    You've got all kinds of nice stuff showing up at the farm Brock, nice! And I see that you've established a relationship with Andrew, which is nice too! I've been wanting to get an Eastonmade 12-22 for the longest time to use on my channel, but just can't shell out the money right now. But I watch pretty much ALL of the firewood channels, and everybody either goes with an Eastonmade or a Wolfe Ridge, with most of them landing on the Eastonmade. AWESOME splitters!
    Just a suggestion, since the Ultra doesn't have a log lift, when you fill your tractor or skid bucket with large rounds like that, I'd lift the bucket and park the skid or tractor right behind you so that you don't have to keep bending over to pick the rounds up. Keep the bucket at about waist height and your back will thank you!
    I'm also anxiously waiting to see which tractor and brand you land on in the next month or so! Good video Brock!

  • @jeromebecigneul2911
    @jeromebecigneul2911 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You could also use your tractor or mini skid to roll or lift the pieces into the bucket then bring the bucket or even a grapple up to the opposite side of the splitter and use it as a hydraulic lift. In fact a bucket or grapple would hold quite a few more logs to split than a log lift on the machine. That way you are using something you already paid for instead of adding to the price and complicity of the splitter itself.

    My Log lift is a 30 ft long over head H Beam with a electric Winch on a trolly with a scissor grapple hook= i bring my 3' -4' rounds on my truck to the trolly then sky hook it to the 34 ton single blade splitter i split chunks off the big round while it is still held by the grapple -.I have 2' X 6' tables on each side of the spitter and operate the splitter from the anvil end ,the tables are attached with Scaffold Tube and Clamp with 5/8 form ply laying on top = slide the plywood out and gas / start etc - I get the old wrecked shopping carts and take the under carriage off the carts and fill a basket full on small rounds to go to the splitter - as a added treat the Shopping Cart 'Dolly ' gets used for car/ truck engine Dollys - every thing
    is under cover including the 30 cord wood bin just past the splitter table - The Front 6 cord roofed wood shed is just for rounds and it has it's own over head trolly system that also meets up with the splitter trolly - the wall in that shed are vertical stacked rounds - the trolly beams are horizontally pivotal

    Nice piece of equipment. So is your other one. I am in Michigan and cut wood in the winter. I have an old TSC splitter from the early 90's. The problem is there is no hydraulic bypass when pull starting it so as the engine tries to roll over it's also trying to move 10 degree hydraulic fluid through the pump. Sometimes the engine will kick back and nearly rip my shoulder from the rest of my body. I have looked into a Super Split that cycles using a double flywheel and therefore no hydraulic fluid. It does mot have a log lift table though.

The only downside I’ve seen so far is the handle broke off of the single way not long after getting it and the hydraulic cylinder keeps getting scratches in it which eventually causes the seals to leak. Andrew already replaced it for me once and it’s starting again but I don’t do anything wrong with it to have it do that do must be a bad batch of cylinders or something. The machine goes thru wood quick especially with that 4 way wedge. You’ll love it in sure. It will outwork you for sure. Need two people to get the full work load out of it.

    Actually, it doesn't take larger pumps to run a log Lift. I have A 2006 MTD 25ton yard machine. And I ended up building a hydraulic log lift for it, and it is still operating on the original 6 HP Briggs and stranton engine with 11 gallon per minute pump, and it does just fine. I can lift 22 to 24 inch diameter red oak Rounds and split them. Granted, the speed is a little to be desired with 12 second cycle time, but That can be remedied with a little bit larger engine and a 16 gallon per minute pump, but I deal with it by not retracting the ram all the way. Total cost, $700 for the splitter and $700 for parts to build the lift, $1400 total. So there is a more economical way to do it if you dont have the extra $5000 for a new one.

    Far from worth the cost unless you are splitting wood every day....This is why I have an electric splitter because I only have the need for a log splitter for a few days a year...storing the splitter all year would have a bunch of maintenance related problems, so I went electric. For $5k+ that thing should have a log lifter on it, or it should at least be a vertical splitter...lifting logs up onto that splitter isn't gonna be very fun.
