Great film, kind of doesn't get the attention I feel it deserves as a Scorcese movie because he's so well known for his 3 hour long gangster epic dramas, Taxi Driver was a really well researched and shot look into the mind of someone dealing with both mental illness and insomnia, one of my favorites of all time, and between it and another Scorcese film King of Comedy was a huge influence on the recent great Joker movie that traded heavily on the look and feel of those films and the 70s gritty NYC feel. If you haven't seen Taxi Driver, go out and see it, it's literally a little piece of history, inspired Hinckley to attempt to assassinate the than sitting president because of the plot of the film and the fact that it starred his crush he was trying to impress, Jodi Foster (this was well before she came out as a lesbian, Taxi Driver came out in the 70s). Incidentally, Taxi Driver had a great noir musical score which was the last written by a musical great for Hollywood films, but his name escapes me, finished the music for the movie a few days before his death. Check it out!
