      For what it's worth I've heard a theory about that is they did it on purpose because some negative criticism on Samsung displays and pictures are they look a little cartoonish so Samsung toned it down a bit. Have no idea if that's true but that's what I heard

      People are complaining about the screen because they are use to over saturated displays for the past years. The s24 display looks great to me. More natural. It's a case of conditioning. You become accustomed to the over saturated colors and then when you see something different you take it as "bad", not as good, etc

    • @taulantdatja7354
      @taulantdatja7354 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      When I jumped from Galaxy note 9 to S21 Ultra, I swiched the colors to natural and it seemed to me very bad, because I was used to oversaturated colors of Note 9. After a while I looked to the Note 9 and my eyes feel like hurting. Always new technology is better than the old one. Samsung's screen always have been on top, they still are, so the galaxy S24 Ultra has better colors, because is closer to natural colors and is more comfort for the eyes. I wish I could afford the Galaxy S24 Ultra just for the screen, because always my priority when choosing a new phone has been the screen quality.

  • @FoxxFire

    Thank you for the caveat at the beginning about not missing out by not upgrading to the newest phone. So many videos are created in such a way as to create anxiety in people about their current phone and wanting the new one, especially younger people. I hate that about some tech reviews. So it's nice to hear an influential reviewer say something different and a little more sensible.

    Stainless steel on the previous iPhone is way heavier than aluminum and also heavier than titanium, so apple moving from stainless steel to titanium is gonna have a significant difference in weight than Samsung moving from aluminum to titanium.

    I sold off my S22U to prep up n buy the S24u I'm glad it wasn't available till now on prebooking! I moved to Iphone 15pro max for the time being! and as a major content consumer like YT, Netflix and Twitch on my phone I HATED Iphones display and dull colors! literally ZERO vibrancy, so I decided to move back to Samsung n planned to buy S24u NOT until I saw this review about the new Armor glass and how it kills vibrancy, this is a MAJOR deal for me to have good colors which is why I missed Super amoled! I did get the 512g Black S24 Ultra.
    However, I did notice that in my Gallery on my S22 Ultra, you can click on the Eye Icon in the top right & it will search the image just like "Circle to Search."
    I had no idea... Not that I use AI or care about it..
    But, I've been waiting on that Flat Display since the Note 10+.
    I also like that the S24 Ultra will pair it's Camera's to any Samsung Tablet.. Kinda Cool, for webcam stuff.

    I upgraded from my S22U to the S24U because I cared about the flat panel and the longer software updates, and felt that I was getting a solid trade in value before my old device would depreciate further. But honestly, now that I have the S24 Ultra, the differences are so small even from 2 generations. If you’re on the fence about upgrading from an S22 Ultra and don’t care about flat vs curved edges, my advice is to just save the money and use the S22 Ultra until it no longer gets software updates.

    I upgraded to the S23-Ultra from a Note 10 Plus & it was a huge upgrade.
    I try to upgrade my phone every 2 to 3 years so I can get the most bang for my buck & technology bc year to year upgrading is a waste of money IMO & the upgrades are really minimal.
    So I'll have my S23-Ultra probably until year 2025 or 2026 if Samsung is still making Notes or phones with the S-Pen.
    I'm a user of the S-Pen every day, so it's an important part of my phone.
    I use the S-Pen the most when I'm taking pictures using it as the shutter button & most people are amazed at that feature.
    My daughter has an iPhone & I've given her a little more battery life by using the reverse wireless charging feature & she's upset that she doesn't have that feature on her phone. LOL . . .

    If blacks don’t look pure black on this phone as an OLED should look I see this as a huge fail. Also, the vibrancy of the note/ultra display is one of the key selling points. People are saying the vibrant mode on the S24 is not doing anything either so let’s hope it’s a bug, because if it’s not I def won’t grab it. If it looks like an LCD they’ve defeated the purpose of the OLED panel.

    2:34 - the S pen colour actually matches the colour of the side rails. My blue S24 Ultra has a black S pen, since the side rails are black. The violet S24 Ultra has a grey S pen since it has the grey side rails. The yellow S24 Ultra has a yellowish S pen

    Thank you, Matthew, for an excellent, real review, and highlighting the differences. Most reviewers are like excited kids, who jump at the slightest changes or upgrades. Like the screen for example, many would prefer the punchy glossy looks of the s23 instead of the dull matt S24. Each to their needs. Whichever your happy with. Its ok.

    Hey it would have been more great if you could add in the chapters in the video😊
    Talking about this video I feel this gave a much more honest real life impression.
    If we watch MKBHD or Mr who's the boss or most of the other established users, they are such enthusiasts that some of these minor things actually makes them feel it's such a significant upgrade.. that's the general impression we get after watching their S24 Ultra..
    An S23 Ultra use it started to affect me lol😂.. then my best friend who was looking to purchase a new phone I persuaded him to buy an S24 Ultra.. I have been spending a lot if time with it, its a great phone.. but the real differences with S23ULTRA is very minor. An all day gamer might feel a bit more difference cuz the extra power in sd gen 3 would useful in his game.
    Apart from the flat screen everything is very similar.
    I really hope that I could stick with S23 until 2026

    In general, the innovation pace is slowed/stagnated. This is why we kept seeing incremental updates especially from Apple. When it comes to samsung, people used to see samsung pushing the limits of innovation in almost every new phone model. It seems samsung changed this strategy and started focusing on perfecting whats actually working. The drawbacks of this strategy is that it leaves no place for real innovation

    • @Mrthekingize
      @Mrthekingize 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      well part of the issue is that phones reached a design/aesthetic peak years ago. for the most part, most big phone companies essentially landed on their trademark designs and all that's left is small, incremental updates. there's not all that much remaining that can be improved in terms of design/screen at least for the big flagships.

      It's worth in general(especially if you have the Exynos version), not by a camera standpoint, if you want the latest and greatest. S23U was a great upgrade from S22U, and It's still holding It's own, that's why It's difficult to suggest to switch from 23 to 24

    • @andyH_England
      @andyH_England 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The new AI is due on the S23U with OneUi 6.1, so it could be by the end of Q1. The battery life and performance changes are nominal. For some, going from 10X to 5X is a downgrade; the other cameras are the same. 50% prefer curved displays, so for them, it is a downgrade.
      Be aware of marketing; the S24U is a sideways upgrade, but it may be worthwhile if you can get a good deal.

    we are in an era where phones already peaked, and its hard to really say which is the best, ... unless somebody puts a DLSR quality camera on a phone and can totally replace your professional cams, as in totally replaced not just in the eyes if a regular consumer but with professional photographers as well, then thats the flagship to beat! otherwise, right now we are just in the waiting game, ..

    That vibrance is the software problem cuz it is the same thing on s24 and s24+ and these devices don't have anti reflective glass! Do your research! That is why the vibrant mode doesn't work

    • @MatthewMoniz
      @MatthewMoniz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The S24 Ultra has a different material to reduce reflections. The S24 and S4 + do not. I have all three phones here. Yes, the screen mode settings is not working on all phones. That will be fixed in a software update but the S23 Ultra will always look more "vibrant" than the S24 Ultra since its not using an anti-reflective material. Do your research!

    I have a s23 ultra and use performance profile light just because I don't use all that the power the SDgen2 offers. It's good for future proof but they give us more power but nothing to use it on. Guess they need some excuse for people to upgrade yearly. Think this phone will last me 3 years or until something really innovative comes out.
