I am hooked! I'm here because of "The Chateau Diaries" and I'm glad you decided to start a vlog Michael! I look forward to all of your wonderful content and all of the restoration glory that is going to happen at this wonderful place. My favorite part of the whole Chateau is the servant's staircase...I find so many similarities to Downton Abbey.

This seems like a dream and a nightmare all in one 😂 definitely a labor of love project. You all are so lucky to live in such a historical and beautiful home!
Michael is absolutely charming. He is the future of entertainment, following an interesting person through their life Michael is obviously multi talented , but his star power is his unbelievable charm . He seems humble and extremely witty at the the same time. You want to stay and work with Michael all day , almost like playing with your best friend from chidhood romping through the fields and woods , playing elvish tricks and living in an imaginary world of wonder.
When you showed the "lowest paid servants' bedrooms" without the fire places and sinks, I thought "finally a room I can relate to! Normal 21st century bedroom size haha". Loved this tour!
I'm glad you mentioned it. I don't believe those were bedrooms. They must have been storage rooms for linens, and all kinds of extra furniture, doodads, seasonal items like Christmas decorations or lawn chairs etc. The castle is not that big for an army of servants to be living there. If there were five or six servants that would be tops.
Great tour. I feel like going to visit your chateau. I have restored a small chateau in Canada and 22 years later we are still working at it. I can’t imagine the amount of work you have done already. Congratulations!
Have you considered using the servants quarters as paint studios as an artist’s retreat? The light and scenery are magnificent. You and your family are wonderful for taking on such a project to preserve history. The world thanks you.

That was absolutely fascinating , your production skills are getting better and better. Well done. It would be nice to know a little bit about the family who built it. Was it “clogs to clogs” in three generations?
Please don't be shocked, and don't laugh either. But when I was at boarding school in the UK, we had washstands by our beds, with white enamel bowls, large jugs, and enamel lidded pails underneath. Each floor had a (bigger) arrangement, similar to those in your chateau, with taps and stone sink, from which each morning we collected hot water in our jugs for washing, and then took the slop pails back, to empty them!! None of us, at the time, thought it was at all strange! It was a very nice school and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I feel quite nostalgic seeing the rooms in your chateau. What you think is antique, would possibly have been in use, till not that long ago.
I will never be brave enough to tear down a cobweb with my bare hands... 😳 On another note, it is so lovely so see people who have the financial means to live in a place like this, but still appreciate every bit of beauty inside and outside of it 👌 I would guess that a place like this and the items they acquired to fill it were originally made to show status and wealth. What a delight that this family sees the beauty for beauty's sake and takes the time to restore and preserve it! Bravo!
Did anybody else notice the abandoned dog bed/lit a polonaise style, that he and Stephanie made in one of her earlier vlogs? It was in one of the hallways of the upper, untouched floors. Oh well.......
I’m so happy watching this because some tours are so boring and people drag on and on about things that I don’t even know what they’re talking about 😂 but not this one and then you throw in funny things like the ghost calling Stephanie 🤣 it’s a beautiful home but it would give me anxiety all the work that needs to be done. Monetize with ads like Stephanie. Those who don't like click through and the rest of us click like and endure the ads to give revenue. All Stephanie had to do was mention how it works once and anyone who saw that now goes along with it happily to support.
Funny you mention this. Since Stephanie explained how it works, I've just muted the adverts and let them play through while attending to other things so she can earn a little from them. Seeing my wife and I have watched her entire series twice, and some of her episodes multiple times, I'd like to think we are helping.
I had no idea this was how it worked. I just assumed they'd get the revenue even if we skipped the ads. Thank you for letting me know about this, it's important that we support those who make the content we get to enjoy!
I.s.s.y I didn't know either until Stephanie explained it. They shouldn't be ashamed to let us know how we can contribute. There are 22 year olds buying houses from revenue off "for members only." They should be ashamed.
I had so many laughs watching this latest vlog. The camera work is exceptional and I can see a future in professional acting in Michael's future once life is back to normal. He is a very natural talent. The tour was very informative and showed how much has been done and still to be done. Oh those rotting beams! I am looking forward to more.
The more video's I watch, the more respect I get for you and your family. It's a monstrueus project, but what you guys have done so far... Amazing. It's so incredibly stylish, it fits so well together. You can see that there is put a lot of thought and care into it. The colours, furniture, everything fits the atmosphere in the chateau. Props!!!!
Fascinating series. So professionally done. This would make a great PBS series here in the US. I hope all the servants who worked there ages ago were treated kindly. Amazing effort by you and your family.
These chateau vlogs have sprouted from owners who have featured on channel 4 (Uk) Escape to the Chateau DIY - which itself was an off-shoot of Escape to the Chateau. Perhaps a US channel could purchase it???

