This is the REAL Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green- Jeremy Spencer- Danny Kirwin - John McVie - Mick Fleetwood, they just jelled together musically and made some amazing music in the short time they were together, 🤘🏼😎🎶🎵
This is FLEETWOOD MAC. And thanks to Peter Green for his contribution. He got them started & handed it over to them. Lets all give a BIG THANKS to Peter Green!!!!! ✌️♥️🤘
As a 37 year old super fan of Elmore James, I must say, this an absolute powerhouse classic of a cover/improv (the words are slightly different) The guitar is the best example I have ever heard of someone not necessarily emulating Elmore’s great sound, but jamming with it in perfect harmony. I absolutely love this song, and listen to it constantly when I work on my art projects. TH-cam is such a great place to find every classic. Thank you to everyone involved throughout history, that contributed to what I just heard.
These are the words of Robert Johnson's original (?) "Dust My Broom". "I'm gonna call up China, see if my good girl's over there. (X 2) If she ain't in the Philippine Islands, she must be in Ethiopia somewhere." Elmore copied his version, right down to the guitar breaks, but put his amazing electric guitar sound on it and really rocked it up. (Not available when Robert Johnson recorded this on an acoustic in 1932). Listen to Robert Johnson's version here on TH-cam. You'll also hear numerous Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin covers of Johnson songs.
Well... As Andrew said below, the original song is from Robert Johnson... But it is true Elmore James went much beyond in violence and harmony with this insane reverb. He reinvented the song. Green does something wonderfully cool on a par with Elmore's... But he fails to crank that song up to another level unfortunately, because he did not really want it. Canned Heat cover is insane... Buddy Guy's too... but what about ZZ Top's... Insanely loud... It is another generation of this wonderful's song.
I have never heard another player get Elmore's 'sound' like he does and he sings that way too...I'm almost 80 and Elmo James was a pop hit top 100 when I was in Jr High...he galvanized my bones and sped up my puberty.
Well,they weren't just a cover band.Have you heard of Black Magic Woman?That's a Peter Green song.Coming Your Way?That's a Danny Kirwin song.So many others.
They were always a great band from the very beginning. The core element was their rhythm section of Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. It's amazing to see these young guys in 1968, and think of all the fantastic recordings that came afterwards, and the incredible talented band members who came and went. Mick and John kept it all going.
I remember seeing this group at Pirates World in Florida. The amazing guitar work by Peter. Was flying over the music at that concert. It was incredible! The orginal Fleetwood Mac.
More guitar talent in that group than in any other at any time before or after. This is the original Fleetwood Mac, not the pop group with the same name.
I didn't see Danny Kirwin up there. He wrote some of my favorite FMac tunes, "Child of Mine", and "Bare Trees" just to name a couple. Bob Welch wasn't a slouch either, just not the raw blues style of the original make-up.. And then there was that dude who had an affair with Patty Boyd's sister when she was married to Mick that resulted in them ousting him, and cancelling the remainder of their U.S. tour. There's a trip down rock history lane for you to dust off.
You are right, Michael. This is PETER GREEN'S Fleetwood Mac, no Fleetwood Mac. This is the real good thing, the other is only pop, puajjjjj!!!!!!!!!!!1
FLEETWOOD MAC. THE REAL BAND OF ROCK BLUES ,,,, PETER GREEN OMG WHAT TALENT … OH WELL ,,,, GREEN MANALISHE,,, MAN OF THE WORLD ,,, some of greatest tracks of ALL TIME. GXX
I started bass playing along to songs like this around the earliest John Mayall era. Eventually got tired of 12 bar blues but I enjoyed this so much. Being part of a tight R&B section is fun - it's kind of hypnotic
This is all Jeremy Spencer. Peter Green is laying back on rhythm guitar here. If you love Peter Green, listen to Peter Barden's album "The Answer" to hear some Peter Green in his absolute prime. Wah Wah!
I had a double album of the Original Mac .It was so raw and perfect vocals were insanely good .lve never seen it anywhere since.just called Fleetwood Mac
Same FM lineup that played at a small teen venue outside of Chicago--The Cellar..home of the Shadows of Knight, greatest garage band ever. Prices for FM show were 5 bucks that night, thought to be a lot at the time, but worth every penny.
You can thank Mick for enlisting Buckingham Nicks ,who were recording in the next studio when Bob Welch was playing on his final Fleetwood Mac album next door.
With a talent like Peter Green in the group, it's easy for contributions by Jeremy Spencer, and even more so by Danny Kirwan, to be underrated. Jeremy does a good job of this standard.
Love it! This was Early on in the Fleetwood days. This Version Rocls just the same as a few others that come to mind. Every time I here Dust My Broom, I think of Don Mare doing a special wind and overwinding a Tele Bridge for me in a way that I can get those Elmore James Sounds with a little rollin' off the knob. I remember when he called and said it was ready.. He told about doing that. I was floored. We'd talked and Shared a love and respect for Roy Buchanan, Elmore James, and many others. But I'll have to say he surprised me with the Elmore James tone. Sorry. Didn't mean to drift off any. But hey.. it's all good!
Before Fleetwood Mac, there was a band called “Chicken Shack.” And their singer, Christine Perfect, did a great rendition of “I’d rather go blind.” And Christine Perfect became Christine McVey.😀
55 years ago! We rocked! I'm 81 now, still groovin 😄
Rock on Brotha! Don't let no one stop you
Ich muss immer lachen, wenn der Typ vorne im Bild zum Rhythmus tanzt, der hat ein Rhythmusgefühl wie eine Kuh auf dem Tanzboden.
I'll be 69 on the 29th!
Still rocking !!!
This is how I remember Fleetwood Mac.
Nice to see a clip with Jeremy Spencer up front and centre.
The. Best era of fleetwood mac

