Someone at my school sang this for a talent show, and now I'm addicted.
Your school lets you sing suicidal songs in the talent show? Mine won't let you say that you hate yourself without sending you to the counselor's office
@@clumpofdirt1193 I'm sure that makes it so no one's ever killed themselves at your school. /S
First verse
I'm high above the city
I'm standing on the ledge
The view from here is pretty
And I step off the edge
Chorus
And now I'm fallin', baby
Through the sky, through the sky
I'm fallin', baby, through the sky
It's my callin'
Baby, don't you cry, don't you cry
I'm fallin' down through the sky
Toward the street that I'm from
Oh, Broadway, here I come
Broadway, here I come
Second Verse
The pressure it increases
The closer that I get
I could almost go to pieces
But I'm not quite there yet
See I've been bravin' crazy weather
Drownin' out my cries
I'll pull myself together
I'm focused on the prize
Chorus
I'm fallin', baby
Through the sky, through the sky
I'm fallin', baby, through the sky
It's my callin'
Baby, don't you cry, don't you cry
I'm fallin' down through the sky
Its a tune you can hum
Oh, Broadway, here I come
Hmm-mm-mm-mmm
Bridge
Will I remain the same, or will I change a little bit?
Will I feel broken or totally complete?
Will I retain my name when I'm the biggest, hugest hit?
Or will I blend in with the rest of the street?
Third Verse
The people all are pointing
I bet they'd never guess
That the saint that they're anointing
Is frightened of the mess
But even though I fear it
I'm playin' all my cards
Baby, you are gonna hear it
When I give them my regards
Chorus
I'm falling, baby
Through the sky, through the sky
I'm fallin', baby, through the sky
It's my calling
Baby, don't you cry, don't you cry
I'm fallin' down through the sky
And I refuse to go numb
Oh, Broadway, here I come
Broadway, here I come
Broadway, here I come
Broadway, Broadway, here I come
Here I come!
And the last thing I hear
As the impact grows near
Is it a scream or a cheer?
Well, never mind, I'll never find out
'Cause Broadway, I am here
christina zhou I didn’t realize the lyrics the first time I heard it... well then
those high notes " im playing all my cards, baby you are gonna hear it when I give them my regards"😍😍😍😍 the last high long note. chills
Such a tragically beautiful song by Joe Iconis, and sang so wonderfully by Jeremy Jordan.
Damn, Roman do be listening to some bangers
Being a huge fan of both Smash and Sanders Sides, I’m disappointed in myself that I don’t know what everyone is talking about? Can anyone explain?
@@HeatherChandlerBQ they are talking about the playlist that Thomas made for the characters and this was on romans playlist
@@valerier5538 when did that happen? I saw one animatic of this and I just thought that was what they were talking about
Jack Kelly spin-off.
Santa Fe, here I come..
Caitlin Hsu It's got a similar-ish ideal about wanting to get somewhere, but the song is more about his wanting to make it big and realizing that the quickest way to fame is jumping to his death. People are bound to notice him when he hits the ground. The song addresses the tragedy of the suicide of young artists, really.
Depending on how you spin it it could be about that. Depending on how you spin the dream like concept of Santa Fe for Jack it already is about it just the way it is.. Santa Fe is supposed to be some perfect place in his mind right? Some people think that dying can get you to such a place.
Jeremy Jordan is a god and that is not debatable
Becki Holmes For real. He has amazing control of his voice and is extremely versatile.
Becki Holmes I wrote this on the board in choir and so many people agreed
Jeremy Jordan is a definite God. Everytime I see him whether he plays a bad guy on Law & Order or Beauty with a voice of an Angel on Smash he is just a wonderful talented man who I love personally.
When you always thought this was a happy song about a guy who managed to follow his dreams, and then you really listen to the song one time and find out it's about suicide...
If anyone sees this and is thinking of taking themselves out.
You have purpose, there’s always light after darkness, the darkest nights have the brightest sunrises, just wait for it.
Its not tho. Its not even about a guy who followed his dreams and made it, its about a guy taking a risk (stepping off the ledge) and ends before we find out if he makes it or not. We don't know if he survived or not. It's about the struggle of actors, and other similar professions, that HAVE to "make it" in order to get enough work to be paid enough to justify continuing, or otherwise quitting their passion so they can survive BEFORE they crash.