I found this channel yesterday and I’m officially addicted!!! Haven’t been able to stop watching! I’ve never been to Europe and have always wanted to go. It’s my dream to stay a few days in an old castle or chateau.
Thank you for the tour; makes me appreciate the renovated rooms and the effort needed. The scene at 24:28 of the sunset through the dandelions took my breath away - orthy of printing and sale!
What a lot of work still to do quite daunting , but you'll get there. I'm having problems getting motivated while on lockdown to clean out my kitchen cupboards lol

Lol I laughed so hard at your Mrs Patmore impression!!! Well done!! Beautiful job on the Downton Abbey cinematic intro as well! Detailed, funny and charming! I love this channel!
Delightful and interesting tour, Michael, and presented with your refreshing directness and honesty. You also have more in common with 'Downton Abbey' than you may realise...Highclere Castle (I live next door) ALSO has leather figured wall coverings in the entrance hall! ANYTHING you can do to restore/retain the scraps thst you have left from your own property would be a very worthwhile enterprise.

I'm really excited for all of you to take on this project because the chateau's spirit is probably brightening up due to you all restoring it to its former brilliance ❤️
Michael's catchphrase= "....its nice to have it, still." (About whatever non-functioning item is sitting in the house). I mean it all in good fun. I love it. This is my first time on the channel too! Nice work!
Michael, this was a wonderful tour - one to watch more than once. The views, the grounds the sunsets and the photography are enchanting. And the ghosties! . . . you're so creative!!!
Michael and Stephanie have so many excellent talents and I absolutely love their positive "can do" attitudes. They are both like little historical databases! No project is too big or overwhelming. A little at a time and they will get to a project when their ready and inspired to give it their all. They are very uplifting and truly inspiring... Thank You!

Michael and his family did an amazing job restoring this beautiful chateau. I first saw him on Escape To The Chateau DIY and then on vlog of Stephanie Jarvis' Chateau Diaries.