@@tomm2359 No he passed away a few years ago. RIP DUDE!!
@@cyndygough4107 Sorry to hear that. Thanks.
The Peter Green's era was so great!!!!
Just proves that you don’t need super fast guitar licks, fancy pyrotechnics or big stage productions to make music that moves the soul. ✌️

Have you listened to Canned Heat's version , in my opinion , it's on a par with this one
🙌👏👏👏👏👏

God bless Elmore James and the original Fleetwood Mac. From Genova,Italy
I was in Jeremy's band a couple of years after this. Once in a while, he did some of those songs. People loved it.
I met Jeremy at the Chicago blues festival a few years ago. He's a real survivor.
that jeramy was such a great slide player even today as an old man of 70 plus he still badass
Greeny and Jeremy absolutely drove this tune! I'm so privileged to have had these guys in my teenage years!
Danny Kirwin was a great guitarist, too.
Absolutely 😎
When Danny showed up He was the missing link then they were Complete
He sure was.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Ronnie Earl was another one!
Wow
The old days when Fleetwood Mac was a very good blues cover band.
Good song by good players.
Yes. The Real Fleetwood Mac. RIP Peter Green...

Agree -FLEETWOOD MAC AT ITS BEST
How edifying it is to observe some young chartered accountants & solicitors dancing in the throng to this marvelous tune. Jolly good show chaps!
It's in Paris, old chap. Very "fashionable" studio audience, hand-picked I bet.
Great version. So bluesy, just chugs!
can't get any better than that.
What an uncommonly attractive audience!

great days back then .... wish I was around then ...
So so so mucho feeling in this!!!

Simply awesome
The beautiful people ✌️🌹
Der Typ bei 2.15 der hat überhaupt kein Rhythmusgefühl, lächerlich, wie der da rumzappelt!
Heard them play this in Glastonbury town hall long before the festivals started
Damn! Peter Green!
Some people think "Green Manalishi (with the Two Prong Crown)" was a Judas Priest song.
It was Peter effn Green, baby!
Dusty❤
Gotta be the only r&r band in history that made such a successful transition from one music genre to another…maintaining exceptionalism in both eras.

Some beautiful women in that crowd !
The best band by far.
Lots of beautiful young women there. They r old now or dead. Boy time flies!
Played as it should be played
Everyone who was there is in his Seventies now. Just how much are you going to bet that they still talk about it?
Dead right, we still do!
Just a nice little club with everybody dancing and having a good time. And this great band. Wish I was young again (in the sixties).
I love Elmore James so much!
Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous moment, "things in life was so much more trendy and in a funky grove"🎶🌈☯️🤸

Como extraña el mundo esta musica....😢

Mick Fleetwood looks and plays pretty good for a shirtless drummer.

Love their version of Black Magic Woman. Love this too.
Peter green (the singer in this video) actually wrote it, Santana’s version is therefore a cover of fleetwood Mac’s song

Jeremy Spenser , took off in 1971, great slide ... Is this in Paris ?
Mick Fleetwood !! How tall is that man 😃 .. Wow 50 years ago

on all the tracks after 😂
Nice chicks. I also liked the background music.
We miss you Peter Green
This reminds me of those great nights at the Marquee in the 60’s
F. Mac played in Chicago on N. Y. E 68/69. I was there. Muddy Waters Band , The BYRDS ( with Clarence White on guitar) then F. Mac. 🎶 🎵
When Muddy Waters knows who you are and says you're good, that goes on your CV
Only Canned Heat compares for a rendition of this standard blues tune, it's arguable which is superior.
There are some beautiful women in that room...
