so much for epic sieges guess pros will only ever occasionally use a wooden wall to block off their markets in this game half the time they dont even bother upgrading their towers
Overall a good patch, I am very suprised Centaurs and Hippeus were not touched at all (Cyclops spam might be real now though with the reduced cost haha). The Atlantean buffs are a step in the right direction, looks like they're playing it very safe by only giving more stat buffs in case it gets out of hand but I still would like to see some adjustments to Leto and Carnivora getting nerfed is very unfortunate since it's main use is to stop that second TC or be an annoyance mid fight. Also note how Kronos wasn't touched at all, just as well since he's imo the strongest pick for Atlanteans currently =)
I like using the carnivora to force idle time on villagers at gold mines for instance, and also it's one more thing for My opponent to juggle 🤔 They'll kill a few villagers less now in that use case, but they'll still force plenty of idle time!
@@Mathilde_Moksha_333 Good idea! I think it's one of Gaia's better God Powers but getting nerfs to an already weaker than average pantheon feels bad haha
@@AMDGBananaBen Hmmm 🤔 I've found that the Gaia Forest is a very precious defensive tool in the first ten minutes of the game as You prepare Your eco boom with gaia, it's helped Me a lot to make choke points, I can usually cast it at least three time by the time an enemy shows up. I also upgrade My towers around 4-5 minutes in and combined with the chokepoints, it's been very good defense so far! I'm not high up in the ladder though so I can't say how it compares in the later game. Gaia's got four great god powers in My experience 🤔 Traitor is very nice to get an enemy's myth unit on My side (a couple times I used it on a single villager that was building a TC to stop/delay the TC from being built! even if there are multiple villagers building it, You can traitorize a single one and start harassing the others, at the very least it's a good distraction for Your opponent to manage) and Implosion can deal a tremendous economic blow to an enemy by wiping out a whole bunch of villagers (best use case being bang on a TC surrounded with farms and villagers! I run in with 2-4 contarius sent on a suicide mission and pop the Implosion in the middle 😂) That's pretty much a game over for the opponent by that point so long as You're not scraping by Yourself
@@Mathilde_Moksha_333 Gaia Forest is, pardon the pun, growing on me haha Amazing that you also thought of using it to make chokepoints like me, it's so cheap too so easily useable early game. @@AMDGBananaBen I loooooove puns like these 🤗☀Yesss!! Unlike walls or buildings, units can't destroy gaia forests! Sending villagers would be suicide and take ages (well, ages, haha 😂😂) to cut them down anyway, and forest fire is limited to one minor god from the norse pantheon 🤔 So they're essentially indestructible walls! I just did a match earlier today where the gaia forests helped Me a ton to defend against a minotaur rush. I had 5-6 gaia forests around My starting TC by the end of the game when I won 😂 Then the towers help mow down enemy forces, which is helped by the chokepoints! The wood can definitely be very helpful on water maps too! I've been considering building "passageways" across the map with economic guilds, this way I can have the lush spread around the map, with the 15% bonus speed on lush from the Channels tech, it helps a lot during defense and also for retreat 🤔 Might have to keep a villager or two close to danger to build those, but might also be worth the risk!
Ra has cute 'oh hey we buffed you but the buffs aren't helping solve your problems'-buffs Then smacked us in the face with the Heroic upgrade nerf. Like fck off game.
Gaia didn't have a god power blocking ability, but he lush did stop enemy buildings from being built upon it. The Hesperides Tree from Theia did gets its god power ability removed however.

Pretty disappointed to see a lot of nerfs. Instead I think they should have buffed anything lagging behind with pretty much no nerfs unless extremely needed
some nerfs were completely pointless and unnecessary, for example the increased Durantion for both heroic and mythic. Like wtf?? avg ladder gameplay strategy was already too stalled on micro-rush/all-ins to finish the game asap, now with this change they will force even more this shit. I can understand some needed nerfs, but this one was a total mess
Only change it needed was a fix to lobbies multiplayer lobby lag etc. literally inviting friends to lobby feels like there is 1000000ms lag, sometimes they dont even get invites, I guess they just rented a poor server thinking everyone will leave the game
The devs really hate atlanteans and egyptians by massively nerfing them, while extemely buffing Greeks and Norse..In the old AOM, it was really rock paper scissors. When it comes down to it in the late game, The Greeks were superior againsts the Norse, and slighlty against the Egyptians, while the Atlanteans checked the Greeks via their Fanatic and Contarius hero spam. The Atlanteans have always been a slow starting civ and can be beaten by rush factions early such as the Norse..B.S
As an xbox player who played many many years ago on pc controller is a lot slower to get things done and yeah it really sucks getting stomped by keyboard and mouse players in fights i shouldve won but couldnt manage fast enough
Update. After a complete day playing ladder and legendario IA, the game is worst than ever. The meta is Rush as Norse or build defensive against Norse, and the fact that Hades got nerf, more Norse Rush are spamming multiplayer...

