Wow. She did a wonderful job! 😊 Very nice and solid table. I think he will be there for the next 10 years. The Videomaker did also a good job. 20 minutes feels like 1,5 minutes. Thank you 😊👍🏻
Put somothing soft like strip of thin foam between the granit and wood. Less risk of splitting the garnit due to an uneven resting surface from building the table or moving wood
Definitely!!! By putting a stronger material, like 3 to 7mm rubber or plastic padding where the granite connects with wood would be best and longer lasting than soft material like foam due to exposure to weather, etc. 😁
@@jobson88 If they want to be able to move it, it's best not to glue it down, so it can be moved in 2 parts. And the weight of a stone slab would be enough to keep it in place. Unless there is an earthquake, etc. :))))
👍👌👏 I instantly thought the same. Best material would be strips of rubber. But you can also use any kind of silicone or Sikaflex instead, as long as you let it dry/cure completely before putting the granite table top on. Simply because of the fact that the table top shouldn't be glued on. The wood will always shrink or swell a little bit (due to humidity). Best regards luck and health.
Good mix of explanation, fast forward, zoom in, and especially the behind the scenes of the camera install =p tagging who folks are, the little question mark. Really has a unifying feel. The mix of exploring, explaining, hard work, and humour I've come to think of as this channels signature style Thank you!
Great video, I like seeing someone using craft skills, designing, manufacturing and assembling. Where there was an idea and some spare timber there now is a usefull item of furniture. Great idea with the oak ink, fantastic finish.
What an inspirational channel. So nice to see people out making their own life in a more meaningful and sustainable way, while bringing back a sympathetic partnership with the land. Awesome work people.
I love Emma, she has quickly become my favourite! Not only is she is bringing some much needed expertise and technical skills to some of your creations, but seeing a woman so highly skilled in a male dominated industry (here in NZ anyway) is fantastic.
The natural paint in contrast to the wood was looking very good. I really like to watch all of you coming together to eat and talk about the day and next project. I would very much like to visit one day
Thanks for mostly cutting out the noise when sawing wood. It's a small and seemingly insignificant detail, but I always cringe a little when I'm chilling, watching a video and all of a sudden NYEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOWWWW at 5000 decibels. Makes for a much more pleasant viewing experience. So, thank you, editor!
Wow! Now that's what I call a table. Well done, Emma. Super job, great teamwork, as usual. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work. 😉👍✌
Not sure if you got some wood protection on the bottom of the legs? Will be the point that comes into contact with the mud and potentially water, so maybe put some stain in a pot, then rest the leg in there for an hour or so to really let it absorb. But you probably did. Great looking table!
The hand gliding over the surface of the table at the end was perfection! I was thinking.. that's polished very smooth.. I wonder how smooth? Ohh.. /that/ smooth!
@@samuelprescott7426 slightly different...I was mowing my pasture on my riding mower (without safety glasses)when a speck of seed landed in my eye. That caused great deal of pain to eye and $200 for eye doctor to remove.
Wow! Nicely done. I hope everyone seeing the Project Kamp videos gets inspired to put some of their energy into creating a more sustainable future. It's all possible when the vision is inspiring and everyone is willing to pitch in to make it happen. And a big shout out to their Patreon supporters for helping to finance all the cool projects at Project Kamp. Nothing much can get done if the money doesn't show up at some point. Glad some people are putting some of their money where their values are...
We kept finding we needed a folding table. This is so easy to store. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxStL0QRChBju4aQlnTrRgBZvafFog0KU3 Opening and closing is easy as well. It has a great handle for carrying around the house. Its pretty lightweight and slides around easy. We bought it for our daughter’s first sleepover. Breakfast was a blur - but 12 7-8 year olds fit at the table with room to spare. We used it at thanksgiving and 6 adults fit comfortably on each side plus 2 on either end for a total of 8. Super easy to clean up afterwards as well.
Woodworking machining, building and general fabrication are very popular TH-cam content topics. There's a ton of additional views to be earned by adding it regularly as its own separate show content. It's one area where videos can be longer and more detailed without boring the audience.
