You worked so hard all of you these past 2 years, we can't do much to help you out but hope that the views on TH-cam allow your family to fund at least a part of the renovation.
absolutely how I feel, it was just a short view of what we’ve seen over the past time…very proud of what’s been accomplished to rescue this magnificent edifice❤
We're all here for the long haul. We all want to see the staircase finshed, we all want to see the beautiful library, we all want to see the luxury bedrooms and pool. If it takes 30 years or more we'll still be watching. Thank you for sharing your amazing vision with us all.
J'habite à Ernée et je venais dans ce couvent quand j'étais petit!! Vous pourriez faire profiter vos magnifiques travaux au public lors des journées du patrimoine l'année prochaine ce serait génial!!
I'd forgotten how bad it was, it sure looks different now with your ongoing projects. The kitchen is gorgeous, can't wait to see the library finished. Keep up the great work you and your team of your Dad, Simon, Yanis, Rick and Steve not forgetting Alex the cameraman and last but not least Layla the puppy.
This would be a wonderful place to hold seminars and workshops where participants can be housed, fed, and entertained! Could be a lucrative source of income as well
2 years already?? So I've been watching the progress for 2 years, everyday? Wow. No regrets, really. I guess it also helps after my Dad's passing. Something fun to look forward to everyday. Can't wait to see the library & dining room to finish, and for the swimming pool! ☺💙
Many of us find a sense of peace & also joy, in watching the camaraderie in Billy's team. And the convent is an incredible bit of history, being painstakingly renovated. Blessings.
I thought exactly the same! I remember when Billy first took us on a tour and how dark and dreary it seemed with those metal shutters covering the windows. When they discovered the two fireplaces and then started work on the kitchen knocking down those walls the amount of work they took on seemed overwhelming. I can't believe how wonderful the kitchen looks. I know Billy says he isn't much of a designer but the results say otherwise. The whole building is going to be amazing when the team has finished 🥰
I like the way you dont stint on the quality of workmanship or fixtures and fittings. You also have excellent taste. Its fantastic to see it improving daily and your camaraderie with your team/family.
Billy, Thank you for this tour! It is great to remember the original, and see how far it has come! There is so much more to accomplish, but you will get there. Thank you and all involved for bringing back this beautiful convent to life, and remembering the history!
The convent is such a beautiful well built structure and to think you are reconstructing it bit by bit while trying to keep as much originality as possible. I have no doubt it will get done and it will be gorgeous. The Village people will truly get a chance to enjoy what you and "team Petherick" have built. The vision you have for this convent is going to truly be a show stopper when completed. Crack On !
Well, Billy the Convent could last another 200 years with the work you and your family and friends have done , And there is still more to restore . In time the library will be in the cue . Cheers From California 😎
I also saw the shadow through thee glass. Stopped and rewound to make sure I saw it. If it's a jacket hung there, someone did a smashing job positioning it to look like a nuns habit.
Great video; it gives us a much better perspective of the convent's layout. When you get to the staircase, the results will be phenomenal! You could make some extra money by giving guided tours on Sundays. I'd gladly be a docent! Happy Sunday from Ohio.
There is a long road ahead but it's obvious how the Pethericks feel about restoring and maintaining these old properties so I'm sure it will get done, congrats on your first two years and your progress!
Thank you again for this tour. I watch all your videos regularly, but never really figured out where all the rooms are exactly looking at it from outside. Now I know, you showed that very well!
What a nice surprise, thank you, Billy, Alex, and doggy for a wonderful tour and reminder of how far you've come. you and all the guys are doing an awesome job. Thank you!
Thanks Billy and Alex, it’s always fun to get an overview and to see your progress. I love the camaraderie of all the guys working together and having a bit of fun. It’s an ambitious project and I hope I’m around long enough to see it completed. I also love that your entire family has moved in together, including your mom’s parents who live nearby., what a wonderful way to raise children.
You have done so much Billy. Everyone has worked so hard and it shows where you have been. You, Simon, Yanis, Rick, Mick, Steve with are constantly making changes for the better with Alex recording it all with the and beautiful Lela. Of course Gwendolyn and the buys have helped too. It’s going to be years before the convent is finished but it will be outstanding and a boon to the town of Ernée. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
Thank you for the tour. I watch every day and enjoy seeing you bring back this building. .. not only with new, but keeping and honoring the past. Kudos to you, your family, and your team!!
Welcome to all the new subscribers, this is a great intro to the property. Also a nice recap for all of us 'slightly obsessed' followers who've been here since day 1. I highly recommend going back to the beginning, lots of neat projects/discoveries like a hidden room, the organ story, 'writing on the wall' mystery, more on the property's history, neat garden finds... Great entertainment, nice people popping in to work or visit & an awesome reno adventure to follow. Welcome aboard, Cheers everyone ☕
Can I ask what the team are hoping to do with the renovated building? Will it be as a personal home, or a commercial venue? Would be a fabulous place to host weddings!