With the croc buff it might be possible to do some harass right after age up. Although it feels really clunky to land so that's the thing they really need to fix in my opinion to make it potentially useful
Does anyone at all understand the Gastraphetoros nerf? I mean, the unit was literally worthless and now it's actually a joke stat wise. Why would you ever spend 100 wood and 60 gold on that?
It can outrange buildings and is very strong against buildings. I don't have the stats in mind but I don't think this nerfs its damage against buildings much, mostly against other units. All three unique fortress units from the greeks have a STRONG bonus against buildings, though the gastraphetoros are the only one of the three to be ranged!
Why would they be worse against buildings? I don't think anything has armor against divine damage (and while buildings don't have much crush armor, they do still have a little).
Not going to like that priests lose 50% healing. Troops not as good and greeks can slam out a lot of mythical units the egyptians cannot get that level of divine power.

Just played some game for TEST THE "BALANCE" against CPU Legendary 1v1. I cant find a way to win against Loki or Odin, this balance is absurd. Before the balances, each Civ had a chance vs the Norse rush, the only way its win a Mirror match and it becomes a thing of who has the best map on his side. General pronunciation tip (because you were wondering about "Chimera"): In all Greek words the "ch" is pronounced like a "k", like in "character", not like in "cheese". I don't think there happens to be a counterexample in any of the foreign words in this game, even the non-Greek ones.
Ah dam. Meteor was actually what made me pick over the human soldier buffs of the other one since it did a little bit more than a tornado.
Now i might just end up switching.
How can i watch the tournament an is there a time zone map. From Australia
Divine damage is essentially true damage, jus ignores 100% armor
You missed a couple of buffs to Oranos there, but nothing too major
Not enough for my Gaia 😢
I don't always push my code, but when I do, I push it on Friday afternoon.
(I'm JK. Due to Microsoft certification process, this code was likely finalized and pushed days ago, it's just funny that this is when it finally deployed.)
The golden rule
For some fucking reason, me and some other players can't move the units in the editor. If you press test then yes, the game turns normal, but when you return back to edit we cant move them again.
You need to consider the contrast too, sure the atlantean buffs were a bit insignificant but at the same time the greeks and the norse got hit hard by nerfs like you said so those things in unison will provide greater swing. Gaia vs Hades wont look the same at all.
I want this game pretty badly, have no interest in Multiplayer - is it worth it for the single player?
Man the game crashed on me so many times on Xbox like I got frustrated. Hopefully they fixed crash and freezes
It got worse for me and my buddies
so much for epic sieges guess pros will only ever occasionally use a wooden wall to block off their markets in this game half the time they dont even bother upgrading their towers
I like using the carnivora to force idle time on villagers at gold mines for instance, and also it's one more thing for My opponent to juggle 🤔
They'll kill a few villagers less now in that use case, but they'll still force plenty of idle time!
@@Mathilde_Moksha_333
Good idea!
Gaia's got four great god powers in My experience 🤔 Traitor is very nice to get an enemy's myth unit on My side (a couple times I used it on a single villager that was building a TC to stop/delay the TC from being built! even if there are multiple villagers building it, You can traitorize a single one and start harassing the others, at the very least it's a good distraction for Your opponent to manage)
and Implosion can deal a tremendous economic blow to an enemy by wiping out a whole bunch of villagers (best use case being bang on a TC surrounded with farms and villagers! I run in with 2-4 contarius sent on a suicide mission and pop the Implosion in the middle 😂) That's pretty much a game over for the opponent by that point so long as You're not scraping by Yourself
@@Mathilde_Moksha_333 Gaia Forest is, pardon the pun, growing on me haha
Amazing that you also thought of using it to make chokepoints like me, it's so cheap too so easily useable early game.
I've been experimenting with selling some of the excess wood in Age 2 to boom faster or get a second TC up earlier =)
I had 5-6 gaia forests around My starting TC by the end of the game when I won 😂
Then the towers help mow down enemy forces, which is helped by the chokepoints!
Ra has cute 'oh hey we buffed you but the buffs aren't helping solve your problems'-buffs
Then smacked us in the face with the Heroic upgrade nerf.
Like fck off game.
Set and odin will dominate
In the Campaign I wish that it would leave it base old style in the game.
Give gaia her god power blocking ability back 😭😭
Gaia didn't have a god power blocking ability, but he lush did stop enemy buildings from being built upon it. The Hesperides Tree from Theia did gets its god power ability removed however.
@elpistachio this is true looks like I misremembered her ability, but the buff either way would still help her
Roc never going to be used unless your on a map surrounded by trees or water and need to island hop
I personaly think there was room for more buff
As a controller player this update is really nice, I’ve had many issues where I’m in a building menu training units when I notice I’m getting raided. Normally you’d click B to get out of that menu but sometimes it just would refuse to work and you’d just have to let vills die while you cry 😭😂
That's great to hear! Let me know what other controller change have helped you with this patch.
@@FitzBroa fix to control groups would really help us, control groups like we have in age4 would really be a massive boost for us.
Yea that or you hit B to cancel out of the wheel and it cancels your units that are training as you spam it trying to quickly scroll over to where the action is
in case you have a laptop, AoM is playable with m/kb through cloud
@@spazghetti7204 this right here bro 😭😂

