The MP4/4 is awesome in AMS 2 & a must to use H Shifter with a reasonable soundbar cranked up. How the car rides the kerbs is brilliant & you can flick it through chicanes.
Senna is my favorite driver too with Mansell 2nd.They had a Hardcore driving style that was amazing to watch as a kid. The onboard always looked like they were on the edge. Where as Prost was going just as fast but because his driving style was so smooth it looked like he was driving to the shops. But Prost was great driver too. For me 1993 was Senna's best year even though he didn't win the title. He won 5 races in a V8 car that was 50bhp down on the V10 Williams.
The reason the F1 car's of the early 90s had such understeer was because the tyres were atrocious to say the least... overheating like crazy in corners and stone cold at the end of a straight...

Great video Mike. I've noticed the off-throttle understeer tendency on these cars as well. Also when you apply even small amounts of throttle the rear axle will break away and lose grip. Compared to the formula 90s car in raceroom, you can let off the throttle mid corner and the front end will bite and you get oversteer rotation. Also small throttle inputs will send weight to the back and stabilize the rear axle. Seems backwards in Ams2...
The two n.a cars sound great but I do hope they update the turbo era car sounds. They sounded a lot more bass-ier with their onboards. They had a bit more of a deep growl to them.
Hi Mike, Happy New Year! Senna was my favorite racer f1 racer also. I was watching and recording the race when we lost him. I stopped watching auto racing for a few years after that day but eventually returned. I love the dlc and all of the great work that the team at Reiza has done this past year. Definitely my favorite sim!

I would bet instead in the Emerson Fitttipaldi's two F1 championships cars + Emerson's Indy car as he won a season there as well, and maybe something from other legends, for example Barrichello in F1, Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan in the Indy field, less possibly Raul Boesel at Group C (Silk Cut Jaguar) and so on.

I prefer the faster right/left at the end of the lap there at Montreal. I also kind of like that ultra-fast esse bit on the main "straight" before the final 2 turns. Current Estoril is quite a bit different from this layout. Old Turns 1-3, now Turns 1-4, are markedly different, Parabolica has been moved inward, and then with the other chicane added onto those, the track is really quite slow and stop-start. If you were to pick a slow period for Prototype Sportscars, 1977 would be right in there, and still, for this layout of Estoril, a lap of 1:37.730 (99.568 mph) was turned. On the present layout, the mark set by an LMP1 in 2011 is only a 1:30.118 (103.664 mph). On the pre-1994 layout, I'd expect a late-stage Group C or modern LMP1 car to be able to get down into the 1:17s by comparison, maybe even a bit quicker. I'm so glad they changed Priory through Luffield for the 1997 season. Glad there's also a historic Interlagos in AMS2. It's interesting how much less attention Piquet seemingly gets next to Fittipaldi or Senna. I still have Fangio as my all-time best in F1. Could do what no one else was able to, and in an era when margin for error was...well...not very much, to say the least. His winning percentage is also practically untouchable. It also doesn't hurt that, in terms of classic aesthetics, it's really hard to beat the Maserati 250F, Lancia D50, or Mercedes-Benz W196 Streamliner.

You could experiment with auto clutch, but you’ll still need to blip when downshifting. They’re best appreciated with a clutch, but I’m sure you could develop a workaround
1) phenomenal. Best FFB of any of my wheels 2) Molson Indy Vancouver 1990. My dad took me to see the race, and it changed me forever. The turbo V8s echoing off the buildings is forever etched into my memories

@@gru0058 I use a modded sound file for AC which gives a better sound of tires reaching its limits. It sounds more chirpy. AMS2 sounds like someone using a squeegee mop or like someone who is trying to clear their blocked nose !! I think arcade style racing games put out better sounds for squeeling tires.
I think the physics is bad because the car have tooooo much tire slip and you drive and drift at the same time it’s pretty bad because the sim have a lot of potential what do you think ?

The BT52 is the best F1 car ever simulated. And the MP4/5b sounds incredible. This entire pack represents the current pinnacle of sim racing imho.
These old few F1 cars are so much more fun than the modern variants.

Way up you can lift and slam. On the way down you heel and toe it.
