I’m from the states and the reason why he’s so popular because his music sounds western, modernized, and with the times. He listens to a lot of western rap which is why his music sounds the way it does. He’s pushing the boundaries and way ahead of most Filipino rappers. He raps to the cadence of the beat and goes with the melody unlike other Filipino rappers who just write lyrics to sound lyrical. Hev Abi the best rapper in my opinion coming from California.

there is really a misconception in between sampling and interpolation. nowadays, there are no original things to think about, due to the attention span of us, individuals. but some aspiring ones are taking inspiration from the old heads, which is a good thing because paying homage is a natural instinct. in this time where everything can be mainstream, all we had to do is just accept the fact that we are just jumping to a new trend/fad because art in general just keeps evolving.

Taylor Swift does this to herself all the time. Most recent sa 70% ng songs sa Tortured Poets Department. Beyonce did this to her entire Renaissance album, and brought forth the highest-grossing world tour of 2023. Lana Del Rey did this to her song 'Doin' Time' from the NFR album. I believe as long as credits are given to where it's due, okay lang. After all, we should not miss the main point of why we create and listen to music - to create our own culture, to learn from the past, to celebrate the wins, and to create a better community with human beings striving to be better everyday wherein most of us, are only living to survive. Music should create a safe space for all of us.

Hip hop music was literally born out of sampling and interpolation in the 80s. Nandyan na yan ever since.
Sampling usage is justified by creativity. It deviates from the original source naturally with its own flavor..
💯💯
not just sampling, bro's good with interpolation too(babaero by Randy Santiago, Sorry girl by Jnskie, Say My Name by Destiny's Child, etc.)