Also - LEAVE ODIN ALONE! haha
most best real game :D
Pretty disappointed to see a lot of nerfs. Instead I think they should have buffed anything lagging behind with pretty much no nerfs unless extremely needed
Dude stuff is OP nerfs are OK
exactly this, this whole patch its one of the worst patch ive ever seen on any game I played last 20 years
some nerfs were completely pointless and unnecessary, for example the increased Durantion for both heroic and mythic. Like wtf?? avg ladder gameplay strategy was already too stalled on micro-rush/all-ins to finish the game asap, now with this change they will force even more this shit.
I can understand some needed nerfs, but this one was a total mess
Real talk, how in the world do people play this game with a controller? I just can't see being able to play an RTS competitively without a keyboard
I do not think the age up times are too impactful. They need to be 30 seconds more and1 minute more.
Personally, you referring to "down in the comments" what feels like almost every other sentence at some point makes me just want to find a different channel.
I understand it helps YT algorithms and interactions, but I hope you manage to find a better balance, or a better way to do it in the future.
the roc update is for the story mode hahah
lmao
With the croc buff it might be possible to do some harass right after age up. Although it feels really clunky to land so that's the thing they really need to fix in my opinion to make it potentially useful
divine = true damage
Mediterranean gone! 🤩
Yeah, you can attack with villagers, but they are not very good at it
It means the petsobek is less good against buildings but better against everything else
I think a good buff, because they already sucked against buildings lol
Why would they be worse against buildings? I don't think anything has armor against divine damage (and while buildings don't have much crush armor, they do still have a little).
@@jasonsmith1950 divine damage is pure damage, which no units/buildings have resistance to
It's still also better against buildings, albeit not massively so. Pretty dope buff against everything.
Rip greeks 😊😊
Not going to like that priests lose 50% healing. Troops not as good and greeks can slam out a lot of mythical units the egyptians cannot get that level of divine power.
Odin was S+ tier and still untouched wtf 💀

Too MANY Greek nerfs.
Odin still broken, Set still broken. Meteor still broken. And a slower Fast Heroic is a hit in the face for Atlanteans.
Uranos/Gaia changes not good.

Not a big fan of this patch on first look, lots of feast or famine.
How they still going to nerf Atlanteans when they have the lowest win rate. They literally didn’t buff shit and the Devs are complete idiots

Hades reallly needed to get knocked down a peg.
The weird part is Odin dodging the nerfbat.
Lol no…..they are fine, also chimera is expensive and weak 😢😢 despite his good aoe dps
I was expecting them buffing some minos gods and units, instead of nerfing the thins that were most played, for example Hades, had a good pick rate, because he stopped Rush, and Rush is the meta on Ladder, so ¿Whats the point nerfing the anti meta things?
They just broke thos freakiong game, trust me, and return to this comment later, the game is gonna be full rush and boring, player s doing and replicating the exact same strats, most of time Nordics.
If someone wants to bet, im open to it, ill bet my entire life savings if this game doesnt become the exact same I said, a broken game full of rush and nordics.
nordics are not op. they get rushed by greeks
i hate this. now the nerds come and balance all the fun out of the game. stop trying to make every game ever e-sport approved.
some people want to actually have a chance of winning as atlantean vs odin or hades, instead of just getting early rushed outta the game by people that are worse than you at the game (they dont even micro just spam specific units and a click and it works half the time too)
@@lennic what a nerd reply 🤓. The civs are supposed to have pluses and minuses why keep shaving off anything that's different until they play the exact same ? If you want a fair balanced environment go play chess.

WAs thinking about buying this game, but seeing the mindset of nerfing I don't like it at all :/
Dont buy it, game is broken at this point. Its all Norse vs Norse and the win condition is just whoi gets the better map and who can age up quickly, thats all. Before the patch it were gos like Hades who had a good defense vs Nordic rush, or Set who can put pressure, but them got nerfed
Did you not see all the buffs here too? The game is great. There simply is not enough data yet, and everyone is gravitating towards the "best" gods. The disparity in win rates is likely not very high at all.
