I'll be getting my first BAE 500 series pre tomorrow. The one in the video. I know BAE is all about quality and originality and I'm sure this won't be my only BAE product.
I just purchased a new BAE 1073mpl 500 series, and I realize my older one is a little difference with only 2 white buttons and the new one has 4. Also the older once seems like it is a little noisier than the new one. I'd like to have it checked out . Thanks!
Really wish the BAE had a HPF on the preamp. I like to take the low end out pre-compression to prevent it from triggering signal processing, then eq on the way out. I would need two eq modules for my workflow unless I go with Heritage, which in null tests has near complete cancellation with the AMS.
Why build the Mic/Line Switch in the back of the unit? Doesn't it mean you have to take out the module everytime you want to change the input? isn't that a little bit inpractical?
+Carlos Chávez Sahagún lt was initially on the front but people preferred the impedance switch there so we switched to the back. lt can be purchased on the front if preferred
The BAE is the cleanest design for sure. Is the 1073mpl true to the schematic of the original 1073 schematic or are their subtle mods to fit the 500 format?
Is it true Neve recently started remaking the Marinar transformers true to spec and is now in all of their recent product line? Also, to my ears the BAE’s always did sound heftier in shootouts ive heard so far, and i must get some one day, probably the 1023 because some really interesting eq features.
Is this information all still accurate since BAE became acquired by UK Sound? Also I'm wondering how the 500 series form-factor differs from the dmp. Is the dmp more similar to the 10-series as far as components and hand-wired construction?
Sorry guys! I need to correct you. The AMS Neve 1073LB has got NO D.I. Input. It just looks like that. It's a Line input and definitely not Hi-Z. You really should correct that. Thanks! :-)
