I love Van Morrison. Some others of his to listen to are Brown Eyed Girl, Tupelo Honey, Someone Like You, Have I Told You Lately, Days Like This, and Moondance.
He plays almost any instrument best show I've ever seen. Small venue many drunk bikers kept yelling GLORIA, His most famous song. He asked them to stop That was a long time ago. He walked off the stage and the drunks left many waited for them to leave. His crew locked the doors. He then played every song he'd ever written. Lasted till 4 in the morning. So good.
I love Van Morrison. This song is on the album "Moondance" from sometime around 1969. The whole album is such a vibe. Some good places to start: Moondance (title track) Caravan And it Stoned Me Crazy Love -- Literally any other song from this album Other great vibe tunes from the 1972 album Saint Dominic's Preview: Saint Dominic's Preview (title track) Listen to the Lion Almost Independence Day -- again, all songs on this album are great, but less well-known than Moondance. Upbeat vibe tune that was very popular: Brown-eyed girl -- Fun fact: the song was originally intended to be about young, interracial love, but the record producers thought it would be too controversial, so the object of his fond reminiscences was changed to simply having brown eyes, to make it more vague and thus not controversial. When you listen to the song and the vivid images it creates in your mind, imagine the girl he's singing about being a black girl (as a white man in an interracial marriage, it has particular poignance to me). My love of Van Morrison started in the summer of 1984, after graduating college, I visited my then-girlfriend most weekends, which was about a 4 hour drive each way. I would drive home on Sunday night. One such drive, I was in the middle of nowhere somewhere between Binghamton, NY and Scranton, PA and the radio station played side A of the Moondance album (back in the days when Vinyl records reigned supreme and had two sides). Hearing that album side in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere was an experience that is hard to describe.
I believe there a Van Morrison song for every possible mood that you might find yourself in. His mastery of rock, jazz, folk, blues, soul/R&B, Celtic traditional and even gospel will leave you amazed and intrigued. His songwriting is phenomenal and is recognized as one of the greatest singer/songwriters in the world. Many of his songs are just instrumentals (check out "Spanish Steps"). Yet as contemplative as he often is, you cannot help but smile and feel upbeat when you listen to "Bright Side of the Road" or "Jackie Wilson Said". Truly a rabbit hole to do a deep dive into.
"when the foghorn blows". As a man who has worked on the sea, this song is from the perspective of a sailor. the 'Mystic' is the river of time... sending love
i smiled when you mentioned this being a road trip song. i first discovered it on a road trip when i was in college, and it’s been a road trip favourite for almost 40 years now
Van Morrison songs hit deep in me, soul , jazz, and yet even more . Straight to me feelings. Tupelo Honey is like that. "You can't stop us on the road to freedom, you cant stop us cause our eyes can see. ... "
What I’ve enjoyed about Van Morrison’s music for the past 40 years is that he sings about the Spiritual side of the person! Most people sing about the physical person! He gets to the Soul so beautifully! The song Someone like You, is my favorite!! 🤩
I love this song, but it brings back memories of playing it at a friend's wake and... we couldn't make it all the way through. Still, a stellar mood with this one - so sweet
Ah, the Irish troubadour. This and the album from which it came (Moondance) is a treat. He is a complex, multi-layered artist. 'Madame George', 'Listen to the Lion', 'Caravan' to name just a few of the less obvious choices of this man's huge canon. Thanks for the foghorn. Cheers
Van Morrison is one of the greatest, there are a lot of good suggestions here, but if you want to hear something more upbeat of his, check out "Jackie Wilson Said (I'm in Heaven When You Smile)". It's just a happy song that makes you want to dance. Here's a link: th-cam.com/video/TY0_1VN7h8c/w-d-xo.html
Van Morrison is a British Born artist that began his career way back in 1965 in a Band from England called "Them." He had a huge hit called "Gloria." Then as a solo artist, he skyrocketed to superstardom with hits like "Brown Eyed Girl," "Wild Night," and "Moon dance." He's now in his mid 70s, and still performing. Great musical icon. Thanks.
@@Grendelbc In your dream!!!!.I suppose you are a American with your fantasy and romantic notions about Ireland.Supose you have 2% Irish blood in your veins as well.I could be rude but what's the point.

