  • This is my first time replacing this type of floor drain cover. A good learning experience. It's anti-odour, anti-insect and anti-small animals.
    Note to family:
    1. Because it traps water, this type of drain cover needs to be cleaned regularly. Maybe once a week.
    2. Hair seems to be able to enter it. So, a top cover with smaller holes is needed.
    3. Don't remove the pieces just to let water drain faster. Stuff will drain along with the water. We don't want that.
    Side note:
    I'm not a fully-trained professional (just partially-trained). So, this video is NOT instructional. Always understand your tools, work smart and work safe.
    Thanks for watching!

      @4.08 using a test pen to chisel the rough edges isn't a good idea though. I know sometimes we either don't have a proper chisel or are lazy to find the right tool; this often result in damage to that tool. In this case the metal tip of the test pen isn't hardened for the knocks. We handyman and oftentimes renovation worker are all guilty of this bad habit though. 😝

    Great job. What is the purpose of the middle piece which looks like a tray? How much does the trap cost?

    • @RandomProjectsatHome
      @RandomProjectsatHome  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. The middle piece is to hold water, which acts to block out smell and insects. The entire drain cover set costs about RM12.

    What is the part that you put before putting on the top lid? The one that goes in the cover. Is that like a drain trap?

    Is it possible to do this without the grinder? And if not, what disc cutter did you use? the normal or diamond one?

    • @RandomProjectsatHome
      @RandomProjectsatHome  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We can use a tile cutter, but anything that can cut tiles and cement is good. I prefer an angle grinder because it's easier to navigate, especially cutting a bit of the floor for the trap bowl. I used bosun diamond wheel.

    I have the same drainer. Is it normal that the water drains slowly with that kind of drainer? Because sometime when taking a shower, i have to remove the cover so the water will drain fast.

      Very normal for water to drain slowly, especially if the floor is more on than flat side.

    can i use drill for cutting

    • @RandomProjectsatHome
      @RandomProjectsatHome  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If the drill has an adapter for marble/tile cutting blade, then maybe. But I don't recommend that. Drills are a bit clumsy as a cutting tool, especially if you're not used to it.
