1 more services to turn off is the windows search - the index thing is generaly useless but tryes to tag all of your data to make it easyer to find. If you ever want to search for a specific file use total commander search and that's it.
I dont have a single app on my device, but as soon as I start it up it goes immediately to 100%. I have 3 drives, (1 being an ssd) and my model is a Dell xps 8940. I reinstalled windows and cleared everything, (it took all day) then I got dell to replace my drives, but as soon as the drives are done installing I just get the issue again. I have no Idea what to do anymore as I've been with support at least 15 times this week.
It's a miracle, I was sick of the 100% Hard disk issue, and You just solved brilliantly. I must say, you are just God of the configuration for such important and valuable information... God bless you thank you so much 😊
Just imagine: Buying a computer and for every optional system, some labelled recommended, you can just choose to turn them on or off. Another thing, you can use the Task Manager and anything that is 100% optional would have an indicator for being able to End Task or whatever. So far, I'm happy.

Glad I could help. If your pc is restarting on its own, it might be due for a cleaning. remove dust on fan vents and if you can open it up and clean the dust off (make sure its not plugged in if you do that)
not even joking, this took my pc from running at 100% disc to 2-3%. thank you so much man. i did however when trying to "find updates for windows" it gives me an error and cant find any. and it says im missing some. also my amd stopped being able to update maybe 4-6 months ago. wonder if the issue is linked. thank you so much for the help though

Could 100% disc usage also be caused by a hardware issue with hdd? My laptop experienced minor water damage and has ran slow ever since. I have upgraded the ram from 4gb to 16gb but it still runs slow when trying to open apps like google. Ram is the only thing i have upgraded and everything else is factory default.

turn on your pc and let it sit there for a good 30 minutes before doing anything.. let all the background updates do there thing and then go in and shut em all off
my friends pc has i5 pc with 4gb ram ....he is using hdd but his pc is laggier than my intel celeron 4gb ram laptop.....i have no idea why...his pc boot like 4-5 times longer than my laptop which is like more or less 40 sec

i have tried all of these solutions and i even reset my bios to default and finally reinstalling new windows completely wiping out all of my saved data and still nothing. so is it safe to assume that it is my HDD is the problem? I'm fine with replacing the hardware but i want to make sure that it is the exact problem because I don't want to end up buying an upgrade and still having the same problem.

running tests on your hardware is the best option for you. once you locate the issue you can replace the part.
