With this in mind, in today’s article we’ll be covering 7 rap delivery styles that every rapper must have…
If that want to be considered in that “GOAT-level” conversation as a rapper when learning how to rap.
    #7 The Raspy Rap Delivery
With that out of the way, let’s first discuss one of the most heralded and cherished rap styles:
    The raspy rap delivery.
This is the vocal tone that almost exclusive to a rap, due to the fact that in order to master the raspy rap delivery you often have to “break the rules” of good vocal practice and actually push your voice to do things you don’t normally do in everyday conversation.
    Naturally Raspy Voice
Some of the most well-known “naturally” raspy voice rappers include artists such as Jadakiss (who literally has a brand called So Raspy), Method Man, DMX, and Nas.
You can hear their natural tone exhibited even in their interview and sometimes that raspiness actually INCREASES over time due to certain behaviors such as smoking regularly… funny enough something that all four of those rappers do.
    Developed Through Song Practice
Which leads you to need to know how to develop your raspy voice.
Artists such as Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and 50 Cent all likely developed this ability through training and song practice. You can hear that they aren’t naturally raspy speakers by simply watching any of their interviews, especially in their younger days.
    #6 The “Nasal” Rap Delivery
Similarly to the fact that being aware of where you place the air and pressure of your voice is important in raspy tone…
You want to do the same thing to attain the “nasal” rap delivery.
    #5 The Smooth Rap Delivery
Now, with this in mind it’s important to understand the smooth rap delivery is a combination of nasal “up to the sky” rapping and a little more supportive air in your vocal cords to make your rap voice sound effortless.
This is the rap delivery used by such big names as Jay-Z, Drake, LL Cool J, 50 Cent, Andre 3000, and many others.
#4 The Dynamic “Up-And Down” Delivery
Now, we already hinted at this delivery here with the discussion of Eminem, who probably has the most “elastic” up and down delivery ever. I personally would also put DMX, Busta Rhymes, and Ludacris into this category.
    #3 The Aggressive Rap Delivery
The punch-in technique is exactly one of the ways most commonly used to give a powerful rap voice performance with the aggressive rap delivery.
It should go without saying that DMX used this a lot in his career, but also 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar, and Tech N9ne are other well known practitioners of the aggressive rap delivery.
#2 The Deep Voiced Rap Delivery
Now, you can additionally chose to practice the “deep” or deep voiced rap delivery with that freestyle technique…
And it may even be a LITTLE bit easier as you drill because you won’t be using so much energy trying to stay aggressive.
    #1 The Reflective Rap Delivery
And last we have the “reflective” or thoughtful rap delivery. This is by no means the “#1” rap voice delivery since all of these are equally important if you want to be able to be in that “GOAT” level conversation…
…However it is indeed a crucial skill to master when learning rap voice tips.
Good examples of this tone would be Jay-Z on “Soon You’ll Understand”, 2Pac on “Dear Mama”, Eminem on “Rock Bottom”, J. Cole on “Lights Please”, and many others.

I’m fairly certain a huge part of learning to be a musical force is learning how your vocal dynamics work for you and crafting a sound that hooks listeners and communicates your emotions. (Tyler’s sound being an example)

This is very important. Every artist who pays attention to the way he sounds while recording knows how a rapper's delivery can change depending on postures and air pushing while spitting bars. Thanks and keep enlightening rapper's I'm from Kigali Rwanda

That thing about raspy deliveries might depend on a vocal artist's background. Personally, a lot of the singers I imitated as a kid (Kurt Cobain, Rob Zombie, Mike and Ben Reed from Small Brown Bike, Chuck and Chris from Hot Water Music, etc) rely a lot on holding one's voice right on the edge of breaking up.
Essentially the grit comes from lower in your throat than where the actual words are being formed; once you figure out how to use your vocal fry to add that element you should be able to apply it to speech or vocals. You can also locate it by doing a creaky voice, although that usually only engages the vocal fry instead of teaching how to use it and the vocal cords together.

Definitely, but it will also hurt if you're doing it wrong so you should be able to recognize it.
It won't be as obvious as with harsh vocals but the discomfort will still be noticeable within a few syllables.
