The 7 Secrets of Catchy Rap Choruses
How To Write Rap Hooks That Go Viral
🔥 Secret 1: The Repetition Revolution
Repetition isn't just parroting words. It's a tactic deeply rooted in human psychology. For instance, Kendrick Lamar's "Humble" employs repetition in a way that gets you to engage actively with the song, transforming you from a passive listener to an involved participant. Drake's "God's Plan" takes a minimalist route, yet its simplicity is as impactful.
📜 Secret 2: The Rhyme Time Trick
Rhyme serves as a powerful tool, not just as a decorative element. Whether it's straightforward or slant rhymes, a well-executed rhyme scheme can turn your hook into a lyrical and rhythmic masterpiece.
🎶 Secret 3: The Sonic Boom
Instrumentals are not just background noise. They elevate the emotional impact of your lyrics, as showcased by songs like Juice Wrld's "Lucid Dreams."
🌟 Secret 4: The Emotional Resonance Radar
A rap hook that evokes emotion has staying power. Logic's "1-800-273-8255" is more than catchy; it's emotionally charged and resonant.
🎉 Secret 5: The Singalong Spell
A hook that gets everyone singing along is magic in itself. Think about how "Goosebumps" by Travis Scott keeps listeners coming back.
📚 Secret 6: The Culture Catcher
A culturally relevant hook can turn your song into a societal conversation. Drake's "In My Feelings" didn't just go viral; it became a cultural event.
🎲 Secret 7: The Surprise Element
Incorporating a twist can set your song apart. Childish Gambino's "This is America" is a perfect example.

All My Life by Dirk and Cole have elements of a catchy hook from the repeatability to the lil kid choir.
Also would be interested in F u mean by Gunna as an example. I think the beat with that vocal sample is a big element there, but the actual hook may not be the biggest element of its success
All My Life to me resembles Tupac's - My Block with the kids singing
i'ma use this
I Know? by Travis Scott gives a clear paradoxical blend of simplicity and auditory setting that gives a strong sing along spell. The sonic boom on the high piano notes mixed with the repetition revolution of “its 5 am & im drunk rn, tell me can we still fuck” & “I know” gives this song altogether that simple yet uniquely strong emotional resonance that hooks listeners to consistently come back to the song over & over again.
The drum/bass drop into the vocals is that simple transition that kicks listeners into the audio experience yet coupled with the unique high piano notes & solid vocals make the sing along spell stronger with each listen. It’s almost like the song gets better with every listen.
