Simple Minds have been musical pioneers for 40 glittering years. Catching the mood of the post-punk era, when the angry sounds of 1977 were splintering into a thousand different shapes, they emerged with a style rooted in the art-rock of David Bowie and the electronic dance of Donna Summer. They went on to become one of the great bands of their generation, deploying rousing choruses and booming atmospherics to provide a soundtrack that has endured. They topped the American chart with Don't You (Forget About Me) and followed suit in the UK with the Ballad Of The Streets EP (featuring Belfast Child). In selling over 60 million records, they have seen three of their 20 studio albums reach number one in the UK - Sparkle In The Rain, Once Upon A Time and Street Fighting Years - a chart-topping feat equalled by their live album Live In The City Of Light and the compilation Glittering Prize. A spellbinding touring band, they have graced the world's biggest stadiums. They starred at Live Aid and played three momentous London shows in honour of Nelson Mandela. The past decade has also seen a remarkable resurgence, their world-class credentials acknowledged by a Q magazine Inspiration award in 2014 and an Ivor Novello in 2016. There was magic in the air in July of this year as thousands of Simple Minds fans descended on the hill - top town of Taormina, Sicily, to watch their favourite band perform in what surely has to be one of the world's most spectacular venues.
Months later. in this week of release of our latest album Direction Of The Heart - we thank you all for your support and hope you enjoy watching this small documentary film of 'Simple Minds In Sicily.'

Just turned 62yrs old and I have loved Simple Minds since Love Song was a hit here in Australia in 1981. I have been a fan since and Simple Minds are beyond amazing. I am just a simple Aussie and can’t afford to travel to Italy but you guys always make me feel ‘Alive and Kicking’. ✌️🇦🇺🙏

Been to Taormina, Sicily, a place I would otherwise haven't hear of if it weren't for the Simple Minds.
And it is everything the members of the band say it is. Breathtakingly beautiful, vibrant, colorful and the
people are authentically lovely. Nearly the complete opposite of a little place called Algol at the Island
of Skye, which I also immensely love because of its pristine and serene beauty.
The album reflects both places to me. Simple Minds, you never fail to surprise and amaze. Thanks you for decades
of intense beauty. So glad I have been able to listen to your music from New Gold Dream onward.

Since the release of Promised You A Miracle I've been an inseparable fan of this band. After attending the concert in Cologne on May 1st, I realized: Simple Minds are strong and fresh as they used to be. The new released songs are fantastic! Simple Minds' music is a lot about feelings and emotions, and these guys are very good at that. They mainly have their own original style and that's what I like the most...

A great video with plenty of positive vibes in the air; a band totally embracing live.
But what strikes me the most is the sound in the background of yet another great song: Solstice kiss.
Just a piece of it but it sounds absolutely fantastic, just brilliant !!
Simple Minds never seems to amaze me and this since the first time I heard them on the radio with Promised You a Miracle.
I was a 12 year old kid and they still know to reach that kid in me with every new album they make.

GREAT collection of songs! Picked up the deluxe version at HMV in Coventry last week. We’d flown from US to Manchester for a visit with family in Coventry and was pleased to see the HMV was still there after so many decades away.
Last couple of releases have a modern feel with that fire from the 80’s & 90’s. I’d have to say FIRST YOU JUMP is my favorite track. VISION THING is a great opener.

I am just back from Italy and hope to be in Sicili in spring...I would love to meet up again after living in your musical dream. I came to see you at the Hydro in April and loved it all. We met at Bruce's record shop in 79 and several times in Edinburgh. My girl friends had Charlie showing off his knees in the NiteClub :-) if you remember? Gotta love this band, not only because I almost grew up with their music, I was arround 14 years old when I started listening to them, I remember dancing their songs at high school parties. But also because I've never stoped listening to their music and keep on buying their albums... Saw them 2 live and they are amazing. And I think this is going to be an A++++ album. Can't wait for it to be released

The good thing about Minds is that they age like wine which is actually they never age, but they make music still so fresh and relevant. Since the release of Street F. Years I have been closely following the band which has been bringing joy and positive energy into my life.

Besides being talented musicians, I really appreciate how down to earth they appear to be, in coming to grips with the aging process 😉. I can't stand anyone who thinks they're better than others, and these guys seem to be very grounded in reality.

This is phenomenal if true, sadly there are no subtitles in the video and my English is not that good.
Also I have a feeling you bought a HOUSE in Taormina, which I would totally understand ahah, you sound in love with this city, and you are right.
I've seen Placebo, Skunk Anansie, John Legend in Taormina, but this concert was explosive, unique.