You can still find small 'scenes' and cameos made like this ,,,, getting away from the point, ANOTHER great video Michael thank you .
I found this channel yesterday and I’m officially addicted!!! Haven’t been able to stop watching! I’ve never been to Europe and have always wanted to go. It’s my dream to stay a few days in an old castle or chateau.
You could clean the original wall paper and frame it for hanging in one of the rooms .
Thank you for the tour; makes me appreciate the renovated rooms and the effort needed. The scene at 24:28 of the sunset through the dandelions took my breath away - orthy of printing and sale!
That shot was magical, wasn't it? I had to pause the video just to watch a little longer.
I totally agree!!! Those sunset photos are amazing!!!
What a lot of work still to do quite daunting , but you'll get there.
I'm having problems getting motivated while on lockdown to clean out my kitchen cupboards lol
I just fall more in love with this home by the video. Honestly the love and knowledge you have of the home is what makes it feel so magical. It's something out of a dream.
Are you kidding me?! The first drone shot..OMG I have only discovered you - yes late to the party! So breath-taking the scenery.. I'm happy to be one of your new subscribers!
Lol I laughed so hard at your Mrs Patmore impression!!! Well done!! Beautiful job on the Downton Abbey cinematic intro as well! Detailed, funny and charming! I love this channel!
Loved the tour. Don’t know how I missed it but I am playing catch up tonight and loving it!!
What a wonderful way to pass the time this quarentine, thank you!
"The servants entrance is in the back"
Me: How dare you!
It was a tour of the servants areas, just a bit of fun. Everybody is welcome through the front door x
@@DoingItOurselvesOfficial I was also joking. Just a bit of fun on my part as well😉
I feel like thats always how people react when i show up at their doorstep
Milesgatman are you thinking of Carnival Row?
HAHAHA I was in stiches with the last bit! lol I really love the Downtown Abbey bit and the gorgeous landscapes shot! Very well done! :) xxx
😂😂😂 “this is where the servants would serve food for the lords and the ladies, but these days we have to serve it ourselves” poor thing
great story - of a family working and living together - these chateaus are amazing
🤣 The ghost call to Stephanie! Literally laughed out loud. ❤️ Thank you for the tour and THOSE VIEWS!!
And I’m sure that Downton bit took a bit of time! You were massively creative!
Stunning videos ,lovely music too.,u r very tallented.your relative played the huge base drum every flora day in helston cornwall.(my birthday)8 may.keep filming Michael.x maggie francis truro.
Not-so-important Servants Room:
-Very small
-Cold af
-One large window
-Masive humidity spot on the walls
Me: Oh hell yeah, just like living with my parents again
i bought 5 jane austen books and there’s no correlation with french chateaus, but i feel like i should read my books inside this beautiful construction
Michael both parts of the tour have been brilliant and so entertaining. I cannot wait until next weeks episode. X
This reminds me of my school. At weekends we'd explore places we weren't meant to go like the tower and attics., boot rooms and cellars. Fun but sometimes spooky!
The Downton Abbey cinematic at 10:50 was awesome
Imagine having a Halloween party or a mascarade ball there!!! At nightime, full of decorations, candles and big ball gowns. A dream.
I'm really excited for all of you to take on this project because the chateau's spirit is probably brightening up due to you all restoring it to its former brilliance ❤️
Oh so amazing...I can imagine the children when a little older rushing from room to room playing hide and seek. It is truly magnificent!!!
When I saw that broom in the air, my thought was I wouldnt mind a ghost that sweeps
😂😂😂 definitely, they may as well make themselves useful 👍
Amid all the needs of this lovely chateau, the current owners can still see the beauty that is inherent. Thank you.
Michael's catchphrase= "....its nice to have it, still." (About whatever non-functioning item is sitting in the house).
I mean it all in good fun. I love it. This is my first time on the channel too! Nice work!
The introduction makes me so happy every time! What a place to be with the whole family ❤️
Thank You!
Absolutely breathtaking scenery..the sky..the sunsets..the interior of the chateau. You and Stephanie are keeping me busy dreaming..while on lockdown here in Austin, Texas, USA. Happy Easter to you Michael. 🤠💜💐🐇

That place is stunning, living in such a beautiful place and waking up amidst nature like that must be the most amazing thing! A dream, for sure. You guys are doing an amazing job restoring it, I absolutely love it

We would love to visit The Château while on our trip home from USA make sure to place a link in your videos so we can book it . Many Blessings across the globe 🌎 The Martin’s 👨👩👦
I can't wait to see the four poster bed brought back to glory, although it already looks fabulous. The sunset was glorious and I imagine the video does not quite do it justice. Amazing colours
Dear Michael,
The skyline & landscapes are absolutely beautiful and the music you chose was devine. ~Joanna♡
I would love to see timelapse restoration process of the chateau! You know, like timelapses and quick progress updates in the middle! It would be awesome :)
I LOVE WATCHING HIM!!!❤😁 Oh and the Remodeling of this GORGEOUS CASTLE!!❤❤
Amazing garden and photography
Geez! Lol you totally freaked me out at the end. I was watching this to wind down with something idyllic before going to sleep. I normally have a decorative night light on but the batteries died. Something I didn't notice until the screen of my phone suddenly turned dark to the menacing sounds of your prank. Suddenly I was in pitch black darkness with only spooky sound effects. lol you got me. Gave me a start 😆👍
Loved this! Your acting, presenting, filming, directing and producing skills are fantastic! As always, a super multi talent! ❤️
That was so enjoyable, what is it about nosing around other people’s houses, love it
Michael and his family did an amazing job restoring this beautiful chateau. I first saw him on Escape To The Chateau DIY and then on vlog of Stephanie Jarvis' Chateau Diaries.
The downstairs is quite well preserved and lovely stonework. It will be a long time finishing the different areas. Always projects to look forward to.
Yes! Another upload. I'm obsessed with this place
the theme of this video: "we're lucky to have it"
And they certainly are! Nothings wrong with that.
mkaurn agreed!!
Maaaaaagic!!!
And the editing is fantastic, too. I loved the "musical interludes".
👍👍👍
Very nice that you and family are restoring this grand house! :)
Fabulous views of the garden
