Thank you. I know requests to have an attorney present multiple times for at least patient during forced confinement were ignored. They were forced to take drugs that cause dependency. They were committed despite there being no harm committed and no criminal record. From what I can tell these people act without legal accountability even to basic human rights under the US constitution, and the UN charter.
“…how we define madness…” Oh no, how do we define DISEASE. Hello, Mr. Wipond. I came across your name and book while on Amazon. I’ve been an admirer and reader of Thomas Szasz for many years. I’m sure you have heard of him. Anyway, I was “hospitalized” at 18 years old. I won’t go over that, but I just want to say that psychiatry is the only so called medical branch where they don’t examine brains but insist that it’s diseased. I’m 60 now, and nothing has changed, but the propaganda seems to keep people thinking there is actual “mental illness.” Thanks for letting me comment. And the reviews of your book, Consent not Required, were very positive (on Amazon). Thanks for your interest in this topic.
Yes -- you likely also know "Limits to Medicine" by Ivan Illich -- we seem to be in a time where there are no limits, which is what Szasz and Illich and others warned.
@@RobWipond Thanks for responding. No, I have not heard of that book. I particularly like is The Meaning of Mind by Szasz. Limits To Medicine sounds like a good read. Thanks again. I want to add that I am all for counseling between consenting adults. I had a psychologist when I was a teenager, and in later years, my mother told me that he mentioned Reality Therapy for some reason. That stuck in the back of my mind until, one day, years later, in the community college library I came across the book Reality Therapy by William Glasser. I was astonished by it and thus started me on the road to really look into this and eventually reading Thomas Szasz. There is still a worldwide William Glasser Institute that teaches and promotes Reality Therapy and Choice Theory. I would also recommend his books.
Awesome discussion.
Thank you.

That's right, and it's terribly common.
