Something you missed is the event moogle with the red chest next to it with all the old Adventurer Appreciation loot. Should be one in each starting city. I believe it's 60+ items total including furniture, costumes, weapons, and ciphers: one of which is Kupofried, who boosts exp gain by 20%. Wiki says that 20% will not just be additive, but stack multiplicatively with rings/rhapsodies in white/corsairs roll from Qultada trust. So very worth getting for a new player.
Good guide, only thing missing would be mentioning the item Goblin Stew 880, purchasable from Mog Garden for 100k that can be used as a substitute for the 4 required items when expanding gobbiebag inventory at any step. While not always cheaper than the requested items and only available during months with Mog Garden campaign active, it can be a life saver on the more expensive steps or if the AH isn't stocked on smaller servers.

I played back in 2003 during Zilart. Recently I have had the urge to return 20 years after the fact to see how much of the game I remember is there. I stopped playing when I hit the lvl 70 limit break. I didn't have friends or a link shell to run with, just a WHM/SMN getting drug from group to group trying to make sense of where to go or what to do. Guides and information was so much harder to come by then, and it felt like stumbling around in the dark sometimes. I have no idea what my PlayOnline ID is, and I doubt my account is still around to recover. The biggest shock to me in this video is that you can actually solo with the trust past lvl 10.

@@apatheticaj4915 yeah, I still got the beta kit hiding in a box somewhere, got both ffxi and planet side beta kits at the same time. But the GM's actively interacted with players. Ex: force spawning notorious monsters outside bastok entrance as an event while taking requests 🤣
Being "ps2" minded, playing from the 2004-2007 75 era, I also attempted to start a new character farming the Subjob items the old-fashioned way. As I was about to farm the Ghoul item I looked up the benefits of RoV missions. In hindsight, farming 3x Bee Pollen for a Gilgamesh voucher is far more time efficient than farming 3 types of monsters with varying drop rates, plus it gets you started on the many benefits of RoV missions. Ah well, still a great guide. Did not know about the Mog Wardrobe and other types of Mog storage being accessible in the field.
You do get a copper voucher if you've done the subjob quest the old way before you do the RoV mission which would give you the subjob. That's pretty good as those are very useful when starting out and the subjob quest is trivial with trusts(go to Gusgen Mines for the skull)
There is one important detail regarding Mog Wardrobes 3-8 that SE overlooked and/or never addressed but still in big hindsight, that during "Return Home To Vana'diel" campaigns if you're returning for logging in for free in that period, you will not be able to use or move equipment out of the premium mog wardrobes if they were in there as the Wardrobes 3-8 are inactive if you haven't moved them out before your account became inactive at the time. And you also can't do any changes into your SE account during that free login period or that will void your free login.
On the FFXI wiki (BG WIKI) items you can transfer to your mules are also marked as 'Not sendable'. Not all RARE/EX items can be sent to the mule and the game doesn't do a good job of telling you until you go to send the item to a mule. Usually mission armor rewards are not (think Tamas Rings) the annoying thing is more recent missions give you lockstyle cosmetic only armor that is Not sendable and also can't be stored in a slip so it just sits there taking space.

i mean, you just need to do one thing, and your set. that one thing is. Dont play retail. thats it, now your good to go, just select the private server that suits you best, and enjoy.
A decent starting guide but new players need to know MUCH more so they can make informative decisions right away and not find out later they picked the wrong classes to work on. Personally retail is just bad way too slow and cumbersome .Private servers can typically offer a better QOL albeit you will miss out on a lot of what retail offers but you will still get the main idea of the game on private servers. The most populated private server baffles me because the game was never perfect and private servers have a chance to improve the original design flaws. So fo example currency drop rate should be like 200% higher RENKAI should be much better to encourage people to use it and Magic bursts should also be much better. There is however MANY more things that should have been done better so playing on a pure vanilla type old school server baffles me it isn't FUN and that should the main objective >>to have some fun.
Ok, great comment! I am not one that claims retail is better than a p server, play whatever makes you happy is my take on the matter. ^^ Horizon is definitely cool af. So is CatsEye and Eden. I just happen to be playing retail.
Depends on what you want. If you want to struggle and truly relive that age, then yeah. But if you want to be all powerful and do things you wished to do but never could, retail is great
If you want to struggle and depend on others to get stuff done then sure bud go for it 😅. I tried Horizon but I enjoyed retail much more after returning back in August.

Catseye Private server is the place to be. Easy DL lots of support and 75 cap with lots of options on play styles. 500+ population. Also FREE lol.
CEXI is outstanding!
I enjoyed my time on CatsEye, have about 80 hours of Let's Plays on my channel. Fun Server!
how do i play this?
i mean, you just need to do one thing, and your set.
that one thing is.
Dont play retail.
thats it, now your good to go, just select the private server that suits you best, and enjoy.
Ewww
Are you gonna
Pause between
Every two or three
Words?
Yup
HorizonXI; great 75era locked server
*Horizon (75 cap) > Retail*
.
Love Horizon also
@apatheticaj4915 idk how you guys play in severs w 30 ppl. The ah must be 3/4 empty.
Also using trusts, may as well have a doll irl too for companionship.
