I can't wait to get my custom wheelchair, so I can start doing stuff like this. Right now, even though I can stand/walk, it's really painful and exhausting (because I have to concentrate on HOW it's done, my brain gets very tired). With a wheelchair that's made for me and ultralight, I'm looking forward to doing marches, shopping, walking my dog, EVERYTHING! I'll have to really train to be ready for something like this World Run, though. Not sure my joints will allow that. But living a life, not just existing and waiting sounds like heaven to me.
Sara, check out triumph-foundation.org. They are all about helping disabled children, adults and veterans to keep moving forward. Their website is full of info. and resources to help us adapt to life in a chair and adaptive sports. They also give grants to help people purchase adaptive equipment. For sports, check out challengedathletes.org. I wish you well.
I'm an able bodied person. And I love watching your videos. It's nice to learn that even when life is tough it's well worth it to keep pushing it always gets better. Thank you for the not only the Insights of your life and the community, but the life lessons that you teach. Keep making these great videos. Your not only helping people learn be independent with their disabilities but your also inspiring to have a better outlook on life than you so much.
I hope you realize how many people you are helping with these videos! I have really bad osteoarthritis and have to use a wheelchair for long distances. I am trying to not let that hold me back, but sometimes I just don’t want to have to go through the struggles. Thank you for showing us how to do stuff!
My goal is to reach as many people as possible. My relationship with my wheelchair and mobility had been in some dark places. Now that I am in the light I want to stay here and help everyone I can get out of their darkness 😊
I’m not sure why your videos came up on my feed but I am so glad that they did. You are such an inspiration. I am not disabled but, when I was 14 years old I had a full reconstruction of my hip and spent the next 2 and half years gaining the strength back and basically had to learn to walk again. Like you say in your videos, having an injury doesn’t mean you have to change who you are but you just have to come up with a new way to do the things the you did before. Thanks for being who you are and being such an inspiration.
At one point in my life it did. I used my wheelchair as an excuse to not do anything. I was miserable. Now I use it every chance I get because I know what it feels like to let it stop me. I won’t ever let that happen again.
I didn't even think to look up how to use a wheel chair before I get mine so that's why I clicked on this. Honestly this video made me tear up. This is advice I desperately needed like I expected it to be technical stuff but it inspired me instead. Thank you so much for doing this.
I’m not disabled myself but as a person I really enjoy this content. To see someone who is and how much they are succeeding is really amazing. I’m really happy that this is accessible to people who don’t know that you still have a life or really want to learn more about being disabled. Also my neighbor is a paraplegic. He drives a car and does things as regular as possible. I didn’t know that before I met him and it was really eye opening.
Hi Richard, You are our real life hero. I am not going to cry because there are someone out there not nice to me. I am going to change myself and look upon your great example.

