and Madden- Together again

My childhood football hero. I think he had 67% completion percentage one year in the days of downfield throwing, not West Coast offense passing. He just looked so cool and confident on the field. You always had faith that he was going to drive them down the field for a last minute win.
A friend of mine, Russell Erxleben used to kick for the New Orleans Saints when Stabler was traded at the end of his career. He said Stabler was a cool cat, party before games but able to show up and get the job done. The coach was none other than Bum Phillips. RIP Snake and Coach Bum.
Chiefs fan here for over 40 years and I did then and still do have great respect for Kenny Stabler, John Madden and many of the other Raider greats. Ok that being said annihilated those black and silver beasts!
Such a shame that a person, so worthy of being in the Hall of Fame was denied while he was alive. Ken Stabler was unmistakably one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of professional football.

I grew up in the 1970's when this rivalry was at its height... I loved the Steeler defense...I loved Ken Stabler just as much for his skill and ability to compete with that defense.
As a Raider fan for 50 years now, the best thing about reading these comments is seeing all of them from fans of the Broncos, Chiefs, and Steelers. The Snake was my hero and it sure is great to see him remembered by all of our old enemies.
i agree the NFL has for a long time been a thorn on the side of the RAIDERS org, they are determined to keep this team down with flagging ghost penalties, scheduling, stadium the list goes on and on,they hated AL DAVIS so much for challenging the league and going agaisnt what they stand for.
TOTALLY AGREE!! man sad thing is as soon as Al passed the 'flags of mystery' almost disapeared entirely..yet somehow we still have top 5 strength of schedule every single year nearly. we went 2-14 next year top five strength of schedule... blackballed by the H O F for so many great players its absurd. i boycott the hof game every because of this very thing... where is lester hayes? Jack tatum? todd christenson? tom flores? jim plunkett? dave dalby? i swear if Howie Long was not on T V every week for the last 2 decades he would still not be in... AND FOR COACH MADDEN TO GO IN AS A CONTRIBUTOR INSTEAD OF A HEAD COACH IS APPALLING ....I could literally go on and on... what a complete travesty
Should have been inducted when he was alive. He deserved to enjoy this day. Why does the NFL make this mistake over and over. He should have went in over ten years ago. I am not a Raiders fan but when people that are old enough to remember him when they think of the Raiders they think of Ken Stabler.
They were awesome on defense. I suspect some of their off field antics keep them and delayed Ken Stabler from being inducted. The 70s Raiders were the best.
I don't think so you are going a bit to far, if that's a then the Steelers steel curtain should be all in 78 Dwight white 68 LC Greenwood 63 Ernie Holmes, joe Greene we know#75 !
the Snake was smart, I read where he looked around the league at various opponents and who had the best defensive pass rushers.........then at christmas time he would buy them really nice presents........so they tended to go easy on him........Ed Jones was once being belittled by his coach for gently sacking the snake and Too Tall said......"its the snake, I didnt want to hurt him"......
His induction came too late this should have happened while Kenny was still living ,how many greats are 60 and over and are not in Canton that should be?
Does anyone remember Ken Stabler making his appearance at the Orange Bowl i think with all those security guards like Bill Goldberg or something lol that was cool
another atrocity is Kenny Anderson not being in the Hall of Fame Bradshaw and Ken Stabler says Kenny Anderson belongs Stabler said if he had a son and he was a right-handed quarterback he would want him to study the film of Kenny Anderson to learn how to play the position right exactly what Kenny Stabler said!!
Not a Raiders fan, but the HOF voters should be ashamed of themselves for not getting Stabler in earlier. In the era that really grew the NFL into the institution it is today, Stabler led his team EVERY YEAR deep into the playoffs, in some of the GREATEST GAMES OF ALL TIME. He doesnt have gaudy stats as a QB, but nobody did in that era. Stabler WAS an MVP, and he did lead the league in TDs two straight years as this video mentions. I just dont understand the voting process by these writers. To me, Ken Stabler is everything you want in a Hall of Famer. While its great to finally get it right, and im sure his family appreciated the gesture, Ken Stabler should have been elected decades earlier, and he deserved to experience his own induction.
Life long Chiefs fan here. Growing up, if I saw Kenny Stabler stranded on the side of the road I would have kept driving. That being said; Stabler deserves to be in the HOF!
I'm 53 and Ken Stabler was and always be...The Man!! God Bless Ken Stabler!! The Snake!
My favorite QB as a little kid. This is an overdue honor that Ken should've been able to personally savor.
RIP, Kenny
Kevin Pazyck I think the Rams will be too strong but you do have a home field advantage, best of luck 😁
Over due. Congrats to the Stabler family
R.I.P. Ken Stabler a true Raider
He was undefeated in his senior year at Alabama . . .one of the very best the game has ever seen . . .. RIP .
I'm a Broncos fan- and it pisses me right off that the NFL waited for the original "Snake" to die before they finally inducted him. Disgrace.
Yes! I always felt that way too. He should have been in the hall of fame many years ago.
Now they have done it to Cliff Branch. Unforgivable.
That proves that just being a great player does not get you in. There is a lot of Bullshit involved. When its extremely obvious the President of the Hall should be Fired! It proves that there are very Stupid people be there too for there very own personal reasons. Disgraceful.
@@KnockOffBeingFat yea, it’s like a sorority almost. Randy Gradishar should be in there too, but he doesn’t even get mentioned
Cowboys fan here and I completely agree.
Rip Ken Stabler 1945-2015
Rip John Madden 1936-2021
the guy was really clutch and born to be a raider. Long overdue election to nfl hall of fame, leo, longtime patriot fan
To bad we don’t have players like that anymore. Snake, you were the best and I’ll always love you
His Holy Roller play was tribute to his quick thinking and never giving up.
He stumbled back to the huddle after one vicious sack and told the huddle: "It just feels like a bad hangover. Fortunately, I've got experience."
He waa a legend at Bama too, I believe he had a crazy run called "the run in the mud"
As a lifelong Steeler fan, always respected The Snake. He was tough as hell - maybe the only NFL quarterback to consistently give the 70s Steelers a serious run.
He should have been in the Hall a long time ago - but good to see.

Took too long but "the snake" is finally in the HALL OF FAME! RIP
Greatness is much more than statistics. So deserving of HOF.
Two great Raider legends
Ken Stabler and John Madden

Todd Alan Tarkenton and Staubach were both better quarterbacks than Stabler, Stabler was the INT king
The tragedy was that the Snake wasn't inducted decades before.
The NFL had an agenda against Stabler.
Ken Stabler finally gets his long overdue honour of being inducted into the NFL HALL OF FAME! Congratulations to the Stabler family on this great honour!

THEY WAITED MUCH TOO LONG. VERY WELL DESERVED.
he was mr cool. mr. clutch
he should have went in one the 1 st try!!
For all you Stabler fans it's "Snake" not "The Snake". Stabler always said it was Snake. He would correct people when they said The Snake.
Life long Chiefs fan here. Growing up, if I saw Kenny Stabler stranded on the side of the road I would have kept driving. That being said; Stabler deserves to be in the HOF!
Kenny was a great QB
Ken Stabler not being inducted into the hall of fame while he was still alive is akin to the Beatles being called a house band!!!
GHOST TO THE POST
Snake has his coach now...the wait is over....Go Raiders forever....
