- In the lifespan of Joe Iconis's song "Broadway, Here I Come!, there are two distinct periods: pre-Smash and post-Smash. Before it became the linchpin number of the short-lived television show's second season, Iconis's tune was mostly viewed as the story of someone jumping off a building onto the street called Broadway. After Smash'', 90% of listeners started considering it an anthemic ballad about making it in the theater industry. Iconis, for his part, thinks it's a little bit of both, and is happy either way. Here, he tells us why.

You know something’s up when you listen to the song and don’t even realize that it’s also about making it on broadway.
The timing is so perfect! I just performed this song and will perform it again soon so this insight is really amazing!
I definitely wanna play it more straight and serious one day too, so far I went more down the "making it on Broadway" route because it worked better with the audience. Really cool, love Joe Iconis
When he sang this at the closing announcement of be more chill istg
Love your work Joe. This song has always struck a chord in me. I dream of becoming an actor and hopefully making it to broadway one day. I always thought this was so chillingly beautiful because of the double meaning behind the song. 💕💕💕
Jeremy's version is ICONIC
Omg I love this song I listened to this song every night and morning I wanna be on Broadway
My favourite is the George Salazar version.
I still prefer live Jeremy Jordan
Even with my strong love for George
For this song, I find it stronger

I love this!!!
aAAAA I love this song so much!
I sort of always knew about the suicide aspect of the song, but now he explains it more and I listen closely; I am thinking "Wow, how morbid." Definitely changed the image of the song for me. Help?
Anybody have the Krysta version pleeeeease ?

Wow. Oh. That Joe Iconis song is well written. It's genius. I had to find out who wrote it and why.🙂I love when the four cast members sing it together. The most.
Still wondering if they would ever consider making the musical in Smash into a Broadway show
Apparently it’s being worked on it might be a while tho, however bombshell at the moment is scheduled to hopefully be on broadway next season