I think it's two sides of a coin for an artist who takes the leap towards their dream. Will they see their art loved and appreciated in life or after death? Either way the person in the song feels like they'll finally hit Broadway with either action that is mentioned in the song.
Miss this show so much. NBC really threw them under the bus.
Speaking as someone who watched every single episode, it was a genuinely terrible show. I enjoyed it a great deal.
I thought this song was about making it big in theater. nope.,
*tfw this is on Roman's playlist and you start to Panic*
This is easily the best song from Smash. I've always seen it as being about Kyle more than anyone else, although it could apply to almost any of the characters in this show.
My man Joe Iconis wrote this! 👏👏👏
I heard George Salazar sing it for a benefit concert and didn't know if it was just the voice or what BUT NOW I KNOW THANK YOU!!!
What I really love about this song and basically about almost every song is how much of its meaning depends on personal interpretation. Depending on where you are in life you either hear a song about dreams or about suicide. And I think that both interpretations are correct. Even though author intended it to be one way it totally depends on you how you interpret the lyrics (as Jeremy once said with Losing My Mind)
To this day I find it hard to sing this song with the same emotion.
This is a deceptively hard song to sing.
Seriously try singing it with the same level of emotion and ups and downs.
You'll find difficulty.
I wish I could include this easily into my karaoke repituer but it so hard to get right that I can't!
I'm quite lucky that I've got a very similar range to Jeremy Jordan so this song is now my warmup song before performances.
to sing with the level of emotion he has, i always end up crying and can't keep going. I agree.
after finally figuring out that this song is abt suicide i have one question- ARE YOU OKA Y ROMAN-
Why couldn't his character on Smash have been as endearing as his amazing voice?
Totally agreed. I love Jeremy Jordan but it was so weird seeing him play the asshole character.
This song seriously saves my life. Its so awesome
I've listened to this song every night since I promised myself I'd become a Broadway actor. It's really motivational (even though, yeah, it's about suicide).
Glad I'm not the only one who caught that. Its still sadly beautiful and motivational.
Actually, its only about suicide when Amanda sings it. When Jeremy sings it, the "falling down to Broadway" metaphor is about falling into success. (+Flannery McGreevy Don't worry, Amanda is saved by Jeremy and then gets a huge success on Broadway :D)
Lies. Joe Iconis who wrote this song said this is about suicide definitively.
Owen H same. I've promised myself to become a broadway actress, so I've listened to this song every night.
This should have been the song that received the Emmy nomination.
This song and his voice is amazing.
My best friend jumped from her lounge window to hear death this song is so cathartic and sadness enduring for me
When he says "and the last thing I hear," he sounds so much like Norbert Leo Butz's Jamie Wellerstein.
Yeah he does! My schools doing big fish and I've heard so much Norbert Leo butz lately haha
This song is about suicide.
And it’s on Roman’s playlist.
I G H T-
This is not about suicide why are people so convinced about this.
Its about taking a risk that ends either with you making it, or not. There is no inbetween. This is from a show about actors trying to make a living on Broadway, hence "Broadway, Here I Come".
Ugh and i thought the george salazar version was enough to make me cry
i'm literally sobbing jeremy is so beautiful
2022 anyone? I’ve got the DVDs and I watch the entire 2 seasons on rainy days or when I’m feeling blue. I wish this show wasn’t cancelled :(
Literally melted when I first heard this.
I was so sad when I realized what this was about, but I still love it
@@STICKMASTER178 sort of I mean in the show Jimmy wrote a musical with Kyle and it's called Hitlist this is one of songs in the fake musical 🖤
This is going on my audition song list (even though its sang by a guy and I'm a girl)

Who else fell in love with Jeremy Jordan after watching Smash and is now a Hazbin Hotel Fan so happy he voiced Lucifer? (I cannot be the only one!!!)
it took months for me to figure out what this was actually about... somehow it's even more gorgeous when it's also incredibly depressing
Jeremy Jordan is my Jesus
I go to a preforming arts school and we have a show decated to broadway and I've been into broadway since I was pulled out of my mom's stomach! It has been a dream of mine to go to New York as the 15 year old I am now! And I am trying out for a ward wining show choir at my school and their going to New York and...... hopefully I'll get in! This is the perfect song to sing for the performance and also a great opening for the Broadway Show at my school!
the lyrics, the notes, its all beautiful
Roman isn’t okay
its impossible to focus on homework when this song is on
I think I broke the replay button
no it's from a tv show called smash witch was canceled in may but the show is about broadway and it's rumored that the musical this was from on the show called hitlist is moving to actual broadway :) the end of this year
Loveeeee him , my favorite song from smash forsure 💙💙💙
Once you think about it this song is about suicide, and Jeremy Jordan translates that perfectly.
