Do you know the trick to bump it in reverse ,as you pull the pto lever , seems to go in easier.

Great video! Excellent camera work! "Studs on top" was an obvious joke you avoided, but with the studs on top of the advance casting the gasket stays put when an attachment is installed or removed.

    Cool,
I just bought a 10A with a similar problem. Everything was loose and the trunnion block is missing. The dog is extremely worn. Parts are on the way. Can’t wait for part 2.

Glad for this diagnosis! Luckily the nut was loose and the culprit SET SCREW on the shipper was loose. Back to work tilling now . Thanks

rw3dog oh yeah! It’s been cool to see the channel grow. I subscribed when there were about 200 subscribers. Now you are up to 1700. Good stuff.

The 5000 series and pro models have a metal strap located above the pto lever to help prevent the problem you had. I’m pretty sure my 1975 C12 has one as well. Definitely quite the metal sandwich to put back together when troubleshooting a PTO or replacing the forward/reverse clutch.
The 1972 parts list doesn’t show one. You never know with Gravely, however, between the engineers who loved to tinker, and the owners who definitely do as well...

Missing parts on shipper shaft plates on top a bar across.

Those parts were not invented until newer tractors

My first gravely I bought was an L8, and it had the bottom of the shipper shaft broke off, and of course acted the same way.
