I was born 1964. My parents were very young. We didn't have any furniture in our living room but an old easy chair from my mom's mother and an old rocking chair from my Dad's mother. There was also a record player and a tiny black and white TV. One of my earliest memories is dancing the Twist with my parents to an appearance on some rock show.

So they would always be trying them out at home with me watching. Result- I was one of the only guys in high school who knew how to dance…at least a little. I was very popular on the dance floor. Second one of those moments where you are when something tragic happens like, Kennedy, Princess Diana, and 9/11. By the age of three I was hanging around with my mother's friend Doris who loved to watch over me when mom needed a break ! Spinning and dancing to the hits of the day , such a joyous outlet and the music was positively awesome !!! Being a boy with dreams of being a "legit go-go dancer" wasn't easy to achieve back then , however. But my spirit was never broken , even though my mother later had regrets that she didn't encourage me to go with sis to dance class. I have such rich memories of dancing on our old porch with all the kids spinning cool 45's on the portable record player . "Cry like a Baby , The Horse , Pony Time , You Can't Sit Down" , and of course "Bobby Freeman's" phenomenal "the Swim" featured here !!! Greatest time to be young ! I was born in 59 and I wanted to be a go-go dancer too. Wore little white boots until I moved up to taller ones. I hope you dance freely now too

My oldest brother was in high school and I was elementary school during the mid 60's. If the high school was holding a dance on a Saturday night, he'd take me because he knew I liked the music. After a few times, some of the high school girls would ask me if I wanted to dance. I was shy at first, but eventually one of the girls, Rhonda was her name, was able to persuade me. Even after all these years I still remember the names and faces of those girls. How I wish was old as my brother at that time. Ah the memories!

Love the dances of this period. I wish Tina Turner doing the pony with the Ikettes were included in that section.

I danced on stage with Chubby Checker, to the Twist of course. I had attended one of his concerts in 1998.

Watusi Luci forever! As a kid and all these years later, I love the clips of her dancing. Of all the presidential kids, Luci Johnson will always lead the pack.
