Tingle actually appears in Skyward Sword as a plush doll in Zelda's room, so Tingle, or at least the idea of him, has technically existed from the very start
One of my favorite ways to introduce newbie Zelda players to the rest of the franchise's lore is to show them Ooccoo. She never fails to leave people speechless. Unique NPCs are part of what make the Zelda games so charming. If the dungeons dont hook you in, doing side quests for weird but kind NPCs will.
How did you not mention Beetle and how he mutters under his breath that he will hire somebody to steal the energetic beetle if you don't give it to him.
Moza is meant to show the player what mistakes can be made with cooking and therefore what not to do and I like how in the second game she goes from being an example of bad cooking to being able to help fix your own bad cooking
One thing you might notice about Tingle is that when he gives you that chart, it has four locations marked on it: Windfall Island, Tingle Island, one of the fairy islands... and your home island. Why? Well, Outset Island and the fairy island have something in common: both places are where Great Fairies upgrade your wallet capacity. He really wants you to be able to hold a lot of Rupees, huh?
Zill reminds me of daisy Mae from animal crossing new horizons because they both have a perpetual hanging booger and wow neither of them are bad people. My OCD is screaming at me to get them to wipe their face.
I'm glad Moza was brought back in TotK. And she was finally useful by fixing up the Dubious Food/Rock Hard Food so it would be much more useful. Good work Moza.👍
Tingle has had cameos in every or almost every Zelda game since his first appearance. They just aren't always in person. In Phantom Hourglass, he is on a poster in the Milk Bar. In Spirit Tracks, he appears as a statue in at least one of the shops. As someone mentioned, he is a doll in Zelda's room in Skyward Sword. He appears as Tingel Island in the most recent games, as do his "brothers". While there aren't many who could top Tingle for weirdness, there are three who might, and they all happen to be bosses. First, there's zany Zant from Twilight Princess. His lust for power makes him lose his sanity. Next, and perhaps the weirdest, is Ghirahim from Skyward Sword. I suppose he's overall more creepy than weird, but the way he talks to you and his transformations definitely make him a psycho. Finally, there's my beloved Master Kohga, who is my favorite Zelda boss. I suppose it's his love of bananas and temper tantrums that make him weird, but aside from that, he's just really funny and entertaining. I love his character arc in all his appearances. He goes from a slacking goofball to a fairly competent, calculating leader.
I like Zill when he's sleeping and his snot bubble pops, momentarily waking him. I'm surprised you didn't mention Agitha (aka Princess of Bugs) from Twilight Princess

The only weird character in Zelda is Tingle. Looks weird, acts weird, sounds weird, is weird. Makes everything weird and the name even means, to an extent, a weird sensation. Nobody asked but I’m not a fan.
Fun fact. the Song of Storms paradox is a specific kind called a bootstrap paradox in which information, or an object, is sent back in time and creates a causal loop where the information or object have no clear origin. like going back in time to give yourself a letter telling you how to build a time machine. where did the designs for the machine originally come from?
I believe the paradox starts with link learning the song of storms when he goes to the parallel world in majoras mask and then when he returns back to Hyrule in the war and everything goes off during his time in Hyrule he teaches the phonogram guy the song
While Link learning the Song of Storms is a paradox, the Song of Storms itself was written by the composer brothers. The same characters that wrote the Sun's Song.
What's even weirder about Ooccoo is that her name in the German version is "Tante" which literally means "aunt" - it never made sense to me, I still don't get it
It's actually not that weird with a bit of research. In the original Japanese, she wasn't really given a name, instead just referred to as "obachan", which technically means "auntie" but is more used by someone referring to an older woman. You can see this a lot if you ever see direct translations for anime or manga, with them similarly using ojichan for an older man (note that older really just means relative to the one speaking), though sometimes they'll use -san instead of -chan. So really, in German, they just continued that. I can't tell if they were trying to keep the syntax, if they were being lazy, or if they thought that was actually her name and directly translated it. We've seen all of those before in other games. You can see this better with her son, Ooccoo Jr., where in Japanese he's called "Auntie's son" and apparently in German it directly translates to "Aunt's darling" Other languages decided to give her an actual name, as far as I can tell. German just copied what she's called in Japanese.
Of course, there's Loone, who loves ancient things... in a seemingly weird way. She's first seen cuddling up to one of those orbs that activates a pedestal, and won't let you take it -- sorry, HIM -- away... unless you bring her pictures of three kinds of Guardians. (The Decayed ones don't count.) She could literally see a Stalker Guardian up the beach, and if she could agree to let you take the orb earlier and just ride down the lift with you, she could see a Guardian Scout. Skywatchers would be harder to see in person, though.
Hey HG, I have an idea for a video if you're interested. I think it's pretty safe to say that Link and Zelda both reincarnate through the ages. What I wonder is, are there other "special souls" who also reincarnate when they have a mission to fulfill? For instance, Beedle. He always looks the same in every game. He is always a merchant that can provide useful stuff to Link. Another that I think might reincarnate is never seen or mentioned. That would be someone who I'll refer to as the Architect. Just who exactly built all of the dungeons or temples that Link has conquered? Who came up with all of the puzzles he'd have to solve? I'm sure there are probably more examples of possible reincarnies, but these were the only two I could think of off the top of my head.
Weirder still, the Song of Storms not only comes from nowhere in OoT, but it is also invented in the parallel world of Termina in Majora's Mask, which brings the question of how did it cross over to Hyrule, and how did it yet attached to the timeloop? Maybe some weird timey wimey reverse memory stuff, like Link somehow remembering learning the song from his future or something? Idk, makes the most Weird sense in a weird way.
Ive always believed that in the 7 years you seal the master sword, you are battling through Termina. It may not be canon but it is how I choose to follow along. This would bridge the paradox given that Link could have learned the song in Termina and returned to Hyrule to teach Guru-Guru outside of the OoT setting. We do know that the Hero’s Shade is the future of your Young Link in OoT. So he obviously returned to Hyrule after the Termina adventure since this is the very same Link chronologically. If that’s hard to follow or if I’m wrong let’s discuss it.
@GetYourPhilUp The problem with Link from Majora's Mask teaching the song is Zelda at the end of OoT sends Link to before the events of the game, aka, spliting the timeline and making it impossible for Link to continue with tampering the adult era from the child era. This is why I believe there would have to be some timey wimey nonsense to make it work, and why it is a weird problem.
@@dcbandit yes I knew that much, but the 7 years Link is sealed still have to “Happen” right? I’m saying, of course this is just my own interpretation, that the events in Termina are happening in those 7 years making MM more of a Bridge than a sequel.
