Zane, I know this is pedantic, but you don't need to put your phone face down on an NFC reader. It doesn't need to scan the screen. The NFC antenna is at the top of the phone. Just hold the top of your phone against the scanner when you use the metro. Lol
Out of all the places you've been to so far in this Japan series, Nara is my fave. 🎉 Its less crowded, the deer, the food, the atmosphere, the vibe, the temple makes it a lot more interesting...
Pro Tip: What would make you stand out as a travel vlogger is going to new places that other people haven't documented! I highly recommend checking out Shiga, Gifu, Yamanashi. Anywhere outside of the Tokyo/Osaka energy. There's already so much content on common touristy places that on your next trip I reccomend diverting from the norm. You might learn something new!
so true. these places are saturated with tourists who all make the same vlogs. it would be great if he did some less touristy villages, maybe a remote onsen. But I think zane overall is more oriented to urban city destinations, he likes modern design, architecture and large urban centers so maybe remote nature or small villages are less his thing.
Yeah all we've seen so far is just the usual kyoto, osaka and tokyo stuff, in all of his trips. It's just over done and saturated to the point of being boring.
The original huge Buddha and the surrounding temples were erected 1,300 years ago. Buddhism and its related culture (architecture, arts, philosophy, government system, city planning, etc.) was actively imported from China and embraced by the then imperial government, which became integral part of the medieval Japanese culture.
Nara is a lovely travel destination! If you have the chance, definitely visit Kagawa’s Konpira-san and enjoy the udon. The train ride from Honshu to Shikoku offers beautiful scenery. If you’re fit, biking is also recommended!
When i was there in 2020 the deer where not so gentle. i think they where grumpy because they didnt got enough food because there was not a lot of tourist.
I like your videos Zane and I know you've got to "work" the youtube algorithm to get views, but please consider stopping using clickbaity titles like "i was shocked", "I was not expecting this" etc. It reduces your credibility as a serious travel vlogger. Videos with titles just explaining what you are doing would be so much better. Keep up the good work. thanks
Yes, it seems to be something a lot of travel vloggers are doing at the moment, particularly those who are visiting China. There's really no need for it, especially when they go on to show something that's not in the least bit shocking. For me, it cheapens the experience.
Hear you & agree, but as a (small, but active) content creator, title and thumbnail metas are a thing. VERY much a 'don't hate the player, hate the game' thing. My least-viewed videos (~1-2k views) have literal, descriptive titles: "First Month Monetized on TH-cam: Earnings and 5 Learnings" and "UNCUT Pokemon Buyer POV: $700 Torchic Gold Star Deal" and "$13,000+ Pokemon Card Collection Tour" ...and my most-viewed (~8-30k views) have titles like "REALITY OF [...]" "VENDOR GOT SOLD FAKE [...]" "LITERALLY RAN OUT OF CASH [...]" "SPENT TOO MUCH [...]" They're not causal of course, but correlated. I think for Zane, already having a decent sized following, he could experiment with dropping it. But the algorithm is just a reflection of user behavior: creators are incentivized to keep doing annoying titles and/or thumbnails because people keep clicking them, and in a vicious cycle, youtube pushes what people click (and stick around for). The result is that TRUE clickbait (being misleading) rarely works cause people abandon videos that set a BS expectation.. but "I visit Nara Japan" usually won't perform as well as "I was NOT expecting THIS!!?"
Kobe is pronounced Ko-bay and I'm pretty sure your shirt says I love Tokyo. Some people are head-butted by deer for food, they can get pushy. When you go to the water in a temple you wash hands first then put water in mouth but don't swallow, spit it on the ground. The writing in temples are from when they only used Chinese writing, my Japanese husband can't understand it. Also Kyoto was the capital not Nara.
wrong. Kobe is not pronounced 'ko-bay' as the japanese alphabet does not work like that. Every 'be' in every japanese word sounds the same. I thought your 'japanese husband' would have corrected you on this...

I wouldn’t have published the video if Bambi didn’t love the cringe jokes. Teasing is a love language of ours, guys. Haha 😂
❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘

I’ve been thinking the same haha

Japan does an amazing job of adding tactile paving all over its cities!

I hope for your sake that Bambi wasn't getting as annoyed by the deer jokes as I was!
Love your videos with Bambi. So… you’re already meeting her family, huh? (the deer) 😂🤣😂
Wow, the deer shake their tails too!
Pretty adorable. Keep up the best work.

I had an amazing day in Nara! You’ve seen things I did not see and vice-versa, it truly deserves an entire day !
Just what I needed to start my weekend off
This is your most beautiful video. And Bambi is a dear.
FYI: Although not technically wrong, the plural form of deer is deer, not deers. 🦌🦌😊

Zane please go to Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios. I want to see you riding in a Yoshi.
Japan is so beautiful 😍😮
Nara Park is so huge that it's difficult to get around. Mt. Wakakusa and Kasuga Shrine are also good places.
you really dragged the bambi jokes 🥴 first one was expected, the rest were cringe
it was epic cringe. lets hope he reads the comments and apologizes to her.
Love your videos!
How about visiting Okinawa?
When i was there in 2020 the deer where not so gentle. i think they where grumpy because they didnt got enough food because there was not a lot of tourist.

Those jokes were a bit excessive.

Enough with the Bambi jokes 🙄

Agreed
Those ramen prices are inflated for foreigners...that kinda ****** me off!
bow head before feeding
You compare a person to a goat
Bambi jokes are kinda mean bro. My rule of thumb is don’t poke fun at people for something completely out of their control like their name.
Bambi isn’t her real name. It is mentioned when he met her at first time.

24:44 Please tell that ramen was not ¥3,800? 😫😠
奈良は710年から794年の間、日本の首都でした。
予備知識があれば、もっと楽しんでいただけたと思います。
また、鹿は奈良では神様の使いですので、食べません。😂

Nara was the capital just before Kyoto
