    You guys are all amazing. But, I do have to call-out Emma and her van. What a master craftsperson she is. So unique and thoughtful. I think what she has done with her van is just amazing. Really enjoying everything you all are doing.

      Just put the type of rat poison that dries up the pest without letting it smell, or you might soon have an infestation. Sorry, but mice ARE pests to humans and very annoying and dangerous for health

    I like that all the spaces have been individualised, yet have an overall harmonious feel. I hope that eventually everyone has somewhere solid to call their own (so that they're more secure during bad weather, safer when the inevitable fires happen, insulated for the different seasons, somewhere to retreat to when needed, etc), but still as a part of, and within the community. I'm loving watching the project evolve!

    This was terrific. So much creativity and really good ideas in the vans. I lived in a covered hammock one summer all over the USA in every park I could find. By the time I got home, I didn't want to sleep inside anymore! Great video! Good Job!

    I think you guys might be the least profit oriented channel out there. Every other TH-camr would have made a mini series with 5 videos out of this. Love it!

    Wow as an American, I’m in awe because we don’t have many diesel based old vans like that. We do have the Mercedes Sprinter here but you are looking at 80k+ for a AWD diesel option. This is why most folks in the states opt for a skoolie conversion or a Ford or Ram truck.

    Be careful with the mice, we too tried everything £40+ of organic essential oils, friendly mouse traps....took 45+ mice for a walk. Eventually one got into cam belt and when starting engine it got squashed and popped the pistons (not sure if that's correct description)and destroyed the engine.

    • @datagrl
      @datagrl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you can, leave the engine compartment open. Mice can be a problem where I live and many folks leave the engine compartment open. The mice like dark spaces, so light will discourage them from setting up a home.

    • @15IgorS
      @15IgorS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice idea! But be careful with rain and electricity. Another idea comes to my mind now (not sure if it will work) is to use an outdoor lamp on solar so it can burn every night at the engine. But don't forget to remove it when driving away.

    All of these vans are amazing and very unique! Some vans are almost cookie cutter like an RV but these custom builds have a lot of utility and ingenuity. All of the other videos I watch you all congregating in all kinds of weather, but knowing you have these makes sense AND you have a place to hide and get privacy. Best of all, if you all need to bug out, you have almost everything you need already in place, just start up and go (well except for the last one)!

    Hi, thank you for another amazing video! Btw I stopped using cotton swabs, because they can be used only one time, but there is an amazing product called lastswab (not sponsored or anything like that). It is a swab that can be used, washed, and used again! I can highly recommend to anybody who tries to lesser his eco footprint. I use it for 2 years without any nostalgia over the cotton swabs.

    A wide staircase/bleachers? could be cool so you have a auditorium/cinema space seating, wall support and a roof for ground level storage
    Vaguely remember in bushcraft pine needles stop ice fishing holes from freezing over ? At least tea/vitamin c
    You could make more secure/permanent robust tents with mimosas & bamboo spheres?! Minimise setup to a tarp/plastic sheet/Upcycled bags maybe even cork insulation layer/bedding

    Best thing against mice is a cat. We solved our problem in the vegetable garden and farm house with them - haven't seen a mouse inside the house for months now but we can still see them running in the forest and out of the living areas and the vegetable garden.

    Cool video, like the van life idea, would building van campsites not be beneficial, having a raised platform that's hard surface and clean that you can park next too maybe with a screen for privacy, a roof or a shade net structure on top to form a outside living space for people with vans that come and visit.

    I've always loved the idea of Van Life.
    But I am a large person. 202cm tall. I can't lay sideways across a van like this. So design would be crucial for me. Maybe a larger van? A cube van maybe?
    I do not think I could be comfortable in a Sprinter Van or anything smaller.
    I also want to be able to stand upright inside if I can.

    What does it take (mentally) to start living in a van? I'm so used to a house I wonder if I would ever get used to it or just cry myself to sleep because I don't have a bath. At 9.37.. ...what is that machine? When you find plastic that needs recycling what do you turn it into and how? I would really like to see that.

    About the mouse problem: I’ve been researching the subject because it’s fall and I regularly get mice in my house. I would really like NOT to have to use poison bait. Are you okay with the scent of peppermint? I’m told that mice HATE it. Apparently if you soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and place them where the mice get in/go, they will leave and not come back. An environmentally friendly inexpensive deterrent. I’ve never tried it but ….Worth a try, wouldn’t you say? Another deterrent is dryer sheets (which you need to change every month or so as they lose their fragrance).

    • @michellezevenaar
      @michellezevenaar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tried the peppermint balls and they just used them as nesting materials unfortunately. Best thing is to store food so they really can't get to it and to keep the place clean and food free. Chickens and cats are very good at killing mice. The smart mice will leave the area asap.

      I bought a battery operated device called the Rat Zapper from Amazon. It shocks the mice/rat making it ok to dispose of them in a cycle of life fashion. Many night critters will have a feast and you will be rodent free.
