Love Leica Icon , i have been working now with that machine 3 years and i save a lot of time . Importing the dxf and getting rid of all that excel cvs is so easy , and also it reduces the chances for mistake . I think all companies need to go Robotic and reduce those TS 6/3
Dear Greg, As a junior in this field, I am very pleased with your content but I believe it would be better if a professional like you suggest more advanced videos about civil engineering and survey. Thank you again for your hard work!!!
Greg, you can also set up permanent monuments; backsight foresight process. That is what I do on site initially; Then once the structures are up, I do resection. I still use my leica tcp1205 robotic with cs15 controller
Have you got any videos giving a tutorial on auto cad skills you need for site engineering if not do you think you could produce one. As I can’t find any auto cad videos related to the tools you use as a site engineer .
There are couple of videos showing how to bring and work with data and total station, I don't have vid about the CAD itself yet - coming soon though ;)
The engineer I am meant to be working under has took more of a managerial role and I don’t get to work with him much and I am now carrying out basic setting out on a site in my second year of being an apprentice engineer. Can I still learn as I go without being with a senior engineer all the time as I feel I won’t learn as much as I should, like reading drawings, using certain tools in auto cad and generally carrying out more technical setting out. Or do you learn this stuff as you go along ?
@@SITENG….. @AidenRobinson-kl2dx measure twice and cut once as many old joiners used to tell me when I was learning…..pressures is good mate but if you get really stuck seek guidance from your mentor
Just a quick question. I set up three pegs with a nail in them with Leica GPS and surveyed them. I then put the coordinates in Total Station and resurveyed them. I then added reto targets around the site but i am getting a constant 30mm height difference between GPS and TS. Any idea why?
If you're happy with the GPS stations and level as well, then you should change the height on your retro target info, maybe you put it wrong? if its constant 30mm I would adjust the retros info to reflect the your set up datum. What was your set up when you did your 3gps points with TS - this is interesting ;) you need to set 1 datum yourself anyway if you can't tie in to anything else - ideally I would refer to some existing point / station etc - don't trust gps too much

Yeah, it's different way of working now - digital layout :)
I think it will take over completely withing few years anyway. All the best!
Awesome Greg! You explained great, even if iCon is not my favorite software 😆

Thanks! There will be more, just focusing now on showing very first skills you need to enter the industry, but will be coming to drawings etc soon 😁
Great Job
Thank you!
Very informative sir.
Thanks and welcome 👍

Thanks! We had a permanent stations where the prisms were, but never used it - always resection. Good idea 👍

@@AidenRobinson-kl2dx very good! You will be under pressure, but that’s the best way to learn & progress now 💪💪

I find it crazy that the 2face and sets app costs £300+ for the app
Not sure about the pricing, but have to double check as I want to go for iCON myself :)
The motion tracking on your camera for your full body shots is nauseating.
Thanks! I'll make it more static then 👊