@@moonchild2171 Billy mentioned in a previous vlog that his partner Gwendolyn wished to host retreats at the convent. Yes, it would be a fabulous wedding venue or even a hotel, private home etc.
Loved this. You are doing a fantastic job throughout. Could you somehow have the bell chimed at noon on a sensor or automated to ring daily at noon. I have lived in an araea that rang the bell at noon & the sound was so endearing, as is the bell at your convent. Kudos to you all.
I love these full tour videos! It’s incredible to see how far you’ve come and all the progress you’ve made. It’s going to look stunning when it’s all completed 😊
Billy,Alex my loves. Thank you for the tour. So much progress has taken place since the beginning. So much to be proud of. Congratulations on taking on this big milestone in your life journey. Until tomorrow. Please, take care and stay safe. I love you guys 🍺🍺👍🇺🇸🙏❤️🌹🌞😇🌈🕊
Billy, great job on the convent, and yourself you look great and I’m sure you have put in hard work in your personel changes ❤ and it shows GREAT JOB !
Although I’ve been watching since your very first video before you purchased the convent, it’s nice to have the tour and remember how far you’ve come in the last two years. ❤
I've got to be honest, I've been watching for over a year now, and even with this tour, I still can't quite wrap my head around the layout. I feel like "we're" so close to having the dining room done! I'm looking most forward to the garden.
Great tour, Billy! The convent is just spectacular. How fortunate of you to have purchased it. And, you are doing a beautiful job on all the renovations. Keep cracking on! I enjoy each video. Your family, friends and workers are very special people - gives hope to the human race in such uncertain times. Thank you!
Thank you Billy for the tour, I absolutely love watching your videos. I will definitely continue watching and recommend new viewers to subscribe and watch the beauty come back to life. Thank you everyone at team Pethrick.❤❤
That was nice! It helps to see the whole thing now and then, and remember just how much work you guys have done. I know it’s long and hard and expensive, but it will be worth it too! You are giving this beautiful, gracious old lady back to the world. I’m sure she, and all the ladies who have lived there, are thankful to you for it.🐝❤️🤗
Billy clean out the pantry rooms for storing tables and chairs for social events in the convent , the empty rooms in the office could be turned into overnight accommodation for staff if it's used as a hotel or a hostel . You could knock through two cell walls and make one of them an ensuite bathroom and closet while the other is a bedroom . The apartments that are not earmarked for family members could be used as a source of revenue by renting them out either as airbnb's or as rentals to the locals as short term lets for Six months to a year bringing in an income .
They may be planning gardens for fresh veggies and squash to feed people. There are monstrous sized rooms to store furniture. Those beautiful vegetable storage racks are antique, probably from the 16/17 century. They should stay.
Hey Billy, started following you and your family at the chateau, and followed you on to the convent. It’s wonderful to see the transformation, I love that you restore, preserve and improve. I hate when I see a very beautiful building and the inside is ultra modern, to me it’s an insult to the traditional building. Yes you can put in all mod cons, and preserve the integrity of the building. Just to say you do it beautifully. The kitchen is a masterpiece. To you and the crew I salute you. 😊
Billy, you and your team have done an amazing job at the renovations of this "convent". It is going to be a truly beautiful building when you are finished and also usable for whatever purposes you have in mind. Thank you for the tour some of your plans for it. Have a wonderful day
Really enjoyed the tour Billy and Alex, thank you. It almost seems overwhelming the amount of work to be done with so few workers but what you have accomplished is amazing.
It's great that you have Alex onboard for these days still to do the full tour and orient the newer viewers. Was the green apartment, Ryan's 2nd attempt apartment? Who's working on it? That postcard is fascinating. You quickly come to study the granite chimneys that used to be there that seem to have remnants buried in the body of the building now.
I think Ryan worked on both the apartments shown, the Ground floor? first before abandoning it for the second floor? one and then abandoning it for his house (He has gone quite recently but Simon said he was "Busy" so we will have to wait and see, I am not criticising him as it's his own life and he did push the projects along when he worked there and at his house), Billy renovated another apartment also and the plumber put a bathroom in it, not sure if someone rents that out!?!
@@TomTomicMic I recall the apartment that got the new bathroom. Billy said that was for an off camera family member. But the apartments Ryan worked on were not identical. The first was on the ground floor with doors to the side (?), front and to the courtyard. Ryan's apt #2 seemed to look exactly like the green one. I think Sadie has the top floor closer to the gate. The apartments bldg(s) is the most confusing to my eye. Just from exterior stone, it looks like 3 different constructions attached to each other.
