  • Welcome to Part 2 for How to Make a Boba Fett Helmet. These two videos of the helmet are a kickoff to a several part video series I will be uploading on how to create the Mandalorian Season 2 version of Boba Fett armor from start to finish.
    This video covers an in depth look at getting the Boba texture from the Mando Season 2 repainted version, and some techniques for getting the metallics to show through and simulating a chipped paint effect. I include every color, and links below at where to find them, but I also include alternate color options.
    I really want this playlist to be a one stop tutorial for making a full cosplay from start to finish.

    For my Boba Fett post-Sarlacc, weathered Boba, I used aluminium spray paint from Belton. German brand, worked like a charm. A good metallic base colour is the key. If I tried to do that with paint on aluminium, it would never have looked right.

    To help avoid the stringing on the spray adhesive texture, I hold the nozzle down about half way so it is more of a spurt than a spray.

      That’s very interesting. Is it shaken up properly? You could potentially use a little bit of baby powder but I would recommend testing it on something else before applying to your final piece.

      @@GalaxyBuilt That would be really appreciated as I find your videos to be the best ones I have seen and certainly the most thorough and detailed. I know this takes a lot of effort and time but I know you are helping many others including myself.
      I printed a book of boba fett version of the helmet and I think it is mostly the same as yours with just some of the damage areas in different spots… there may be more but I think I’m going to just follow what you did and relocate some of the damage marks. Unless you have any suggestions on making it more screen accurate to book of boba fett etc.. and again, thank you for doing all of this!

    • @GalaxyBuilt
      @GalaxyBuilt  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Definitely different damage and book of boba doesnt really have the texture either! Check out my bro Alexander Makes on Instagram he is @alexander_makes_ and he would be a great person to message for specific color choices and finishing techniques! Most colors should be the same as mine but the BOBF version does not have the texture!

    • @GalaxyBuilt

      I do still use the resin quite often yes!! But lately I have also been watering down bondo glazing and spot putty with acetone to brush it on and I like that a lot too. You could also use a product called XTC 3D and its quite good for it as well!@@colinmsmall

    For the dupli color truck bed liner should I use solvent based , water based , or premium??

    • @GalaxyBuilt
      @GalaxyBuilt  ปีที่แล้ว

      The product that I used for the helmet is a solvent based product. Bothe the Rustoleum and Duplicolor truck bed liners have their differences. Definitely read the labels. Duplicolor cannot be applied in direct sunlight so it says.

    I’m in the middle of painting right now and I’m wondering if you just wait for like a couple of hours before masking the back and cheeks and starting to mask the red.. or did you wait overnight? I’m wondering if it is risky to leave the masking on overnight and then starting the red..

    • @GalaxyBuilt
      @GalaxyBuilt  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It definitely varies between different paints but I would advise at least waiting overnight for the paint to dry before putting tape on it. If the paint is not set, masking tape will ruin the paint job when you go to peel it off.

    • @colinmsmall
      @colinmsmall 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GalaxyBuiltThank you for such a quick reply! I waited overnight to take the dome and front. I just did the cheeks and back and then I wondered what do I do now lol. Sounds like waiting overnight is a safe bet, I will do that. I wasn’t sure if waiting too long would hurt when pulling it off.

    • @GalaxyBuilt
      @GalaxyBuilt  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did not have any issues with how long paint stayed on the piece as long as the paint had enough time to set before the tape!

    As someone who’s used both is the do3d or the galactic armory look better? And which has better range finder mechanism

    • @GalaxyBuilt
      @GalaxyBuilt  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the price, galactic armory is much better you get a lot more. DO3D is like twice the price. Also, galactic armory has done many updates since I bought the files that make it much more accurate. The reason I did the DO3D helmet file is that I felt galactic armory was not as accurate at the time. It’s better now. Galactic armory has a better range finder because it has a lip that allows it to stay upright without falling and you don’t have to use any magnets or anything. But in part 1 of this video series I show you how to make holes for magnets if you want to do that. Also, I have a discount code you can use to save 10%. GALAXYBUILT. I really hope this helps!

    Can you tell me where I can find stencils to paint the chest emblem and shoulder emblem? I looked on Etsy but it seems like it is mostly decals. How did you do it?

    • @GalaxyBuilt
      @GalaxyBuilt  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So i preferred not to do decals because its so obvious and they dont weather well. I made stencils myself on a cricut and cut them out for painting. Im aware there aren't really stencils available on Etsy so I am looking at filling that void myself, but I'm not sure I will have a store setup in time for it to serve you on this project.