Van's music has been featured in so many rom-com movies along with Peter Cetera,(of Chicago), songs. Love Van's vocal phrasing, like singing poetry. Thanks Angela!
the opening line hits me deep every time I hear it.......... "we were born before the wind, also younger than the sun" we have all been here a long long time...in one form or another
Another great choice and another great reaction Bright Eyes!!! Van Morrison wrote and sang a lot of hits over the years, if you want to check out another one of those popular ones listen to Brown eyed girl, one of his bigger hits. I love what you do and I always look forward to your next reaction keep up the good work!!!!😍🥰🥰😘😘😘💕💕💕💕❤️❤️❤️❤️
My beautiful mother in law. This song was played as I had the honor of bearing her coffin. Love you forever di. I'll see you in heaven soon. May God guide you through. Love you forever and ever.
Fond memories of the last three artist you played. I get my dose of the Allman brothers listening to Van the man (Van Morrison) sharing the stage with the Allman Brothers with " Into the Mystic "(Live at Alltel Pavilion at Walnut Creek, Raleigh, Nc, 8/10/2003)
I love your addition comments to this spectacular performance but I would like to know your opinion about Van’s duet with JLHooker in song Dont Look Back.
So many great Van Morrison songs, which many others have already mentioned, so I will just add to try to watch him live some time! Great reaction on this one, and thanks to your patron!!
Van Morrison was a very spiritual person, so there is that component in every song, some more than others. I know that his band wanted him to go more rock as-in G-L-O-R-I-A, but he stayed true to Himself. I knew his music in the 60’s, but rediscovered it in the 90’s. A-lot of folks think that “Have I told You Lately that I Love You” is a romantic song, but I believe it is more intimate, between Child and Heavenly Father!
Van the Man has a massive body of work, way more than the average listener is aware of. And so many of his songs are like diamonds in the rough. Here’s a sampling. Give them a listen: Foreign Window Listen to the Lion Dweller on the Threshold Warm Love Ancient Highway New Kind of Man And so much more.
His genius album was, "Astral Weeks". The more commercial stuff like Brown Eyed Girl - which he almost never played live - are all ok; but if want something deeper and "mystic" then you have to hear Astral Weeks!
Van is my favorite artist. Springsteen is close but Van in the man. This may well be my fav Van tune. Into the Mystic has been covered by so many other artists it's hard to grasp. And Van has done it so many different ways, as he does with all his songs.
Van Morrison always wanted to tap into the deepest things that would fill his soul and make him feel as alive as possible. He wants to feel what he imagines men felt centuries ago, before modernity, because it must have been a powerful and primal force that made them take on life's challenges. Obviously they didn't have to seek nature to replenish their spirits as we do. They had stories and songs and ancient religious myths and love and sex and children and warfare.
He was on the radio constantly in the 60s and 70s. To Not hear of Van Morrison is to not know or hear great music. But I'll excuse you because you are very young. I used to play radio in my room at night just waiting to hear that song again oh, and guess what? It comes out a half an hour later. That's what a big hit it was.
Thanks! I can hear the next song on the album coming up in my head! It’s “Moondance,” which is a must for any student of the hit song history! It’s jazz. With many top jazz artists! Joe Sample, Hubert Laws etc! Yes! The foghorn! Van is the man! His first hit was “Gloria!” When he was with “Them.”
Here’s a list of some great songs: Concrete Blonde- Joey Foreigner- I want to know what love is Bon Jovi- Thank you for loving me Lover boy- Heaven in your eyes Heart- Alone Roxette- It must have been love Bryan Adams- Everything I do Boston- Amanda Nazareth- Love hurts Eagles- Hotel California Warrant- Heaven Mr. Big- To be with you Extreme- More than words

Try "Ballerina" "Hymns To The Silence" "Raincheck" "In The Afternoon" "Someone Like You" "Tupelo Honey" from live album "A Night In San Francisco" - "Did You Get Healed" "I've Been Working" "See Me Through" "ill Take Care Of You". Enjoy😊😊
Another great song, another great singer-song writer. I had heard that Van Morrison suffered from stage fright ... though I am not sure how true that is. Does anyone know?
I applaud the young generation liking songs from the 60's and early 70's however, by NOT living and experiencing the moods and times when these songs were recorded, they're only getting a small fraction of the songs meanings, thoughts and emotions.
thank you for letting it play through.
Danced with my late wife at our wedding... so many , too many memories . beautiful song
I love Van Morrison. Some others of his to listen to are Brown Eyed Girl, Tupelo Honey, Someone Like You, Have I Told You Lately, Days Like This, and Moondance.
I second you on Tupelo Honey, my favorite Van Morrison song, with Into the Mystic a close second.
The whole Moondance album is amazing!