I am from Iowa in the midwest USA. I just want to tell you that I think your videos are great and your music choices are outstanding. I thoroughly enjoy your contents. I started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago and am trying to get caught up. I appreciate how hard you work and just wanted to let you know. Thank you.
Awesome tour Billy n Alex, you forget as each project finishes up (sorta) just how much is left...but what awesome plans and possibilities for the future and the visions that are pulling these projects to fruition...and a great crew of friends and family to add to it...and bits of shenanigans as well to lighten the load...thank guys, now CRACK ON...!
Reminds me of a charity I visited once. It was an old hospital, & you got to stay in one of the old rooms in a bunk bed & do volunteer work for the week on the place, so that it would become a refuge for those in need later when complete. It was a smart plan for funds & free labor lol... This place could definitely do the same with a little work. ❤
If you were in Canada 🇨🇦 50% of total cost go to permits. Imagine the cost to build is 600k, you’re looking at 1.2 million in the end. 18:01 I have an idea for the elevator shaft if you keep it. Have you ever seen plaster Art?? It’s amazing, you can create scenes out of plaster from a hare running to a battle scene.
I have been watching the convent project ever since you dumped that envelope full of keys on your car seat and opened the old gate. I really do enjoy following your content and wish you much success going forward. Many greetings from Germany!
Hi Billy! Those of us who have been following your channel for a long time, remember how difficult it was to get here, from fixing the lift by hand, from raising the bell to the organ, to discovering the huge fireplace or the floor, underneath from the 70s, and that beautiful kitchen with the hand-laid tiles, custom-made furniture, the oven, even the coffee maker and the crystal chandelier. A work done step by step, with surprises and discoveries in each area of the convent. And I belive so.🤫 It has been a pleasure to accompany you in this adventure, we will continue to do so. ❤😍👏👏👏👏👏
I can't express how I feel watching this processing. It's amazing. I can't wait to see it all finished nicely keeping the old charme. Many many stories in these walls. Great job!
Everything in the states has to be permitted and inspected. It’s very time consuming. Workers need to be licensed and insured. There is a gas station/quick stop near us that has been finished for months and months. Waiting on permits to open.
Billy as you were showing the attic and the bell tower, I couldn’t help but wonder if it would be possible to turn that area into a multi-bedroom suite later if you turn this into a retreat or hotel. It might even make a great apartment for staff even though you do have the other apartment across the courtyard.
I'm in until the last brick is laid and then some! BIlly has the best people and the best tools for the restoration/renovation! I've learned a ton on this journey and love every single minute 🤗🤗🤗❤
Thanks for sharing this on a Sunday Billy when you usually spend precious time with your lovely family. Seeing old footage again really highlights how much work you’ve done already 😍
Luckily it's only a few hours for him and not too taxing, and Alex takes care of the camera and editing "mostly", it's also, in the long run, for his family's economic security, slowly but surely improving the building to the standard that's being set is adding value and the €450,000 will be millions!?!
Billy, about the dust problem: perhaps you could look into the Dryfast system. It's basically a big fan (ventilator) with a large hose and a filter. You tape off the room you're working in and suck out the dusty air through the big yellow duct. It then either goes outside or out into the clean rooms through a big big filter bag. So now you're creating an underpressure in the dusty room. Clean air flows into that room through any cracks in the walls, door and your seal, but dusty air can never flow out. That way it keep the house free of dust. More than enough suction for even your big rooms. If you set it up with velcro or makeshift plastic doors, it should be no problem getting in and out.
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour, so thank you both. What are your plans for the future please? Do you plan to make it a full time family home, or a hotel( hope it's not the second)? See you tomorrow 🤗🇬🇧
Thank you for the tour Billy. I've been following all your progress from the beginning and watching this I thought of my favorite parts, you guys pouring the cement floor with underfloor heating, fascinating! And my all time favorite was the entire series of videos about the organ, that was educating and entertaining! Also you added music to the beginning, yay, much more special!
I’m a new subscriber, found your channel just a couple days ago. About 5 minutes into this video I thought to myself oh that place is just full of spirits. Then you said that one floor gives you the creeps. Yep you are not alone there. Amazing work you have all done to this place and I just love seeing old places restored. Looking forward to following your journey from 🇨🇦.
Such an intensive and expensive labor of love. It is amazing what you have done. I would be overwhelmed with the scope, but you are doing wonderful. Thanks for the tour. Hi Lela!
Billy you and your team are doing an incredible job with the old convent keep the videos coming I look forward to watching them every day since you brought the convent really is incredible what you guys are doing and thank you all 👏👏👏🙏👍
Seems like if the apartments could be completed it would really help to fund the rest of the project! They look so much better than they did at first! So close to being done!!
