Members of Parliament serving on the Portfolio Committee on Electricity and Energy have grilled the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) over the latest electricity tariff hike.
NERSA has been called to account regarding the reasons for its decision about electricity price increases.
Some MPs accused it of not doing enough to consider the socio-economic impact of the hikes on consumers, saying the above inflation tariffs will choke businesses and already cash-strapped households.