That iron tannate is great stuff; you can also do a two-stage application of ebonizing, by first applying the tannic acid solution (boiled oak galls, or even extracts of the waste stream from coffee or tea), letting it dry, then applying iron acetate (either made by soaking ferrous metal waste in vinegar or using vinegar to clean the rust off of iron/steel items), or applying in reverse order.
I started a new job recently in facilities maintenance. I'm inspired by this show and others like it. There is nothing like having a huge project to do and having a team backing you. I hope that my travels take me to a place like this someday
My joints glue people to the couch ;) Loving the granite. With the granite I have at home it is able to stick a magnet to the surface, interesting stone..
WowWowWow girls, what a craftswomenship! Very inspiring, again! And the finishing touch with the gall nut infusion, great! Thanks again, also for the nice editing!
Something that could be done for preventing the wood from totting is to burn the end wood with a blowtorch (especially the underside of the legs) the burned surface will deflect water and provide a protection against worms and insects.
For sure!!! It's becoming standard practice to flame treat outdoor, or weather exposed wooden furniture, etc. or structures. But making your own stain is cheaper than using all that propane !!! :D
And as a bonus (sidenote) energetically speaking it’s always best to keep things compartmentalized like that 💕🙌🏽 you don’t wanna eat where you sleep and you don’t wanna sleep where you work etc. good job guys

As always about 60% of the comments are telling you how you could have done better - ignore them, you guys are great, and will deal with problems as and when they crop up. Keep it up
awesome table! I will use this design when I redo my work bench. That is more solid than mine is. Funny to see I am not the only one that has wood that has warped really bad from drying too fast. LOL
Really nice build! Love how it turned out! Just one quick comment on Japanese saws, they are only made for a pulling motion towards the body. The thin sawblade is awesome for precise cuts but will bend and eventually break if you push it. Just don't put any pressure on that forward movement and those saws will last a lifetime👍
Awesome guys! I wish one day come to see your place by myself 😭❤ Your camp is very insparing, can*t thinking about to earn some money and buy a land one day...
I love absolutely love Project Kamp and think what you all are doing is awesome, especially documenting and sharing what you are doing so openly! I just ask that you pls think deeply about your general approach to PPE (personal protective equipment). Individual people may not want or think they need to wear safety goggles, hearing protection, etc. but consider that the hundreds of thousands of people watching your videos are potentially learning and *looking up* to you for guidance and inspiration. Even if you don't feel you need PPE (like when using the saw in this video), remember that you are setting an example for *hundreds of thousands* of viewers and that you are influencing their behavior. Please use your influential platform to reinforce the importance of personal safety when using machines- it could very likely save one of your viewers' lives one day!
This video was good! I really think you should make cuts between making the wooden frame and getting the granite though, to break up the long part of the woodmaking process. People's attention isn't great and youtube is all about engagement and watch time. I also think having more cuts to other stuff going on at the camp would be ideal. In the past week, surely a lot more happened. There's lots of people at the camp, what were the rest of the people doing? It would be awesome to see. People will watch every progress video if you do this. Showing how the story unfolds is what captivates. Especially when people see stuff that continues the next week. As for this, people are only seeing a small section of what's happening on the Kamp which isn't ideal for engagement. They're less likely to return for more. Edit: What you want is for people to find your channel, then watch through ALL your videos. They will only do this if you show a bunch of stuff happening, and progress and projects. Some big projects, some small. Some daily tasks, some tasks that take a long time. A mix of everything going on in each video is how you get people to watch all your videos.
Oh WOW This was just terrific. I felt like I was right there with you all. Such lovely people and a great video (although I would never say anything else for Dave and company!)
Beautiful table turned out great! Question tho what is stopping the granite piece from moving or is it just sitting on top n don't move cause it's heavy?
It seems you know lot of ways of adding more work to the projects:P - but as long as you enjoy it that's great! :> Besides of that the table looks very sturdy. I know it had to be big and heavy because of the granite top. I only think I wouldn't glue the elements just to leave possibilty to make changes in future. The screws should be enought to assure stability for such construction.
It cracks me up that you guys have all of these acres to tame…. And yet, your dedication to pizza is unwavering.

That DIY ink was quite neat. Reminds me of the old trick of mixing steel wool and vinegar for an antique finish.