I can not believe it’s been two years it’s been amazing to follow I’m so excited for the next few years , it will make the most amazing space / hotel wedding venue ect
I love the way you have such respect for the history and original features of this lovely building. There's nothing worse than seeing a historical building with character which has had all of its interesting and wonderfully crafted features stripped out in the interior. Well done.
Great to see an updated tour of the place and I know you guys have a long way to go but yas have also come so far since when you and gwen got the keys (think it was outside a cafe if memory serves correct) It has to be a labour of love and a lot of stress at times too but it’s been amazing to come along on the adventure and see its transformations. You’ve got to be a brave people to take on such a project for sure! Today I’m reading “the monk” by Matthew Lewis written in 1794 published 1796 - it’s crazy to think that chapel was there before that was written. There was a study done on long corridors and invoking fear even in non believers. So I’d say even the biggest sceptic might get a shiver or two walking down there billy but.. no doubt it’s going to look brilliant when it gets its make over … ill end this comment with this for today. Why would anyone in their right mind cover that beautiful staircase in lino!!! That’s a sin !! 😂
Also older nuns usually get cleaners in they’re not likely to be on their hands and knees scrubbing stairs.. like for most old people this becomes a hindrance.
Fantastic tour! So interesting to do the walk down memory lane. Watching the daily videos it is easy to forget how it all looked at the beginning. Billy has such an amazing vision for this property! 😊

7:54 dude, the nun silhouette in the door glass scared the hell out of me!
It was startling indeed.
It’s exquisite. So important to keep these historic buildings renovated and cared for .
Indeed you did Billy 👏😊
Thank you, Billy (and Alex), for the wonderful trip down Memory Lane! 💞💕💞
Billy every time you do one of these videos I fall more in love with the convent. It truly is a beautiful building ❤
the ceilings are oerfect! love what you have done with them
Thanks for a re cap Billy and Alex. Can't believe it's two years. On my bucket list to visit. 🤗
I can't express how I feel watching this processing. It's amazing. I can't wait to see it all finished nicely keeping the old charme. Many many stories in these walls. Great job!
I loved how Alex’ dog went running when she saw the couch. Jumped right on it. 🛋️
This video is a reminder of how long I've been watching! Right from the beginning of the convent journey! 🎉
At 7:41 the shadow image through the glass panel door looks like a nuns habit and scapular. Pretty spooky! Watch out Billy.
and Alex!
Everything in the states has to be permitted and inspected. It’s very time consuming. Workers need to be licensed and insured. There is a gas station/quick stop near us that has been finished for months and months. Waiting on permits to open.
Such an incredible property. Love watching the changes. Thank you for "cracking on"❣️
Great tour; nicely put together Billie and Alex. A few before and current shots. A up to date visual mapping would be nice too at one point.
Wow. It's beautiful! Thanks for the tour. Looking forward to how your renovation turns out.
I got to say it is amazing. Billy the only word to use, so crack on.😊
There's a nun looking through the door 7:54 😂😂😂 probably a jacket but looks like a nuns hood
thank you Billy and Alex
Hi Lela!
Billy you and your team are doing an incredible job with the old convent keep the videos coming I look forward to watching them every day since you brought the convent really is incredible what you guys are doing and thank you all 👏👏👏🙏👍
Billy- Your team is making wonderful progress on the convent. Way to go !
Seems like if the apartments could be completed it would really help to fund the rest of the project! They look so much better than they did at first! So close to being done!!
BILLY, you should put a pitched roof and a faux window on the lift shaft that comes out of the roof. Make it look like a better dorma add on
I can not believe it’s been two years it’s been amazing to follow I’m so excited for the next few years , it will make the most amazing space / hotel wedding venue ect
Cover in lino to protect the wood it's easier to wash also with 40 odd buns scrubbing the place down!?!
@@TomTomicMic might be easier to wash alright … doubt it was put there to protect the wood though.
Also older nuns usually get cleaners in they’re not likely to be on their hands and knees scrubbing stairs.. like for most old people this becomes a hindrance.
The apartment would be a great rental or short-term stay for visitors. Love watching all the change.
Fantastic tour! So interesting to do the walk down memory lane. Watching the daily videos it is easy to forget how it all looked at the beginning. Billy has such an amazing vision for this property! 😊
So glad someone brought this and is trying so hard to preserve it! I love it
Floor plans would be helpful
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You have such vision and you have worked so hard! I love tuning in!
There is Layla, wagging her tail, jumping up on the couch with her toy? LOL,, ❤ Great tour.! I remember day one.. Amazing what you have accomplished in just two years..