The note near the end on here I coooome is a b flat
I hit it once or twice! As a bass guy, I actually hit it. I didn't say it sounded good, just that I did it
Cube the Squid . I can hit it too (I’m typically a more comfortable bottom bass) and it sounded less than good lol
i
this is such a great song and you have such an amazing voice! everything about this song is amazing! every day me and my theatre friends sing this song.
This song is really something special.
I really blove this song somuch and i miss smash aswell. i also love the song when they are at the tonys and ivy and caren sing togetherx love it soooo much
Everyone saying Jeremy Jordan is a god.
Well, if you like his godlike voice, then you should listen to the Death Note musical, where he plays a character with a god complex.
I don't know if I like this or George's cover better, they're both outstanding!!!
Saw JJ in Chicago last night ... and he opened his set with this song. And I can't stop playing/singing it. WOW.
ROMAN HONEY, ARE YOU ALRIGHT????
This is my favorite song right now!
AAAGGGHH that note😍😍👏👏
im singing this in choir but they changed the lyrcics so it doesnt sound suicidal and its like about a person going to be famous
HAHAHA
I miss this show so much. I love Jeremy Jordan ❤️💚
This is just incredible
I'm here bc of sanders sides.
This is the song that made my wach SMASH.
I streamed it off Amazon prime about a year or so ago. It is still on but no longer free:(
Omg I love this song and I love Jeremy Jordan so much he is amazing he is truly a god omg this is long but I listened to this song every night and morning I wanna be on Broadway but yay Jeremy Jordan is amazing and a inspiration to me 🖤
I love just how desperate this song sounds, whatever its meaning (methaphoric, suicide, sarcastic...)
Jeremy Jordan is perfect
Really embarrassed for not realizing this song is about jumping off a building right away.
I actually had a solo in this song.
This song's so relatable, it's scary.
im here because of george salazar and joe iconic
I just love this song
This song is so beautiful
I’M OBSESSED WITH THIS SONG!!
God, this song.....just.....wow.
lovely song
i can mime this song very well including all the bombshell songs
What a great song love it! :)
this is amazing (y) just hear it yesterday
2021 & I'm still obsessed
God this man can belt
This was done on my birthday lmao
a sweet little ditty
I LOVE IT❤️
What a bop
Awesomazing!!
A few weeks ago I allowed my insta followers to vote who was the best singer in the Supergirl cast. And I’m still pissed at my followers that Jeremy didn’t win. Seriously?! Melissa won and she’s good but she’s not Jeremy Jordan. He’s too incredible for this world!!
To those coming after watching hazbin
He’s Lucifer
I was 1st introduced to Jeremy Jordan from Smash when I was in middle school and as a Hazbin Hotel Fan when it was first announced to be on Amazon Prime with Jeremy Jordan as Lucifer I WAS SO FREAKING EXCITED
i love is song ❤
This is for Henry to find 😂😂
this is a good song
Oh Broadway here I comeeeeee!!!!!!
Jeremy Jordan is my spirit animal
The song is so great and tragic/depressing at the same time.
Not suicide. Listen to the last words. I am here.
Are sure about that. In the song many times it mentions a way to death "falling through the sky" "hit the ground" "high above the city" and "the last thing I hear AS THE IMPACT GROWS NEAR"
Kyle💕💕💕
Change the lyric from "broadway" to "heaven" and it's suddenly a very morbid song. 8I
it's already about suicide, referring to broadway as the literal road he's going to land on after jumping from a building
this or moving the line i cant deeeeeeeeeciiideeee
Holy crap
It's not even subtle
Neither is "Over The Rainbow" and yet it's still a classic. And frankly it's nowhere near the standard of this song.
now if George Salazar and Jeremy Jordan sang TOGETHER.. that would make everyone's life complete
GENIUS