Thank you so much for these tips. That triple A really hits home. I'm a part-time wheelchair user (health under investigation), and I don't know where my mobility is going at the moment. I used to be so active figure skating and acroyoga and running, now independence utterly wrecked and let's not talk about the mental state. Your videos really give me the confidence and have really changed the way I approach my mobility - THANK YOU. Please keep up the good work, it means so much.
I suffer with osteoarthritis and use a mobility scooter as walking for any length is painful, you are in a far worse state, and yet your videos are so inspiring and relevant, I’m sure that a lot of people will gain a big insight into their new way of life and want to be like you, you are a great guy, keep up the content really hooked.
Great content man. I like the three A's. Accept the injury would be my biggest advice to sci peeps. Get active would be my second piece of advice. I'm not a full time wheel chair user, but all of this applies. Keep inspiring bro, and we'll meet up someday.
Some of this advice was great. I wish that you could use the term new wheelchair user rather than injured. I have fibromyalgia and am waiting for wheelchair assessments at the moment. I've never had a major injury but I still need a wheelchair
Keep talking to other handicapped people at sporting event and everywhere else . Your message is so uplifting that i cried , and was mowning '' keep fithing '' .
Love the video. I am laying in the bed at a rehab hospital. Just crashed my paramotor. I was told I am a complete injury. Thanks for the upbeat video, I really needed it. Keep the positive videos coming. Thanks
jesse martin last year about this same time I was layed up in rehab too. T10 complete, but I have had good gains over the past year. Hang in there, it does get easier over time and less painful.
I can’t wait to participate in this next year! May 3, 2020 here I come 🏃🏼♀️. Such a fantastic event. Thanks team Wheels2walking for this sweet video. Damn Daniel ! 🤣🥰
Hi if u see this u r an inspiration for me I am in a weelchair I hope not permanently but I have muscle wasting my leg when tearing a ligament and it's been a year and a half sense and it is hard like people who dont respect you and bully you for your differences cus I can "walk" but can't at the same time and they don't understand that so the make fun of it instead I have recently co.e across u and I thank you for giving me some light and hope x keep going
Advice...the work to be done is yours and yours alone. Move forward one movement at a time and before you know it you are making new goals. The work is hard and will possibly be the hardest thing you can remember doing. The pay off at the end though....its like nothing you have ever felt before. The cool thing is you get to feel that feeling every goal you achieve.
Overcoming diversity by getting out and exploring is empowering. Above knee amputee has taken me down a path of obstacles like addiction, depression, lack of self worth. Live life like no problems only solutions to overcome anything. Thanks for the positive vibes and outlook brother!
I just found your channel and I wish I did sooner! I was in a wheelchair for about 7 months and that’s honestly not even that long because after that I was able to start using a walker and regain strength in my legs but I remember just feeling like I was so worthless and that I couldn’t do anything because I couldn’t use my legs or even speak to people normally because I was at the same level as the. But it’s so cool to see you being able to travel and educate people on people with chairs
As a new wheelchair user, injury aside, my hands and arms (But more so my hands) HURT so flippin' bad! I'm using gloves and trying not to overdo it, but is there anything I can do to lessen the additional ow brought on by using my arms as my legs now, so to speak. I'm pushing correctly according to even your videos, so I guess it's just it being new? On the subject of getting your walk back, the damage to my spine is due to genetics and is degenerative, so I'm much more focused on getting my LIFE back, and since I've been in the wheelchair, life has gotten better, even in this short of a time. Or at least, my attitude about it has gotten better, as has the constant pain. So I'm with the guy who said to get your LIFE back instead of only focusing on walking again, that meant a lot to me personally, so thank you! :)
I live in West Palm Beach just a little bit north! I mostly walk these past 2 years (after 5 mostly seated) but managed to break both feet in last few weeks thanks to osteoporosis so I am back in my TiLite for a bit. Funny how quickly it all comes back...also Woody foundation is great! I don’t know him personally but I think what he’s doing is awesome. And I am kind of shocked that you guys are all in regular chairs for the race, not special race chairs! Yeah your shoulders must be killing you!
Thank you for doing these videos even though I’m not completely in a while chair they give me much to think about I have several palsy so sometimes I’m on my crutches almost all the time but I do use my will chair for long distances so thank you for doing these kind of videos
I did a charity run for cancer with my cousins but someone told me “u can’t do it coz ur in a wheelchair” and I cried for hours Hope ur arms don’t get hurt
Hey man thats great! Good to see you out helping ans supporting a good charity. How long was the race? In miles if possible. I cant believe you did all that in yout Ti-Lite chair. Thats awesome and my shoulders feel your pain bro. That had to kick your ass the next two days! Glad to see new content and the channel growing as always. Thanks man!!

i don't have a spinal cord injury but i use i wheelchair r walker cause i have seizures and the one seizure i had i had about 3 with in 2 hours and since then my right leg shacks alot and if i don't use the wheelchair r walker i will fall i also have a picc line and feeding tube cause i have alot of gi issues were i can't eat i can't live by myself cause of the seizures and my dr said i can't cause if i would status epilepticus again and no one was there a could be worse off then nowthank u for your videos they have inspired me a lot
I don't know if I posted a comment here earlier but I have a question, what kind brand of gloves were you using in the race? cause its very hard to find good gloves with the right kind of grip.
I'm not disabled but I cant walk long distances because my knee hurts horribly bad. Should I think about getting a wheelchair for when I go long distances? Any feedback is great.
I hade three operations in my leg and the last one was two years ago and I still have very much pain every day and it hurts really much the more I walk, but I have always danced my hole life so I me and my family have a hard time accepting how it is. I don’t know want to do

I have noticed that most of the wheel chair users, can use their wheel chair because they can use their arms. My problem is that, with my fshd 2 , my arm are as weak as my legs. I can move myself in my wheel chair a few feet them I am exhausted. Fshd makes your muscles go to mush. I can barely lift a soup mug, I find it very heavy. Is there anything affordable to help me get around. Live in Canada and on a fixed income.
Time to start training for next year's Boilermaker in Utica, NY. The challenge awards up to one person competing in the 15k race wheelchair division under a certain time a racing wheelchair. It is HOT and muggy in July. www.boilermaker.com/events/wheelchair.php

I've been in a chair for 24 years and I wish something like this existed back then. Keep making these videos!!!!
Rob Peri I agree. I wish I saw this 20 years ago when I was first injured.
Its amazing how you get out and do stuff like races and don’t let it stop you
At one point in my life it did. I used my wheelchair as an excuse to not do anything. I was miserable. Now I use it every chance I get because I know what it feels like to let it stop me. I won’t ever let that happen again.
Love the camera angles ♿ I will be training to do the London marathon next year in my wheelchair ❤️
42 years in the chair, love your videos keep being the example that you are

I respect ✊ you and the disabled and they can do as much as people that can walk it’s great what people can put their mind to

what kind brand of gloves were you using in the race? cause its very hard to find good gloves with the right kind of grip.
My tip is simple:
Learn to master the Spin
Hey can you please make a video about what is your accident and what happened.
Can u talk about the importance about a good diet
I'm not disabled but I cant walk long distances because my knee hurts horribly bad. Should I think about getting a wheelchair for when I go long distances? Any feedback is great.
Can you show us how long can you walking to give up?

Do u have urine control ??
